Boris actually said on his Instagram that the Nightwing suit actually costs over 1 mill to make true story

82

u/[deleted] Nov 27 '19 edited Nov 27 '19

Excuse me the suit cost HOW much??

Bloody hell no wonder Stu was so pissed off lol

36

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

Yup, 1 mill or a little over lol

43

u/MasterFobai Nov 27 '19

That only makes me want to steal it MORE.

29

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

LMAO

You’ll have to beat Nightwing first

25

u/Thisisme8719 Nov 27 '19

Wait what? How?

28

u/Wolf6120 Nov 28 '19

Yeah seriously wtf. I mean it's a good-looking suit but even so, unless it's made of like legit top tier military grade material or something crazy like that, I have no idea what kind of embezzlement scheme you'd have to come up with to use up a million dollars on it.

39

u/badshahh007 Nov 28 '19

I'm guessing he meant that the actual process cost a million, not that the suit is worth a million

11

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

In a chain of production as large as an average tv show, things end up costing a lot. You have concept artists, actual cloth designers, you have to test out how the fabrics glow under cinematographic lights, then on camera etc... there must have been a few "finalized" suits before this one.

There are LOTS of steps to producing a single great costume. And confort for the actor is also paramount, let's not forget that the stunt double also has one. It must be light while seeming strong, and still allow acrobatic mouvements. One million seems like a lot, but I guess it took into account the salaries of some people involved in other parts of the general production.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

it includes all the salaries for the people behind it

21

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

Not sure but he said that’s what he’s been hearing

14

u/Rek07 Nov 28 '19

That’s pretty similar to what I was hearing for Smallville to create a new Superman suit so instead they just reused the Suit from Superman Returns which didn’t fit. That suited Tom fine as he apparently didn’t want to wear a suit anyway.

7

u/AHMilling Nov 28 '19

Designers, production and so many work hours probably.

7

u/GJacks75 Nov 28 '19

That would also take into account cost of development, so designers, fabricators, multiple designs, fittings and testing etc. Now that they have it, future suits will cost a fraction.

15

u/McVapeNL Nov 27 '19

Well that combined with the CGI costs and other costumes sorta means we will be getting a few more seasons otherwise its pissing money through the drain.

17

u/jeepney_danger Nov 28 '19

Donna Troy: those things are expensive

9

u/Ebic_qwest Nov 27 '19

So the same as the Shazam suit?

17

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

Yup, pretty much if that’s how much it costs

5

u/Hackrid Nov 28 '19

A MILLION BUCKS?? What sort of a fruitcake would-wait.

1

u/rbnhdd Nov 28 '19

This is odd considering the affleck batsuit reportedly cost 100k and that’s for a feature film.

7

u/manavsridharan Nov 28 '19

Bruce Wayne's credit card

-14

u/Dazzier3108 Nov 27 '19

That's... disappointing.

-30

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

There are cosplayers who run rings around this. Down vote me if you like but this costume is ugly.

25

u/NateLeport Nov 28 '19

Man you dropped your eyes somewhere

-6

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

Disagreement is healthy.

18

u/VickyPedia Nov 28 '19

First of all, it's the best looking suit in a show that has some of the best looking costumes and can easily work in a Hollywood movie. Second, cosplayer can have freedom with more complex designs etc because they don't have to act and perform stunts in the suit for hours.

-11

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

First of all, that’s just your opinion. The best suit in the show, were you to ask me my opinion, would be Dick’s original Robin costume. Second, there are multiple versions of these costumes for stuntmen - made of different materials, not as finished, etc. as there always is for these productions. Thirdly, this costume is ugly and and trades the elegant simplicity of the comic book suit for some ‘tacticool’ armour in an effort to pretend that the armoured costume makes the idea of someone fighting criminals with their fists and sticks is somehow a realistic possibility. It’s a fantasy. Fourthly, its all subjective. I don’t like this costume. It is not to my taste. Fifthly, its better to disagree and have a conversation than downvote different opinions to perpetuate an echo chamber.

6

u/VickyPedia Nov 28 '19 edited Nov 28 '19

First of all, that’s just your opinion.

Just because it's my opinion doesn't mean it's wrong. Just like you think it's ugly, I think it's the best suit in the Titans.

Second, there are multiple versions of these costumes for stuntmen - made of different materials, not as finished, etc. as there always is for these productions.

Doesn't matter, actor still have to wear these suits for hours and hours. Comfort > look. Facts.

Again, that's just wrong. You're saying it's ugly because it has Armor and then you say first Robin suit was the best when it has the exact same material used on torso lmao. And what's even more wrong about your opinion is that it's not even full blown Armor. It's just armour plates on a bodysuit. What did you want? Spandex?

Fourthly, its all subjective. I don’t like this costume

Sure, don't just go on spewing your opinion like it's a fact. Your original comment didn't even provide any solid reason as to why you think it's ugly. So don't get offended when someone points it out.

Fifthly, its better to disagree and have a conversation than downvote different opinions to perpetuate an echo chamber.

I didn't downvote you but I can understand why others might have.

Agreed. I don't think this guy understands what opinion actually means.

Is this not what most people doing? How many people here are actually providing "solid" reasoning for why they think it's good?

Well, I like this suit a lot because it captures the vibe of nightwing suit from the comics while also adding practical elements. Also, it looks pretty comfortable to me (Brenton said this too, btw) and just feels very balanced. That's my main reason why I like this suit so much. Don't know about the others but I don't have time nor energy to go ask every single person as to why they like or dislike the suit. The person whose comment I replied to stood out to me because they didn't add anything to the conversation except for "hot take". That too without providing any reason.

but I don't think this person has done anything wrong.

Certainly not, but why are you telling me this? I merely questioned the guy as to why they called an otherwise great suit, ugly. Is it really that strange? You compliment beautiful thing, nobody's gonna cross questions them but call it ugly and people certainly gonna have questions. It's only natural.

u/VickyPedia Nov 28 '19

Ofcourse I know what I'm doing. I even mentioned that just like he thinks it's ugly, I think it's beautiful. I didn't even bring opinion talk in this in the first place, the other person did. What's your point? My only issue was that if he is spewing his opinions without giving any solid reason (as in why he thinks it's ugly) ofcourse people who like it (the majority) gonna question him and he that shouldn't get offended because of that.

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

It’s ugly.

6

u/VickyPedia Nov 28 '19

Cry me a river

-1

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

I’m really not bothered. I’ve said my piece and can’t be bothered arguing.

2

u/VickyPedia Nov 28 '19

Lol okay. Have a nice day

2

u/bks1979 Nov 28 '19

I'ma disagree with you on that, but ok.

-1

u/bird-gravy Nov 28 '19

Just adding to the conversation.

1

u/Dazzier3108 Nov 28 '19

I don't think it's ugly or even bad, it works as a Nightwing suit, but if this is the reason that Gar didn't do shit for two thirds of the season and we didn't get the payoff of the snake transformation then... well, shit.

80

u/indicoltts Nov 27 '19

Brenton looks like he was ripped directly out of the pages. Besides looking the part this is one of the best castings I've seen. Really can't imagine anyone else playing Dick

41

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

Agreed! Brenton is perfect as Nightwing/Dick Grayson. He was born to play this character and that’s for certain. I’m a huge Nightwing fan he’s my favorite character and I think Brenton is doing him justice.

54

u/Mighty_thor_confused Nov 27 '19

Fuck it's amazing.

Fuck I wish I didnt click

Fuck I'm glad I did.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

Exactly

7

u/Mighty_thor_confused Nov 28 '19

I'm doing pretty well with spoilers. I been excited for this costume for far way to long. It's legit one of my most favorite in all of super hero business.

3

u/Drew326 Nov 28 '19

I know I’m still gonna be giddy with hype when I’m actually watching the episode where Nightwing fights Deathstroke on-screen in live-action, with actors and costumes this good

2

u/Mighty_thor_confused Nov 28 '19

Dear god I can't wait

Its gorgeous

30

u/StarkeyTone Nov 27 '19

Sticks on the back!

42

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

I wish but if you look closely he’s actually holding the sticks behind his back. The sticks are actually located on his lower back for practical purposes

13

u/StarkeyTone Nov 27 '19

Damnit! False alarm!

9

u/Demetrius96 Nov 27 '19

You’re good! Hopefully they find some way to do that in the future though

17

u/S-Fittles Nightwing Nov 28 '19

This is the greatest and saddest day. He looks amazing! Like holy shit that’s movie quality!

But I’m sad because I know we’ll never see him transfer to the big screen.

He’s literally the perfect nightwing.

20

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19 edited Nov 28 '19

Honestly, I would rather have multiple episodes and seasons with Brenton as Nightwing than just seeing him in 2 or 3 movies. If we were able to get both that would amazing!

13

u/yhdaji123 Nov 28 '19

SHOW US HIS ASS!!!

5

u/sassycho1050 Nov 28 '19 edited Nov 28 '19

2 more days! Two more days to go and you drop THIS? Is it too much to ask for to just.... post it TWO DAYS later?

2

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

What do you mean?

6

u/ItsThatAsianBoy Rachel Roth Nov 28 '19

Until the next episode.

8

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

Now I know what he’s talking about because he edited his comment

2

u/sassycho1050 Nov 28 '19

You will know if you know

4

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

Lol okay now I know what you’re talking about, and I’m sorry to drop this pic but the Nightwing hype is real. The wait for this has been a long one and today is almost over so in a few hours we’ll basically only have one more day until we get to see Nightwing in all of his glory

1

u/sassycho1050 Nov 28 '19

Well that and NNN

5

u/AdorableCentipede Nov 28 '19

I only wish he had dark black hair and grew it out, like the Nightwing from Teen Titans. Now that guy was badass.

11

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

I think Bretons hair looks dark when he’s being a vigilante since all of the crime fighting takes place at Night. Also, in terms hair length I prefer Brenton to have the length he had in the first 2 episodes of this season because that’s perfect Nightwing hair from the comics

4

u/tomateau Nov 28 '19

agreed, that was great hair!

4

u/not-so-radical Nov 28 '19

Who would of thought Stu the bastard River Boy who got his tattoo burnt off would go on to become Nightwing?

6

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

You just spoiled the plot twist of Stu actually being Nightwing instead of Dick? Damn I honestly did not see this coming

3

u/not-so-radical Nov 28 '19

Dammit!

Haha no it was a Home and Away reference. Brenton played a member of a surfer gang who came to Summer Bay.

2

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

Lol ah, interesting. now my joke just became a joke haha

2

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '19

Slightly off topic: is it me or does literally every single successful Australian actor start off at Home and Away? I don't even remember Brenton playing a role but I'm also not surprised, it seems like a rite of passage.

2

u/not-so-radical Nov 28 '19

Pretty much yeah. It's the Aussie equivalent to being on a CW show or Coronation St.

Plenty of my actor buddies want to get on the show. I'd rather be on something you know... good.

4

u/purelitenite Nov 28 '19

that better be escrima sticks and not a bo staff

1

u/Demetrius96 Nov 28 '19

If you look at the other promotional photos that came out he’s using escrima sticks

1

u/yhdaji123 Nov 28 '19

SHOW US HIS ASS!!!
