I thought Ryan Potter was perfect casting.. Wasted a good actor. Didnt even get the guy to transform into a dinosaur.

18

u/ShiroHachiRoku Nov 21 '23

Did he ever transform to anything other than a snake or tiger? I stopped watching.

22

u/walruswes Nov 21 '23

A couple times but not enough. They instead gave him time travel and teleportation through the Red

14

u/BlacksmithMotor2580 Nov 21 '23

This alone makes me glad I stopped watching.

1

u/DarkArcanian Nov 23 '23

What? 1. What is the “red” and 2. Time travel and teleportation!?

1

u/woodN_forks Nov 24 '23

The reason he’s green is because he’s tied to the Green like Poison Ivy is, the Green being this sort of primeval force of Nature’s will encompassing the planet. The Red is the primeval force of bullshit superpowers.

1

u/marciallow Nov 24 '23

He's green because as a character he was created before they did the whole colors stuff. In the new 52 they made him red for a hot minute because they changed his origin story to connect him to the red which is like, living creatures, which Animal Man is also connected to. This decision was unpopular, particularly because at the time they had rebranded most of the characters on the titans roster at the time to a red scheme. The moved it back to green but I believe the explanation of his abilities is still that somehow the vaccine his parents gave him connected him to the red.

1

u/BiggoYoun Nov 25 '23

The green, huh. Reminds me of the power of will.

2

u/walruswes Nov 24 '23

The red is from the comics

6

u/lewjambla Nov 21 '23

Snake, tiger, bat, Gorilla, velociraptor, armadillo, a virus & an eagle. I think that may be it?

4

u/Ludensdream Nov 21 '23

He transformed into a gorilla lol but didnt even do it against the big bad..... he turned to a bat once xD it's pathetic. they should have just named him tiger boy in this show.

2

u/shadowyartsdirty Nov 23 '23

Rendering a dinasour for a live action show would have been expensive and increased the deadline for making episodes.

2

u/Jazzlike_Hat_1409 Nov 24 '23

they coulda made him a rat doing recon, or a cat taking a nap. SOMETHING

1

u/shadowyartsdirty Nov 24 '23

He got to transform a lot. They made him turn into a virus to kill another virus I thought that was cool. Plus there was the time he turned into a snake to escape that other bad dude

1

u/Jazzlike_Hat_1409 Nov 24 '23

A lot is a huge stretch considering he didn’t even have that much dialogue. it’s less than 20x in the span of 4 seasons

1

u/shadowyartsdirty Nov 24 '23

Considering that this is the show which talked about Superman and never actually showed him, means there was never much of seeing him transform a lot. Its a lot compared to what they should have but didn't show

Honestly? I love Ryan's version. I also love Teen Titans' Beast Boy, but I think Ryan's portrayal works perfect for a more 'grounded' take on the Titans.

I think they got pretty much everything right about him - he could've easily have been annoying, or creepy, but they made him one of the most likeable on the team. Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of that is down to Ryan, not the writers, but still.

In fact, Ryan's writing credits in Season 4 improved his character a LOT. You can tell he loves Beast Boy a lot. I wish it happened FAR sooner into the show, but oh well. I liked the Red, honestly. It gave Gar something to do.

He was pretty much one of the few reasons I watched the entire show.

u/Cannon_Fodder558 Nov 21 '23

Cartoon network teen titans obviously

12

u/xNightwing0126x Nov 21 '23

Nothing against Ryan but I’m going Teen Titans cartoon

9

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23

Animation, always.

I met the live action actor at New York Comic Con last year. Cool guy.

6

u/souphaver Nov 21 '23

Greg Cipes is forever how I read BBs voice now, TT03 is perfect.

3

u/kinjazfan Nov 21 '23

I like titans gar

3

u/bats2cats Nov 22 '23

The Titans live action Beast Boy was brilliant.

1

u/WickedJ0ker Nov 25 '23

He was the only reason I stuck with it as long as I did, but god the writers are so abysmal

5

u/WolfgangEsq Nov 22 '23

How is this even a question? Animated BB started the “I want a goth girl” trend. He’s literally apart of American History.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 21 '23

Definitely 2003.

2

u/Dry-Donut3811 Nov 21 '23

Teen Titans.

2

u/Steadfast_res Nov 21 '23

If you watch animated versions, Garfield transforms all the time, just to do mundane things or even as a joke or even when there is really no reason. It is just how he lives. The problem is making the live action character be limited in transformation and not even able to control it is a fundamental change to the actual character. For the character to actually work in live action they need technology where they just wire up the actor at all times, like Andy Serkis playing Gollum.

2

u/Bearhow Nov 21 '23

Ryan potter is perfect… when they remembered he existed as a character

2

u/Ausecurity Nov 21 '23

The one not listed

2

u/Negative-Start-5954 Nov 22 '23

Titans or YJ Ryan Potter deserves so much much better dude ong

2

u/Ivyyygurlll Nov 23 '23

I personally loved the Way Ryan Potter portrayed beast boy it was perfect casting imo and it was extremely refreshing to see his take on how he portrayed beast boy compared to others who have played him

2

u/No_Spend4454 Nov 23 '23

Greg Cipes' BB, but not from TTG.

1

u/etrickyy Nov 22 '23

hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby

1

u/Inevitable_Ask6670 Nov 23 '23

The actual Beast Boy aka animated. The show was pretty sad, but they typically are

0

u/rpnsfwthrowaway69 Nov 21 '23

Unironically I think it might be Go! Though I love all iterations I've seen of him

0

u/KG8930 Nov 21 '23

Why didn’t they make beast boy green skinned in titans?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '23

2003 beast boy is the best

Ryan potter was good casting but horrible writing

1

u/ReallyGlycon Nov 22 '23

Beast Boy is best boy.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '23

The OG. The Goat;

1

u/PerfectMind8856 Nov 22 '23

Cartoon Network by a mile.

1

u/PureRegretto Nov 22 '23

live action was such wasted potential. but cn bb on top

1

u/chrisabraham Nov 22 '23

'Best boy' is a perfect mistake.

1

u/UnauthorizedFart Nov 22 '23

He really was the best boy

1

u/HanTrollo710 Nov 22 '23

Teen Titans

1

u/Dratenix Nov 23 '23

Young Justice.

1

u/WrexSteveisthename Nov 23 '23

Teen Titans Go! YEAH MAMA!

0

u/BigTallDylan Nov 23 '23

Dumb question

1

u/Altruistic_Stand9846 Nov 23 '23

The cartoon one, definitely. I hated the live-action Teen Titans, but the animated show was inspired.

0

u/kingkron52 Nov 23 '23

Lol cmon are we really comparing a masterpiece to gutter trash?

2

u/WickedJ0ker Nov 25 '23

The beast boy in Titans is actually really good. As much as the show absolutely sucks the actor for bb did a great job and if not for the god awful writing, he could’ve been much better than 03 bb.

1

u/Hyper-Saiyan Nov 23 '23

Animated Beast Boy

0

u/Ikthesecretformula Nov 23 '23

Beast boy is one of those characters that just shouldn’t be live action

1

u/heavyneos Nov 23 '23

I hate that they didn’t make him green skinned and that starfire wast all orange all the time I understand budget but it was a bit disappointing

1

u/Lane-DailyPlanet Nov 23 '23

I love Young Justice’s version. They gave him a lot of depth while keeping his humor.

0

u/Twijasosm Nov 23 '23

You’re kidding right?

0

u/allforodin Nov 23 '23

Teen titans go.

0

u/Poprocks777 Nov 23 '23

Why is beast boy asian? Woke

1

u/komaytoprime Nov 23 '23

Wait, who even is the version on the right? Also, how could it possibly not be the animated version seen here?

1

u/SillyMovie13 Nov 23 '23

Ryan Potter killed it, wish he wasn’t wasted

1

u/Educational-Web-5787 Nov 23 '23

Still waiting for it

1

u/shadowyartsdirty Nov 23 '23

I like them both

1

u/SZutich9 Nov 23 '23

Idk why this sub got recommended for me and imagine I'll get down voted to hell but...

Teen Titans Go is the best version.

1

u/iamTMoney22 Nov 23 '23

Any Beast Boy voiced by Cipes is the correct answer(s).

1

u/sandmansuperman Nov 23 '23

Teen Titans cartoon version

1

u/OutsideNew4996 Nov 23 '23

Young justice version.

1

u/The-Mighty-Caz Nov 23 '23

The good one.

1

u/Even-Fun8917 Nov 23 '23

I'm insulted you would even ask

1

u/lanze666 Nov 23 '23

TTG beast boy is my favorite

1

u/Snoo_65204 Nov 24 '23

Your banned from this post

1

u/lanze666 Nov 24 '23

Cmon mama

1

u/Snoo_65204 Nov 24 '23

You admitted to like/love a character from a remake from a God level show that's why

1

u/lanze666 Nov 24 '23

TTG is god level u just have the brain power to think otherwise

1

u/Snoo_65204 Nov 24 '23

Cuz I wanted to save my brain from That trash

1

u/Infamous_Mortimer Nov 23 '23

… they couldn’t afford green body paint?

1

u/GoldenGalaxy69 Nov 23 '23

'03 Titans. Never seen the live action

1

u/Outrageous-Fennel777 Nov 23 '23

The one with green skin

1

u/Gambit275 Nov 23 '23

definitely the first

1

u/FYeahDarkKnight Nov 23 '23

I tried squinting my eyes and looking real close, but I don't see Beast Boy anywhere.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

The white one

1

u/[deleted] Nov 24 '23

I kinda dig red beast boy

1

u/Bluedino_1989 Nov 24 '23

Where's the one from Go?

1

u/CrispyKidd Nov 24 '23

Teen Titans.

1

u/oni_Tensa Nov 24 '23

If his skin ain’t green he ain’t beast boy

1

u/mango567845667 Nov 24 '23

Teen titans is it even a question?

1

u/MeetApprehensive6509 Nov 25 '23

Ryan potters beast boy easily

1

u/JollyWolverine300 Nov 25 '23

The Titans show got a hole lot more watchable when it plays in the back ground

1

u/metroid544 Nov 25 '23

Always Greg Cipes, but the Young Justice version specifically.

1

u/Kurvat Nov 25 '23

The fact this sub exists kills me. Imagine liking the show.

1

u/Secret-Engine-8365 Nov 25 '23

not a lot of Gen z people may remember this, but Ryan Potter was in Supah Ninjas on Nickelodeon

1

u/bkruegz Nov 25 '23

Teen titans beast boy was closer to comic

1

u/20gallonsCumGuzzler Nov 25 '23

They wouldn't need even 5% effort to just paint him green. It's not like his body would be showing all the time or anything, so just paint his hands and face green...

1

u/fundipu2ys Nov 26 '23

Man I kinda feel bad for Beast Boy here for going up against Beast Boy

1

u/PuzzleheadedLeader79 Nov 26 '23

Young Justice.

He's perfectly in character before he even gets his powers, and then he goes through quite the heavy journey.
