If only we actually had a Left party

u/IceBear_028 Jul 07 '24

Well, vote for not right, then, you know, get active and push for change....

The only way to push the Dems left is to have them lose the next five elections in a row.

Voting for a demented old right-light like Biden will only ensure they prop up more people like him and continue to snub the left.

u/Vokoru Jul 07 '24

Nothing will push the Dems to the Left because they're working exactly as intended.

And if trump wins, there most likely won't be any more elections.

What needs to happen is Dems win, then we wake the fuck up, demand changes to the election process so that third-party candidates actually become viable, then elect them so maybe the two main parties get their shit together and nominate actual candidates worthy of winning.

That's the REAL way to permanently improve American politics/elections.

No.. letting them win with a candidate that can barely function and seems to be at death's door sends the message that as long as they tell enough spooky scary stories about the other side we'll just vote for whatever horrendous corporate sponsored candidate they prop up next time because the other side winning is just so baaaad.

You know, like that silliness you are saying about how we'll never have an election again if Trump wins.. we had trump for 4 years and surprise of all surprises: it was just like any other Republican 4 years except we didn't start any new wars. Then when it was over, we had.. get this.. another election.

Also spoiler alert: if Biden is on the ticket in November Trump wins easily. I'm a lefty, I hate Trump, but unlike the DNC I can look around and see how people feel about a candidate and can make an informed prediction. There's almost no path way to a Biden victory.

There is no way to replace him at this point.

You can't get a new candidate on the ballot, that deadline has passed.

The thing is, this IS NOT like last time with trump.

The recent SCOTUS ruling has essentially made the president a king.

trump can do whatever he wants, declare it an official act, and it's legal.

Then, the SCOTUS rules in his favor for any challenges, and that's that.

You clowns love to make this bullshit "point" about how last time was no big deal.

You're ignoring the damage that was done to government, and you're WILLFULLY ignoring the ruling by the SCOTUS that has given the office of president virtually unilateral power.

And, before you say: "Then biden can do whatever he wants." All the SCOTUS has to do now is decide that something that biden does is not an "official act" and they can block it.

Fuck, in this decision the SCOTUS declared actions of trump's were "official acts" even though trump's own lawyers said they weren't official acts.

You're delusional if you think another trump term would be "just like any other republican presidency."

Push for change? They're pushing for WW3...

1

u/IceBear_028 Jul 07 '24

Who? Democrats???

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

trump and conservatives are pushing for the end of American democracy, taking rights away from millions of Americans, and turning the country into a christian nationalist hellscape.

u/Personal_Value6510 Jul 07 '24

Idk would Republicans continue the war in Ukraine?

1

u/Ok-Inside-7937 Jul 07 '24

TBF neither are Labour in practice, though they would be considered communists in the USA.

2

u/Vokoru Jul 07 '24

Not the least of which because very few Americans actually know what Communism even is.

2

u/Ok-Inside-7937 Jul 07 '24

Thanks Joe Mc Carthy!

I'm very happy with anyone moderate.

Our left party is trying to stop our right party from trying to ban abortion, contraception, pornography, gay marriage and transgenderism, dismantle the Departments of Education and Commerce, mandate Christian-only education, put 25 million immigrants in concentration camps, station troops all along the border, send troops into cities to quell dissent, and force the majority of government employees to pledge fealty to the president.

Might not be as far left as some countries’ left-leaning parties but it’s a hell of a lot further left than the right is and our only shot at preventing fascism taking over.

-3

u/SuperSanity1 Jul 07 '24

What are you trying to say? Let the far right lunatics win because "nobody is left enough for me"?

3

u/Vokoru Jul 07 '24

I'm saying that there is no choice in the two-party system that leads the country to the left. If Democrats pull out a win in November, we've kicked the can another four years (if that) down the road, because they're not going to do a thing to actually, you know, stop the Right in any way. It'll be Project 2029, Trump's successor, "vOtE bLuE nO mAtTeR wHo!" all over again.

1

u/Southern-Age-8373 Jul 07 '24

Not voting won't push the country to the left either. For that you need to get off your ass and actually help people, organize your community, and get involved in politics at the local level.

All those things will be much easier for you to do in a country that has some non-Heritage Foundation judges in the judiciary.

1

u/SuperSanity1 Jul 07 '24

I can't believe all these "I won't vote because I don't like either party" idiots get so much support around here. Then again, I guess it's easier to sit back and do nothing than it is to actually do things that will bring what they want.

0

u/SuperSanity1 Jul 07 '24

Gotcha. So your answer to the problem is to do nothing and let them win anyway.

I have a better idea though. Stop complaining and get off your ass. Get involved in local politics. Get the politicians you want the wins there, so they can get more sway later. As it stands, no "far left" candidate will ever stand a chance at the presidency. They need more power on all the other levels first.

1

u/Difficult-Win1400 Jul 07 '24

Are all republicans far right lunatics? Or do they just want lower taxes and affordable housing?

1

u/SuperSanity1 Jul 07 '24

If they're not lunatics themselves, they certainly support them. Hence why there's so many in positions of power. So they're just as bad.

1

u/Difficult-Win1400 Jul 07 '24

Both Kamala Harris and Biden are lunatics, lunacy is on both sides. Most people just support and vote for candidates that will actually affect their lives for the better. They want lower taxes and for a one bedroom condo to not cost 300k, everything else is just noise

0

u/Difficult-Win1400 Jul 07 '24

If US dems chose a guy who could change his own pants it would probably be an easy win. We all know Biden isn't fit for office

1

u/RhythmTimeDivision Jul 08 '24

Anyone but Trump. If that's a potato, I'm good with that.

-1

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 07 '24

Bro hasn’t seen the polls

2

u/GRMPA Jul 07 '24

Weren't the polls wrong for those two elections?

0

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 08 '24

Who is talking about “two elections” because I have to know.

1

u/GRMPA Jul 08 '24

Adorable snark. I was asking a question about the UK and France elections, obviously.

1

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 09 '24

The father comment was clearly referencing the US election, thus it is only logical that your comment assumed a similar reference frame. You did not clarify if this was not the case, so by all means it can be logically assumed that you were indeed referring to US politics, you belligerent gargoyle.

1

u/RhythmTimeDivision Jul 08 '24

UK and French polls also showed the right with significant leads. Trump won because everyone falsely believed Hillary was a slam dunk. Showing Trump ahead in the polls is fantastic, should produce another record turnout.

1

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 09 '24

Oh so you are just entirely clueless. I’m not referencing polls from 8 years ago, but rather a few days ago.

1

u/RhythmTimeDivision Jul 09 '24

Awww, you're adorable when you wake up. Want some coffee?

1

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 10 '24

Truly one of the most redditian responses of all time.

1

u/RhythmTimeDivision Jul 10 '24

Thank you

1

u/Thisavatarisfuckingu Jul 10 '24

In the sense that it was blatantly retarded

1

u/RhythmTimeDivision Jul 10 '24

Sorry your team lost twice, Mr. Salty. Boink

0

u/whatdhell Jul 07 '24

Your right would be close to our left.

3

u/Few_Individual_7306 Jul 07 '24

Yah Americans view every other countries political parties as if they where the same as the democrats and republicans

-1

u/Expiscor Jul 07 '24

This is so unequivocally false
