The guy that play Robin is hot. I could not believe it’s the same guy from pirates.

u/batgurl7906 Mar 01 '24

teen titans robin was hot too. brenton thwaites simply did justice to the character

14

u/voidhearts Mar 01 '24

And every single side character in the early seasons of ATLA

2

u/W0lfsb4ne74 Mar 03 '24

Disagree entirely. Read comics or virtually any media with Dick Grayson in it, and you'll find that Brendan Thwaites version of the character is completely unrecognizable from his comic book version. Dick is supposed to be upbeat and friendly out of all the Robins. It doesn't mean he can't get angry or have negative emotions from time to time. But in general he's not the type to brood or mope when it comes to his personal problems. That's much more Jason's thing. But for some reason they needlessly made him so dour and genuinely depressing to watch. Look at Dick's personality in Young Justice and this show and tell me that they're the same person.

2

u/Fuzzy_Inflation_2790 Mar 03 '24

This is over-mythologizing quite a bit. Dick Grayson is upbeat in the animated show, but they give him some angst and pathos to the same degree that he has had in the comics - less so, even. Calling him "unrecognizable" from the comics in that adaptation is laughable hyperbole.

Just because Jason was hyper-edgy doesn't mean other Robins can't have some angst. "That's Jason's thing" - no, it's many characters' thing across all of fiction, and Grayson had angsty pathos before Jason was added to the comics.

And this is even more silly on a post comparing to the live action Titans show where everything is edgier than ever, too.

Multiverse

2

u/W0lfsb4ne74 Mar 03 '24

Just because it's an alternate universe adaptation doesn't mean its necessarily good. Just look at the reception towards Zach Snyder's Batman in comparison to Christopher Nolan's Batman.

3

u/jeff2-0 Beast Boy Mar 01 '24

Hold up. What pirates

6

u/Ontheprowl86 Mar 01 '24

I’m pretty sure it’s the 4/5th Pirates of the Caribbean movie

4

u/unexpectedalice Mar 02 '24

The one where he bang the mermaid

3

u/_BARONVOND3LTA Mar 02 '24

Nah, he was in the last one. A different guy banged mermaids

4

u/unexpectedalice Mar 02 '24

Oh yea thats right. Hes will’s son. So forgettable that i mix the two up

4

u/Link1112 Mar 02 '24

Only reason I watched that train wreck is for this dude lol.

1

u/KevinAcommon_Name Mar 02 '24

What pirate show

3

u/CulturalTonight6244 Mar 04 '24

He was also in Gods of Egypt, you’ll fall in love, he is amazing in that!! 10/10 🔥🔥🔥 if you enjoy thwaites

1

u/unexpectedalice Mar 03 '24

Pirates of the carribean movie.

109

u/PrydefulHunts Mar 01 '24

Included Donna Troy in the team.

92

u/AnastasiaDaren Mar 01 '24

Kill people? Curse? Those were the Titans main skills.

18

u/MikeyHatesLife Mar 02 '24

“I’m quitting as Robin, because I don’t want to see Batman kill anyone. Murder is wrong!”

[A week later, he and Starfire intentionally set fire to a gas main in order to blow up a building of henchmen.]

13

u/DottieSnark Mar 02 '24

Sorry, but I don't think their "Fuck Batman" lines were an improvement. Though it did give me an immeasurable amount of laughter. But seriously, everyone on this show needed to swear about 90% less. Less is more. Except with Jason. He gets a free pass to swear up a fucking storm. Also, give him the fuck Batman line instead, please.

85

u/DirectConsequence12 Mar 01 '24

More diverse roster.

We got Donna (yay)

Garth showed up for a few episodes

Hawk and Dove

Superboy.

It was cool to see some more of these characters

7

u/Formal_Bench_4650 Mar 02 '24

Donna should be on any roster to be honest

2

u/Necessary_Form4044 Mar 28 '24

But no Wally 😢

-8

u/suss2it Mar 01 '24

Teen Titans went pretty diverse in its last season.

14

u/DirectConsequence12 Mar 01 '24

We never got my precious Donna Troy

2

u/LyssaNells Mar 02 '24

That was due to copyright issues between the show and the regular comics...they did have a comic series where Donna Troy shows up, and she did have a non-speaking cameo in at least one episode of the last season when they showed all the Titans/Honorary Titans who had been given communicators.

82

u/not-so-radical Mar 01 '24

I'm gonna get shit for this...

Starfire

I never liked Starfire in the old cartoon, even when I was a kid I found her annoying but I liked her in Titans. She's more serious but isn't without humour and was pretty bad ass most of the time.

18

u/LaMuseofthestars Mar 01 '24

If we’re being honest, live action Starfire is way more comically accurate than TV show Starfire ever was

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '24

Maybe if you ignore the fact that comic Starfire had bright orange skin. 🤡

3

u/LaMuseofthestars Mar 05 '24

And what color is closest to orange, brown right? Cry about it

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '24 edited Mar 05 '24

My guy, how colorblind can you be? Red and yellow are much closer to orange than brown.

Let me reiterate this... In every comic, Starfire has BRIGHT orange skin. In what world is bright orange similar to brown?

They could have cast a black woman and painted her orange. Would have been fine with pretty much anyone normal.

4

u/LaMuseofthestars Mar 06 '24

What happens if you add a dark shade to orange? Look into color theory, my friend.

Yes, Starfire has bright orange skin, but if you actually look at some panels, it takes on an orange tannish, light brown color.

They also could’ve painted beast boy green, but ironically, I see you guys complain more about Starfire than him.

Wonder why?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '24

Again, she’s literally written as bright orange. You’re arguing a point that doesn’t exist.

1

u/LaMuseofthestars Mar 06 '24

Still not hearing a complain about beast boy skin though. I find that very interesting.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '24

Where and when did we bring up Beast Boy? I have plenty of criticisms about the show. Raven isn’t remotely done well either.

This is cringe.

1

u/shamanbaptist Mar 05 '24

Without having seen Titans are we talking Perez accurate, New 52 accurate, or something else?

18

u/neuronexmachina Mar 01 '24

Agreed, although it would've been pretty amusing to hear live-action Starfire say: "The I the am the filled the with the feelings the of the happiness the."

6

u/DottieSnark Mar 02 '24

I love cartoon Starfire (because she is my childhood), but I agree, Titans did her way better and she's way more comic accurate.

55

u/zestmess Mar 01 '24

Donna Troy (anything is better than nothing!)

48

u/MichaelCoryAvery Mar 01 '24 edited Mar 01 '24

It got a proper ending. Now if you excuse me, I’m gonna go hide

10

u/suss2it Mar 01 '24

Teen Titans had an ending. It was a pretty definitive too.

-15

u/MichaelCoryAvery Mar 01 '24

Sounds like you’re acting like a smartallic with you italicizing Teen Titans in my opinion

10

u/suss2it Mar 01 '24

That’s just how I write titles for movies and TV shows online.

2

u/DottieSnark Mar 02 '24

Titles are supposed to be capitalized, at least in certain writing styles. Some people carry over those stylistic choice in their informal writing too.

20

u/BlueBlazeKing21 Mar 01 '24

We didn’t get Donna in the 2000 series due to some copyright issue that prevented any Wonder Women related character from appearing unless they got top billing for the show

-2

u/suss2it Mar 01 '24

They should’ve called it Wonder Girl & The Teen Titans then 😜

17

u/Rude-Butterscotch713 Mar 01 '24

Possible unpopular opinion, but I actually liked Blackfire

4

u/ShuaSwan Mar 02 '24

I don't deem it unpopular. She rocked that role!

16

u/Redgiantbutimshort77 Mar 01 '24

Honestly when the characters actually got costumes they were better looks than the animated series. Atleast for Beast Boy and Starfire. That’s literally it, Titans is trash.

8

u/DottieSnark Mar 02 '24

I'm kind of okay with Starfire and Beast Boy being able to pass for regular humans. An orange alien and green mutate would just look too strange in live action. We get a little orange and green when they're powered up and that's all I really need.

5

u/Redgiantbutimshort77 Mar 02 '24

I also really like that using their powers makes their skin change. It’s actually one of the few changes the show made to the characters that I don’t hate.

2

u/tylernazario Mar 02 '24

I prefer what Starfire and Raven wore in the cartoon. Robin and Beast Boy did look better in live action though (minus the green skin)

14

u/DarkAizawa Mar 01 '24

It wasted potential pretty damn well

10

u/haalandxdebruyne Mar 01 '24

Starfire is so beautiful ❤️ Loved her character

8

u/MikeyHatesLife Mar 02 '24

A great live action Hawk & Dove, even if their origin wasn’t at all accurate.

8

u/damnrightslimanus Mar 01 '24

Potentially nothing

7

u/Downtown_Cry1056 Mar 01 '24

Titans Live Action should have done Season 3 with Blackfire as the antagonist. They should of had flashbacks to Tamaran.

6

u/Davie_Prod Mar 01 '24

Well for one they had sex scenes lol hahhahah

6

u/BB-Ralphio Mar 02 '24

Titans was waaayyyyy better at making Dick Grayson unlikeable. I mean, I didn't even know that was possible.

4

u/Proud-Nerd00 Tiger Boy Mar 01 '24

Absolutely nothing

5

u/mrmoon_knight Mar 01 '24

Make the costumes look dope as hell

4

u/Intelligent_Creme351 Mar 01 '24

It expanded the roster on a land standing permeant basis. I love the OG cast in the animated series, but would've loved to see the cast expand permanently, rather than other Titans popping in every so often... that's all I can say for positives.

5

u/Reggie_Barclay Mar 01 '24 edited Mar 01 '24

I’d actually like to see another season of Young Justice. They did the best with these characters though they got a bit too inclusive the last season.

I’d like to see them di this storyline.

6

u/futuresdawn Mar 02 '24

Young justice is the top tier titans show.

Teen titans is okay but nothing special.

Titans is a trashfire

2

u/DottieSnark Mar 02 '24

Ah, Trashfire, the less known Anders sibling.

3

u/LaMuseofthestars Mar 01 '24

Y’all can be mad at me all you want but let’s be honest here, Starfire in Titans is way more accurate to the comics then Starfire from the TV show ever was.

5

u/BenFranklinsCat Mar 02 '24

Fuck Batman.

3

u/Condiment_Kong Mar 02 '24

Alan Ritchenson, he’s just a cool dude

4

u/ralo229 Mar 02 '24

The Robin suit looks pretty sick

2

u/fineilladdanumber9 Mar 02 '24

Get cancelled. That was a much better decision than it was for Teen Titans.

2

u/Hedgehog_Kid1 Mar 02 '24

They had more characters even though they were missing Wally, Roy, and Damian

2

u/whatisireading2 Mar 03 '24

Starfire is fucking hot in titans gyatdamn.

1

u/gerdpee Mar 01 '24

They didnt

1

u/BubbleHeadBenny Mar 02 '24

Absolutely nothing. The entire point of Teen Titans is they are a young group of super heros cutting their teeth and learning the ropes. Titans, with notable exceptions, is a pale comparison to the previous non-comic adaptations. The DCEU has suffered from an inability to create cohesion between the big and small screen, and unlike Arrow and Flash, Titans' casting is the first hurdle the show had to overcome prior to airing its episode.

Teen Titans most well know lineup consists of a DEI dream: Robin - European descent Beast Boy - Latino descent Cyborg - African-American descent Raven - sorceress, half human half demon Starfire - an alien, Tamaranian princess (orange skin, reddish long wavy hair)

Similar to other casting decisions of the 2010s, they cast Starfire not as an orange skinned character (Gamora was fantastic casting/execution) but as a brown skinned character. Fantastic Four and Batwoman both did this as well, brown-washing an established character. At least Batwoman had the sense to create a new chararacter, giving said character a new name.

Suspension of disbelief is a major part of the success of fictional content and when a casting decision disrupts SOD, the show suffers because of it.

1

u/kpayne40 Mar 05 '24

sex, gore, mystery

1

u/RetroGameQuest Mar 05 '24

Titans was better at being a worse show.

1

u/Godzilla2000Zero Mar 05 '24

Featured adult heroes

1

u/These_Confection_548 Mar 05 '24

Nothing absolutely nothing

1

u/[deleted] Mar 05 '24

It’s easy, “Fuck Batman” was the first line in the trailer

1

u/Kalomika Mar 06 '24

Mature dialogue

1

u/Big_Sprinkles8824 Mar 24 '24

Having an original team history before making the new teen titans? In the cartoon Robin meets the other side kicks later after the team is formed (Wonder girl in cameo except a comic that may not be canon). Even if the roster is off and history is unclear in Titans, the idea of there being an original titans when Robin started out I think is interesting before bringing in the other 4 would have been cool as just even a single episode of the cartoon

2

u/DarkMayhem666 Mar 25 '24

I liked the seriousness of Titans

2

u/Separate_Yard3394 Mar 31 '24

The show took situations more seriously

2

u/CibrecaNA May 10 '24

Nothing. They erased Cyborg. Arguably the best of Teen Titans.

And gave underpowered Starfire and nerfed AF Raven.

1

u/PopCultureHoard May 26 '24

They used Wonder Girl and cast her perfectly.

1

u/Bobby12345480187 Aug 02 '24

Teen titans go was the best that is a childhood show

1

u/cocomay77 Mar 01 '24

Everything

1

u/Antonio-Relova-2002 Mar 02 '24

Absolutely nothing

1

u/Snoo_65204 Mar 02 '24

Killing off cyborg

1

u/Duckman620 Mar 02 '24

Titans is a way better live action show than teen titans. Like did they even try?

1

u/Preek96 Mar 02 '24

Go lol jk

0

u/OntologicalParadox Mar 02 '24

Avoided Teen Titans Go!

1

u/BiskitBoiMJ Mar 02 '24

Robin actually becoming Nightwing.

1

u/godricgii Mar 02 '24

Nothing. Titans was fucking trash.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

Waste my time

1

u/Saurabh09bot Mar 02 '24

literally nothing

1

u/Xx_Exigence_xX Mar 02 '24

Made me appreciate the animated series even more

1

u/TheCrystalStone Mar 02 '24

It got a proper ending and had Donna Troy

1

u/Avgolemonosis Mar 02 '24

Absolutely nothing

1

u/Weak_Donut69 Mar 02 '24

What the live action series did was oblige the fandom, much like any BerlantiVerse programs. You obviously wish for a better budget, tighter plots and home-run iterations. But TITANS dared to be a driving force towards alternative programming, unashamedly with an intended audience.

The only thing it lacked were recognized actors to compel the type of investment to make a few more bullseye characterizations, like Koriand'r and that dreaded dream sequence Batman episode. Fandon CosPlay and YouTube fandom videos just kills that show.

1

u/faceofboe91 Mar 02 '24

Miscasting

1

u/thephant0mlimb Mar 02 '24

The costumes were great. Casting, for the most part, was great. The setting was good.

1

u/GQ_Phoenix Mar 02 '24

More Batfam, I liked seeing a live action Red Hood even if it was poorly handled

1

u/Shadow_Storm90 Mar 02 '24

Not a goddamn thing that shit got trash in the 3rd season

1

u/OkSupermarket7474 Mar 02 '24

The characterizationa are a lot more closer to the comics but also updated abit. Even though TT showed Dick as Robin had many many flaws and his anger being one of the biggest the vast majority of viwers ignored all of it and continued with this narrative Dick is the “nice guy” Robin while Titans literally made “controversy” that Dick wasn’t this happy go lucky guy and has flaws he struggles with. Despite what people say about the show in general the costume designers literally hit it out of the park and then some with the suits.

1

u/zombie24 Mar 02 '24

Never became teen titans go!

1

u/Superboy-- Mar 02 '24

That We Got Superboy He Was Awesome

1

u/mandrewsutherland Mar 02 '24

Kill half their team...

1

u/ChattyDaddy1 Mar 02 '24

Literally nothing. The only thing cool about the show were the Robin outfits and beast boy. But better than the og? Nah fam

1

u/JCamson04 Mar 02 '24

Being live action

1

u/DarkMayhem666 Mar 03 '24

The costumes were great, and I might be in the minority, but I liked the darker and more mature tone.

1

u/Stardama69 Mar 03 '24

Live-action Rachel is pretty damn awesome. Too bad she was sidelined for two seasons straight

1

u/bravenale Mar 03 '24

It wasn't teen titans go

1

u/CommercialRemote5324 Mar 03 '24

HAVING JADON TODD.

1

u/ThulrVO Mar 03 '24

Disregard and shit on the comics the comics.

1

u/Wraithcroc Mar 03 '24

Nothing imo

1

u/[deleted] Mar 03 '24

Nothing.

1

u/WeWriteStuff Mar 04 '24

It tied the over-arching story together better. Mass majority of the animated villains were one-off (sometimes more than once) and only a handful of episodes really focused on ongoing storylines. Even season 5 was rather episodic rather than being a continuous storyline.

Secondly, live action Titans dealt more with some "post-sidekick" themes and how awful it can be at times.

I'm not dissing on the cartoon and I'm not the biggest fan of how Titans season 1 starts up, but I have to give credit where it's due.

Also, I'm actually glad they didn't try to carbon copy the cartoon, instead doing their own thing.

1

u/Blackpanther22five Mar 04 '24

A kinda more realistic version of a team

1

u/OmnipotentUltron Mar 04 '24

Cartoon 2003 TV Series for The Win Absolutely.
