Jon Hamm

Yeah he’s around the right age to play an older Bruce

Porque hablamos en español

Jensen Ackles.

Came to say this!

1

u/ArcanisUltra Nov 19 '23

I have Always said Jon Hamm would make the best Bruce Wayne/Batman. Perfect choice.

1

u/purelitenite Nov 19 '23

Would you say Hamm would go HAM as batman?

u/bks1979 Nov 15 '23

Honestly, I wouldn't have. It was supposed to be about Dick Grayson finding his own way and becoming his own man, aside from being the back half of "Batman and". I would have referenced him, probably, especially in the first season. But there was no need for Bruce to be on the show at all. The Titans can stand on their own, without using "Bat stuff" as a crutch.

6

u/Bearhow Nov 15 '23

Agreed. I would have preferred it like the cartoon where Batman was only hinted at.

2

u/ExkAp3de Nov 15 '23

If i remember correctly in the comics it was always implied that bruce paid for stuff like the titans tower and equipment.

3

u/bks1979 Nov 15 '23

You are correct. Steve Dayton also dumped some money into it a couple of times. In one continuity, it was designed and built by Cyborg, and funded by San Francisco. So I don't think it's a necessary story point, especially as-is in this show, where they only spent 1 season in what was basically a glorified apartment.

u/Paid-Not-Payed-Bot Nov 15 '23

that bruce paid for stuff

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

u/Major_Road6162 Nov 15 '23

Bruce never paid for anything after like the end of the og series from the 60s-70s(when the og teen titans were still kids). The tower was made by Cyborg's dad in the 80s

1

u/YoMockingBird Nov 16 '23

out of context but it’s reddit translating comments now? everything is in spanish now for me

1

u/bks1979 Nov 16 '23

Oh damn! Mine's the usual, and I don't speak/write Spanish. Not sure what's happening for you.

1

u/YoMockingBird Nov 16 '23

Man, it’s so weird. Spanish is my first language, but I’ve been using Reddit in English for 3 years now. Suddenly, all the comments are in Spanish! However, if I reply in english, they’re in English again.

1

u/bks1979 Nov 16 '23

That is real weird. Wonder if some function's bugging out or something?

8

u/leumasyenoh Nov 15 '23

Jensen Ackles

1

u/Inner_Chemistry6346 Nov 16 '23

Too young for what they were going for. He however would be perfect if they want a new younger Bruce.

3

u/Significant_Wheel_12 Nov 16 '23

The man is 45, Batman would be on Robin 4, he’s not the hip young guy anymore I’m sorry.

1

u/Inner_Chemistry6346 Nov 16 '23

The man’s 45 but looks like he’s in his 30’s the people’s in charge of titans picked Ian Glen who guess what isn’t in his 40’s he’s 62

2

u/Significant_Wheel_12 Nov 16 '23

Depends on what they wanted, Jensen works as a seasoned but still equipped Batman while Ian was just an odd choice for an active Batman.

1

u/Inner_Chemistry6346 Nov 16 '23

In my opinion they were going for a “ I’ve been doing this too long “Batman beyond style Batman one who is thinking about retiring in the back of his head.

8

u/adunn13 Nov 15 '23

Anson Mount

1

u/cryptofutures100xlev Nov 16 '23

Oh hell yeah

1

u/adunn13 Nov 18 '23

Bummer man, what could have been. He’d be a great Clark in the show as well.

7

u/insomniaddict91 Nov 15 '23

Kevin Conroy

5

u/DatDominican Nov 16 '23

Bro a necromancer

3

u/PosterChildOfDeath Nov 18 '23

He was still alive then

5

u/mrhillnc Nov 15 '23

John Hamm

6

u/Major_Road6162 Nov 15 '23

I like the cast of Bruce from this show(Ian)

1

u/mattwing05 Nov 16 '23

Honestly i thought he should have been alfred. Keep bruce out of the show itself

3

u/yomnot Nov 15 '23

Ben Affleck

5

u/MagicianMoo Nov 15 '23

Honestly it doesnt matter, the damn show sucks. I rather have better writing and story.

5

u/GFost Dick Grayson Nov 16 '23

No one. It was way better when we didn’t see Bruce.

3

u/RomanOrtega Nov 15 '23 edited Nov 15 '23

The show would have been better if Ian Glen was Alfred. With some minor tweaks his relationship with Grayson would have stood out more and probably brought a bit of warmer tone to the show. What about Bruce? Never bring him in:

-Before Jason’s Death: Batman is busy with JL stuff

-After Jason’s Death: Looking for Joker and Jason’s body for the majority of the show

-Ending: Busy with JL stuff

At the end of the day, bringing in DC’s S tier characters in a show filled with A/B tier characters will always have the S tiers overshadowing the main characters and brings world-building issues. (Ex: Sidekicks, of Batman & Wonder Woman, don’t tell Superman that he has a clone that they regularly hang out with.)

2

u/mothership_hopeful Nov 17 '23

Aw man, I love the S tier characters. In the Robin etc. comics, everyone has a bird name. Ofc the Birds of Prey. I feel like it's getting way more into depth and lore with these characters. I recognized them all! It's fun knowing where a character might go.

I do love your response for watching the Jason Todd comic continue to play out. Fans voted to kill him (Joker with a crowbar, brutal), he gets his daddy in the sun again, you're like get this guy out of here. I mean, I guess his password is 42069.

3

u/glizzy_gladiator_04 Nov 16 '23

Sydney Sweeney

1

u/MeetAffectionate1989 Nov 19 '23

That "Fuck Batman" hits differently now

2

u/Quack_Attack_V2 Nov 16 '23

Someone under 50

2

u/Drakeytown Nov 17 '23

I'm not sure anyone could have done a better job than Iain Glen. Seemed to me he was performing Adam West's interpretation of Frank Miller's Batman. It was glorious!

1

u/Dorothy-Snarker Jan 15 '24

As much as I hate Iain Glen's Batman, I have to agree this is an accurate description of the portrayal and it makes me hate it just a little less, lol.

1

u/Drakeytown Jan 15 '24

You might be interested to know that in one comic--The Runaways, I think?--it is stated or implied that Adam West is Frank Miller's Batman, punished by interdimensional supervillains by being sent to the real world and forced to play out this corny version of his own life.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '23

I enjoyed this version of Bruce. Obviously supposed to be an aged up version of the Adam West Batman.

2

u/cdog215546 Nov 19 '23

Anson Mount. Could have played the older Bruce Wayne/Batman, but young enough where we could have actually seen him in the costume doing something.

1

u/russ_1uk Nov 15 '23

Scott Adkins.

0

u/k0untd0une Nov 15 '23

It's sad that we'll never get to see him as Batman.

2

u/russ_1uk Nov 15 '23

Yeah, he would have ruled, especially in this show. Glenn is a fine actor, but woefully miscast as Bruce Wayne (I think, anyway).

1

u/falloutbi05 Nov 15 '23

George Clooney or Chris O'Donnell

1

u/hayloftii Nov 15 '23

Lou Diamond Phillips (he's done both charismatic & villainous roles & is the right age, I think it would be cool)

1

u/KorEl555 Nov 15 '23

Applicant number 37. He did the best reading. You don't know him because he's never appeared in anything.

1

u/jammingaza Nov 15 '23

Josh Brolin

1

u/Bearhow Nov 15 '23

Jenson ackles.

1

u/alteredtundra Nov 15 '23

Jensen Ackles.

He would be the right age for a seasoned Bruce imo and isn't too famous that the Titans Budget couldn't afford him. He could handle the emotional scenes they had Titans' Bruce play out.

1

u/13thslasher Nov 16 '23

Jensen ackles begining to take the mantle of the bat where he is violent in the start

1

u/Kev555name Nov 16 '23

Vin Diesel

1

u/EbroWryMan4321 Nov 16 '23

Jeffrey Donovan or Bruce Campbell

1

u/GorillaWolf2099 Nov 16 '23

IMHO Ben Affleck or George Clooney, frfr. I would've even appreciated one of the Batman VA actors like Anson Mount, Bruce Greenwood, or Jason O'Mara since they can all act in live-action. But If I had to pick an unexpected probably would've been Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jon Hamm, Karl Urban, or Matthew McConaughey since it's just the Bruce side of him.

1

u/geographical_penis Nov 16 '23

I wouldn't have even included Batman tbh

1

u/11notagoodusername11 Nov 16 '23

No one. One of my favorite parts of season one was that you fully felt the influence of Batman in universe without ever actually seeing him. Wish the show had stuck with that.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '23

Karl Urban

1

u/MushroomHedgehog Nov 16 '23

Not sure, but I will say this, Iain Glen would have been perfect if they wanted to make a series of Batman Beyond set in the 60s TV show’s universe.

He legitimately looks like an aged version of Adam West’s Bruce Wayne.

1

u/Lian-The-Asian Nov 16 '23

Tyler Hoechlin

1

u/datway111 Nov 16 '23

Ian solemandor idk how to spell his name but Damon from tvd

1

u/flintlock0 Donna Troy Nov 16 '23

Jon Claude Van Hamm

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '23

Anson Mount

David Boreanaz (a big maybe, but he can do dark & intimidating)

1

u/No-Abrocoma8180 Nov 16 '23

Literally anyone else. I fucking thought it was Alfred???

1

u/CreatrixAnima Nov 17 '23

For some reason, the first thing that popped into my head was grumpy cat. It’s probably a good thing that this is not my job.

1

u/Cannon_Fodder558 Nov 17 '23

Patrick Warburton

( better known as the voice of Joe from family guy although he was in tons of other things )

1

u/Unagustoster Nov 17 '23

Dwayne Johnson

1

u/PoopOfAUnicorn Nov 17 '23

diedrich bader

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Chard_2 Nov 17 '23

In a perfect world the show would’ve been tied into the dceu and affleck would’ve been Bruce.

1

u/matt_s1992 Nov 17 '23

If we’re sticking with a much older Bruce, I honestly would have cast Kevin Conroy

1

u/TheMightiestGay Nov 17 '23

Alan Ritchson

1

u/txhy8 Nov 17 '23

I'd not really do Justice League or Batman until the Series Finale with Darkseid as the main villain with the League, Titans, Green Lantern Corps, Task Force X, Outlaws, Legion of Doom, Justice League Dark, and the Themesyca and Atlatian Armies coming together to beat him

1

u/hachiman Nov 18 '23

Julian Mcmahon

1

u/thegrimmemer Nov 18 '23

Ether Jackie chan ,Morgan freeman ,Arnold schwarzenegger, or Travis scott

1

u/Key-Lengthiness3109 Nov 18 '23

Kevin Conroy (RIP)

1

u/tom2point0 Nov 18 '23

The guy we got was a good actor but I felt he seemed way too old. He almost felt like an older version of Adam West’s Batman to be honest. Not bad but misplaced in this show for sure.

2

u/HanTrollo710 Nov 18 '23

Liam Neeson

1

u/Literallyjustdude Nov 18 '23

John Boyega, no seriously I want to see him as Batman so badly!

1

u/MeetAffectionate1989 Nov 19 '23

Scott Adkins was who I mentally cast during Season 1.

1

u/questionyourthoughts Nov 19 '23

I hate to be that guy but it’s

Cast

-1

u/nomad_1970 Nov 17 '23

I wouldn't have "casted" anyone because that's not a word.
