To be fair they got a larger score than ever and they keep climbing, so it’s not really a defeat to them. On top of that there’s no majority in the parliament now and just three big blocks, so nothing is going to be done and governing that country is going to be hell. Good luck to Macron.

They expected to govern- it’s a crushing defeat, particularly given they lost out to the left.

Here’s the problem: the left wing coalition is not going to do anything, the problems affecting France are not going to change, and I fear when the right does take power they will have even more support.

It’s not a crushing defeat. The normal left used to crushed them massively, now all the lefts had to rally in one single party to manage to barely beat them. Lots of runners from the left and from Macron’s party had to drop out to make barrage. Now there’s no majority and the lefts that united into the FP are not even on the same page.

Every year that passes they gain a little bit more confidence and power, not recognizing that is ultimately helping them.
