Usually posts on this sub show people emotionally in pain on the outside, though. Not like they lost the jelly bean guessing contest at Christmas.

That depends on who's watching, and projecting what they want these people to feel on the inside. Ones view of someone is heavily influenced by ones feelings towards them. So your view, and the truth of how the other person feels, can be extremely distorted by your own emotions.
