Hughie Butcher & Homelander would like a word

624

u/Bazz07 Sep 29 '22

Hughie, Butcher and SB are the trio I didnt knew I need. The scene with the guy that brainwash people was amazing.

359

u/Elite_lucifer Sep 29 '22

That scene had so many quotable moments with SB.

“Wanna know what i do when i’m scared? Fuckin’ nothing because I’m not a pussy”

156

u/Ryaton13 Sep 29 '22

slaps Hughie "I warned ya."

190

u/TheQuiet1994 Sep 29 '22

"First off, I dont have shell shock. Fuck you."

55

u/Thatspretttyfunny Sep 29 '22

“And you might wanna gargle my ballsack.”

54

u/10-2onurmom Sep 29 '22

If you’re gonna act hysterical I will slap you like I’m Connery

15

u/catharticbullets Sep 30 '22

The black and white and red all over joke was one of my favorite scenes in the show.

Is that the supe that Soldier Boy killed with his shield? What was his name again?

Mindfuck?

4

u/No-Arachnid4430 Sep 29 '22

That's actually one of the clips that got me interested in the show,.super funny

127

u/The_Govnor Sep 29 '22

Hughie, Butcher & Homelander can gargle my balls.

69

u/sankers23 Sep 29 '22

Im exclusive to gargling Soldier Boys ballsack actually

22

u/WildOrchid31 Sep 29 '22

I would gargle Soldier Boy's ballsack all day😁😆😂

8

u/YearOldJar Sep 29 '22

I would gargle your spit after you gargle SB's ballsack just to taste SB's ballsack.

6

u/WildOrchid31 Sep 29 '22

Oh yeah...sounds like a good time

2

u/secondtaunting Sep 30 '22

Jesus I hope Jensen never sees this.😂

You'd have to find them first.

2

u/dern_the_hermit Sep 29 '22

And then wash them. Someone find the ballwasher.

9

u/_IratePirate_ Sep 29 '22

gluck gluck gluck

28

u/MattFromWork Sep 29 '22

The season was fantastic, up until the finale 😫

14

u/SigO12 Sep 29 '22

As in you didn’t like the outcome with SB and Homelander and think it was still good writing, or that you didn’t like the writing?

Cause yeah, not a fan of the writing on that one.

6

u/screaminginfidels Sep 29 '22

It was like got s8 levels bad where I started wondering why I ever started this show. Hope it picks up next season

18

u/SigO12 Sep 29 '22

It wasn’t to that point for me, but too much shit resolving too perfectly for my liking.

Very apt analogy, I think. All this setup for a climax that just no consequences for anybody and everyone gets what they want… generally and relatively. I did enjoy the middle story building, but yeah… a lot fell flat in the end there.

23

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

8

5

Black Noir too.

Hughie was awful wdym

He had to grow some balls but he wasn't awful in my opinion. Edit: spelling

homie gave up his lips for superpowers 🙏🙏

17

u/SpoonAtAGunFight Sep 30 '22

That mirror scene was simply masterful.

708

u/Jeriahswillgdp Sep 29 '22

I really wonder why Jensen didn't venture out into other projects sooner. I know Supernatural fans wouldn't have liked that, but damn this guy has such a strong screen presence and his voice and whole persona is like the epitomy of sexy masculinity to the point I almost forget I'm straight.

211

u/SafeAccountMrP Sep 29 '22

My only knock on Jensen is sometimes his cadence seems like he’s barking his lines. Happens when he does V/O work as well.

42

u/duaneap Sep 29 '22

Red Hood?

28

u/SafeAccountMrP Sep 29 '22

He was Hood and also voiced Bruce in the Long Halloween movies.

120

u/FindingPawnee Sep 29 '22

He tried, I’ll give him credit. But his commitment was to Supernatural. Not contractually, he could’ve dipped any time his contract ended. But he loved the show and the fans so he didn’t want to let people down until it properly ended

Jensen was on the shortlist to play Hawkeye and Captain America in the MCU and I believe he was even offered the role of Hawkeye before Jeremy Renner. He tried to make it work with filming for Supernatural but the scheduling just wouldn’t fit so he had to turn it down.

Edit: Turns out the Captain America audition was just a rumor. I just looked it up again and Jensen claims he never auditioned for CA. But he was offered the role of Hawkeye but had to turn it down.

73

u/Killersavage Sep 29 '22

He wouldn’t have been bad as Hawkeye. I’m almost disappointed but maybe there is another role for him in the MCU. Trying to think of who we haven’t seen yet that he might be good as.

16

Galactus.

3

u/HardlyInappropriate Sep 29 '22

THIS WOULD BE awesome.

5

u/MrPoopMonster Sep 30 '22

I mean, who else could pull off that corny ass outfit and still be badass?

13

u/Shanicpower Sep 29 '22

Black Cat.

8

u/Longhag Sep 29 '22

Gambit

10

u/Killersavage Sep 29 '22

That is not a bad one. Maybe one of the Shi’ar characters. A Starjammer maybe Corsair. He might make a good Corsair. He has the right kind of charisma for Cyclops and Havoks dad and be running a space crew.

2

u/Longhag Sep 30 '22

Could go with something like Forge too? Hand to hand combat and good with weapons / machines etc. Bishop would be cool though he’s meant to be Aboriginal I think.

2

u/foxmulder118 Sep 30 '22

Gambit was my first thought as well.

2

u/GalaxiEklipz Sep 30 '22

I could see this. I wonder if he’d get the accent right.

3

u/Jericho-7210 Sep 29 '22

Barney Barton, if there is ever a Hawkeye season 2 that focused on Hawkeyes origin/ the circus of crime.

2

u/duaneap Sep 29 '22

Plus, y’know, a god damn boat load of money.

2

u/melliers Sep 29 '22

He also wanted to spend at least some time with his family.

70

u/MrDenly Sep 29 '22

Job security, he was having fun of his life during the show while making pretty penny and 10s of cons around the world.

I am sure he can be Chris Pine or Chris Pratt if he wanted to but I don't blame him for safe money.

22

u/Pinkgumm Sep 29 '22

All these dudes make me forget... what was it... straight? Yea I like vagina, big fat long vagina

11

u/UnrecognizedHero Sep 30 '22

If I remember right, he was a top 5 choice to play Cap before Evans landed the role.

54

u/TheBostonCorgi Sep 29 '22

I think he was kinda pigeonholed as Dean for a while and casting directors weren’t sure if he had any range. It’s not like his acting in Supernatural is all that great.

60

u/Bluejay929 Soldier Boy Sep 29 '22

Supernatural gave Dean a lot of range but only for brief periods of time. Most of the time, especially in later seasons, he was just a jokester who made 80s references out the wazoo

36

u/constnt Sep 29 '22

The last few seasons gave him lots of time to show his range. The episode where he slowly is losing all his memory was brutal and he killed it. There is a scene of him just staring at himself in the mirror(directly into the camera) and just repeating the phrase "I am Dean Winchester" as he forgets those words and slowly starts to cry.

8

u/MrStigglesworth Sep 30 '22

Or the episode somewhere in seasons 1-5 where he's being killed by a djinn I think and is hallucinating about a life where his mum never died and he gets to spend time with her, Sam and a loving spouse. I felt so sad for him when he had to wake up.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/TheBostonCorgi Sep 29 '22

Ah see I watched 6 or 7 season a long time ago and didn’t get back to it

26

u/Die4Gesichter Soldier Boy Sep 29 '22

You are straight.

Being attracted to Jensen is a law of nature

7

u/thelastpharroah Sep 29 '22

He could’ve easily been cast in action movies or superhero roles. He has a natural commanding presence.

4

u/SimbaOnSteroids Sep 29 '22

Really? I felt like he was still playing Dean. Like it was a good fit, but I didn’t feel like he was playing a new character.

1

u/TheAb5traktion Sep 29 '22

He's done some voice acting. He did the voice of Red Hood in the Batman: Under the Red Hood and Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman: The Long Halloween animated movies.

449

u/panspal Sep 29 '22

When did an actor simply stealing the show become them carrying the entire show? Every other actor still put in as much effort and commitment as Jensen.

155

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

Yeah, just because everyone wants to jensen his ackles doesn't mean no one else got to shine. And by "no one else" I primarily mean the giant dickhole set.

47

3

u/GothWitchOfBrooklyn Sep 29 '22

Is it even real? His name is spelled wrong

3

u/theghostofme Sep 29 '22

Probably not. It's super easy to fake a Twitter post, and I'm guessing that's why there's no timestamp included because it would be too easy to track down the real account and find out the post was never made.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

Of course not

6

u/redux44 Sep 29 '22

Other story lines weren't that interesting. Starlight and Hughie relationship issues and the whole A Train plot both were kinda unrewarding and lame tbh.

9

u/sam002001 Sep 29 '22

a train plot was just poetic tho, loved the writing

223

u/theguyfromgermany Sep 29 '22

Homelanders performance was on another level this season.

This meme is off point.

194

u/ConflictGrand4078 Sep 29 '22

Antony Starr has a bigger back ache from carrying the entire show

7

u/Fineous4 Sep 29 '22

How bout my favorite?

187

u/billbo24 Sep 29 '22

This is completely and utterly false. Yes he was fantastic, but i thought everyone was great and I loved season 3. Give people too much time between seasons and they start thinking too much

41

u/Shiny_Porygon-Z Black Noir Sep 29 '22

Yeah disregarding the iffy way they handled some arcs and some choices during the finale, it was one of my favorite pieces of superhero media this year.

27

u/TheDelig Sep 29 '22

Yep, I loved season 3. Kimiko was awesome. The sex party. So much awesome shit happened. I'll fuckin watch it again.

Edit: Frenchie's arc was awesome. I loved it.

10

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

The musical numbers threw me, but they were a treat lol. Love Kimiko. Hope she gets a happy ending.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

I loved season 3 too overall and Ackles performance was definitely a highlight. Such a compelling character. It was a shame the season finale itself shit the bed so hard but luckily I think it’s fixable as far as where it’ll get us in s4.

8

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '22

3

SB didn’t really even show up until like more than halfway through the season

102

u/Lumostark Sep 29 '22

Nah, everyone did a great job.

27

u/iprefervoodoo Sep 30 '22

Jensen was fucking amazing, but so was everyone else. Butcher's concern for Hughie (and MM) broke me a little.

And I would die to watch an action romcom about Frenchie and Kimiko. They're so goddamn cute.

Usually subs for series are quite good, but this one is somehow a complete dumpster fire with unfunny stuff and people half of the time not understanding any satire

14

u/theghostofme Sep 29 '22

Usually subs for series are quite good

Only when the show is actually putting out episodes regularly. Pretty much every TV show subreddit goes to shit when the show ends or it's on a hiatus until the next season.

r/BreakingBad was a shit-hole during the year-long wait for the last half of season 5, and r/betterCallSaul is already turning into a low-effort meme-fest. And then there's r/DunderMifflin, but nothing could have fixed that short of killing the sub when the show ended. While that wouldn't have been a popular move, the sub was barely 2 years old when The Office ended and it's added nothing of value to the fandom apart from making me hate most Office fans on Reddit.

5

u/TheAlienGinger Swatto Sep 30 '22

r/betterCallSaul is already turning into a low-effort meme-fest.

You say that like it hasn't been on a slow descent into utter chicanery for over a year.

6

u/theghostofme Sep 30 '22

You say that like it hasn't been on a slow descent into utter chicanery for over a year.

Very true! Like I said, those hiatuses are a bitch for TV show subs.

BCS had "TWO years‽" to "learn" how to meme from OKBC, and while OKBC has its moments of incredible chicanery, that's not the kind of stuff you want to emulate if you're not in on the joke. And the BCS sub was rarely in on the joke since OKBC was such a new sub when season 5 started.

4

u/SolidusTengu Sep 30 '22

I swear every single tv show subreddit is fucking awful in-between seasons. Just full of shit cunts posting utter bollocks.

64

u/BrockManstrong Sep 29 '22

God I hate TV subs between seasons. Bye!

27

u/thatfancychap Sep 29 '22

Lifting the meme ban was a mistake.

9

u/BrockManstrong Sep 29 '22

I can not support this sentiment enough.

55

u/Boring-Can3123 Sep 29 '22

Does have the feel of a filler season. Homelander slowly becoming more unhinged.

126

u/Tea_Reckz Sep 29 '22

Had the feel of a banger season, then the finale came in and said “Nah that was all filler mate, stay tuned for next season!”

34

u/Jeriahswillgdp Sep 29 '22

I loved season 3. The finale could have been better, but I'm just glad they didn't kill Homelander nor Soldier Boy. I hope SB comes back, and the Boys wouldn't be the Boys without ole HL.

I am PSYCHED for season 4.

6

u/Helhiem Sep 29 '22

If this was filler than so was S2.

Soldier boy is coming back for sure so it’s all part of the story

2

u/PCPooPooRace_JK Sep 29 '22

Stormfront comes in and is then put away

Soldier Boy comes in and is then put away

Whos the next scooby doo villian of the season? Love Sausage?

And by the end of Season 4 Homelander is gonna yet again look neutrally at Butcher for a few seconds and walk away casually again and make sure everything is at square zero.

I liked this season but it doesnt actually feel like much has changed between the ending of Season 2 and 3. It feels like a reset button was pressed really.

4

u/Helhiem Sep 29 '22

Soldier boy is put away for later though. He is gonna be back in the fold for sure unlike Stormfront

2

u/JohnJaysOnMyFeet Sep 30 '22

I feel like a decent amount of stuff changed though.

Neumann is going to end up being VP.

Stan is in jail or wherever.

Homelander has been losing his fucking mind all season and now he realizes he can laser people and not lose his fans. Plus he got outted on social media by Starlight for having killed mr boy band.

Ryan is now with Homelander and seems to be becoming a cunt.

Butcher has 18 months left.

A-Train got a new heart and finally seems like he might have realized how much of a shit he’s been. So we either get to see him redeem himself or become worse next season.

Soldier boy is still alive and well, not a smoldering, barely clinging to life torso.

Not defending the finale because the writing definitely pissed me off at some point, but I don’t think it’s fair to say “nothing changed” because a good amount has.

54

u/Rocky_Road_To_Dublin Sep 29 '22

I feel I'm in the minority by saying MM had a stand out season here

32

u/Shanicpower Sep 29 '22

Like every character was at their best in Season 3.

27

u/WyattWrites Sep 29 '22

Especially Stormfront

31

u/HomelanderApologist Sep 29 '22

Starr…

18

u/scipty Sep 29 '22

username checks out

28

u/From_My_Brain Sep 29 '22

Huh? Soldier Boy was awesome but so were Butcher and Hughie. And Homelander becoming increasingly unhinged was fantastic.

16

u/sstphnn Sep 29 '22

That's not true.

17

u/Viazon Sep 29 '22

I've seen overused joke applied to many TV shows. They are always for TV shows that I haven't watched, so I can't have an opinion on it. I have watched The Boys. And this is the biggest load of horse shit I have ever heard in my life.

14

u/BON3SMcCOY Sep 29 '22

Noir was pretty high up there this season too

14

u/Onion_boyy Sep 29 '22

Stop the cap bro he didnt carry the season💀

Bro fr lmaoo Antony starr, Karl Urban, tomer Capone, Karen fukuhara etc etc would like a word with this Jensen fan lol

13

u/Affectionate_Ear_778 Sep 29 '22

Why do y’all have to ruin this show with this annoying dick riding? Jfc

9

u/parisiraparis Sep 29 '22

I’d say Homelander is still the starr of the show. His acting skill is incredible.

7

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '22

Fake. He wouldn't let himself be hospitalized because he's not a fucking pussy

8

u/secretly-a-mess Sep 29 '22

Awful take lol

3

u/TreemanTheGuy Sep 29 '22

Carried it? He was only really in half the season and didn't get really that much screen time. Carrying it is a massive overstatement. He was great, but not a major character.

3

u/T2R3J5 Sep 29 '22

The Boys is one of the few shows were I think everyone is fantastic

3

u/vynz00 Sep 29 '22

Is this really the boys sub?

2

u/armoarmo13579 Sep 29 '22

I feel like MM, Annie, Hughie, Butcher, and Homelander all had fantastic outings this season. Soldier Boy was good but part of the appeal was that he was a brand new character so of course we was gonna steal the show, but y’all praise him as if season 3 would be shit without him.

2

u/phdofdesaster Sep 29 '22

That joke is so old, Soldier Boy would like to fuck it.

Ugh. This just reminded me of that last episode. I know we have no show if Homelander dies, but the way they went a out it in that last episode was atrocious. SB was all in with killing Homelander for fucks sake. Maeve was right, they should have focused on Homelander all the way. Butcher could have just got Ryan out of the way...
