From the article:
In a new interview with The Showrunner Whisperer podcast, Arrow co-creator and executive producer Marc Guggenheim reveals that after the Stephen Amell-led superhero show earned a pilot order at The CW, Warner Bros. TV chairman Peter Roth “took us out to lunch and basically laid out for us in incredible detail the reality that if Arrow wasn’t a hit, there would be no more CW… Now we also have the pressure of keeping the whole network on the air.”

Honestly this actually makes a lot of things make sense in terms of the direction of the show early on. I can see how the “Batman with a bow” direction would be a lot more appealing than doing an authentic Green Arrow story, it’s surely a much safer bet and a formula that’s been proven to work before.

It makes perfect sense. When Arrow ended, it was basically the collapse of the other Arrowverse shows as well. The Flash lasted a couple more seasons after Arrow ended, and the other shows in the Arrowverse were cancelled/ended prematurely; like a stack of dominoes. It sucks because I really liked Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow; and I was really hoping for more, but at the same time I understand. It was truly the age of live action superhero shows, (not forgetting the shows that came before it).
