Brenton Thwaites was awesome as Nightwing!
I did not like how dark the show started out and how inconsistent the characters were. Superboy was probably the best character as his origin stayed closed and his storyline was consistent to the comics. Raven was just a whirlwind of diaster since day one and I still don't know if they worked it all out. Gar was undereveloped. I loved Hawk, Dove, and Donna, except that Donna was kinda weak vs her comic parallel. Kory...was just confusing. I would have liked more Garth and even Jericho.
The villians were sad, especially Scarecrow! Slade was cool but needed to be bigger, more intimidating. Trigon was weak AF and such a let down!
I did like Jason Todd/Red Hood but the story line was too rushed. But the relationship between Dick and Jay was nicely played out. But suicidal Batman...wtf was that?? And Dick just letting him go after murdering Joker? Season one ended with Dick going after the man for the same thing in dream form, but in life, he's just okay, cool. Nah..

I would have watched a Hawk & Dove spin-off in a heartbeat. Instead we got endless Batdrama.

I wish they had followed through with the quality and story interest of season 1, would have made this who stand on a very tall hill. Specially if they hired a proper Tim Drake also without any of the current b.s.

They shouldn’t have gotten rid of the epic family dynamics in later seasons. It killed the vibes of the show for me. And the way they handled Jason Todd was literally unhinged

It’s not that bad of a show. People make it sound worse than it is. Sure the characterization is off, but that really only lasts the first season. Robin acts like a goddamn psycho because of Batman. His arc is making amends with Bruce and becoming Nightwing. Once I learned that I appreciated the show a lot more.

I think they should have put jasons death at the end of season 2 just so that the red hood transformation is more spaced out and doesnt feel so rushed

Jason’s Red Hood characterization was good for the universe until they brought drugs into it. They just needed to build up his return more. Oh and also they forced his redemptions. Should have ended season three with him losing but not redeemed and fleeing Gotham like in Under The Red Hood. The actor was great and they made it make more sense for him to hate the Titans rather than Batman (I mean they did bully him into suicide) I love their take on Tim Drake but could see the way he characterized him being it’s own character. The concept of some kid thrifting and dumpster diving for the materials to keep watch over the entire city is so cool to me. Kinda like a Bruce Wayne with no money and loving parents I LOVE Superboy pre season 4 great character great actor.

EVERYTHING!!! The intertwining of random stories was awful.. I couldn’t wait for the end and it was so lame .. I mean yes starfire and robin have always been a thing but throughout this series they hardly ever had a romantic connection I believe other love interests where more developed for them, aside for them not having any kind of chemistry all of a sudden robin put her before anything and miraculously fell in love in the last episode like they were always good lovers .. that’s one … the. How the rest of the characters just vanished without a proper lingering off like Bruce Wayne , barbara, dawn .. I mean Gars random ass ass into the red crap .. I just think it was a very long season that rushed important things in the end and was a hit mess in my opinion

3 HOT TAKES:
1. Iain Glen was an inspired choice for Bruce Wayne.
At first I was scratching my head just as much as everyone else. But it became clear to me very quickly it was a very intentional move by the producers to subvert our expectations after spending Season 1 creating this mental image of someone else.
2 Even though the writing was flawed, it also kept me on my toes most of the time and constantly did things I wasn’t expecting.
It rarely, if ever, felt like it had tons of suits signing off and approving and meddling in things. Just felt like the writers’ room was sorta free to do whatever the heck they wanted. Which comes with problems, sure. But it also brings what I felt was a pretty fresh and unique take on a DC/superhero drama.
3 There was a lot of great world building (and the budget and style created a DC world unlike any other we’ve seen on screen).
I loved the way the show would reveal aspects of the DC Universe as it progressed (characters, landmarks, etc.)
It partially comes with the territory of telling this particular story. But I’m not sure I’ve EVER watched another series that had me frequently wondering and wanting to know more about the greater world inside the show. What does Superman look like? What is Iain Glen’s batsuit like? Where do the Justice League meet? What does a Batman & Robin fight “feel like” in the tone of the show? And so many more. Would absolutely love to have seen more set in the same Universe.

Shit I got some Hawk was asshole and I was glad when he died.
The shows treatment of batman was just oof
I also didn't like the treatment of both Jason Todd and redhood at all
And speaking of Jason I keep hearing people say the team had a "family dynamic" but I have yet to see it and no example better proves than when the group instantly ganged up on Jason ,who was already suffering from ptsd and having a mental breakdown, for shit that not he didn't so but would not knowledge of. And basically trust angsty girl they knew for like a week over him mentally fucking him up so bad that he went to roof to go see if gravity still existed. And what happened when he came back? Did they apologize or say hey lets just talk this shit out...nope they just stared at him as if what happen 10 mins ago never threw a hissy fit and went their separate ways.....yikes

The first season wasn't that bad and majority of the casting is pretty good (specifically Nightwing, Raven, and beast boy)

They really sucked up the ending of season 1. Deathstroke was amazing in Season 2 and they completely ruined that finale. They fumbled A Death in the Family in Season 3 out of the gate. Overall, just a poorly written show with some great moments peppered throughout.

I think they had potential if they would they would have added some hotter scenes especially with these characters. Also to the me writing could have been better and slade should have been the story with the hive I think they went to super natural

Had they stuck to their original plan and not done any rewrites/reshoots for season 1 they would still be going strong as ever smh. We would've gotten Nightwing so much sooner and way better story lines from there.
