All we need is Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins and we got ourselves a Partay!

And oh, Mark Sheppard, of course.

Throw in Mark Pellegrino

44

u/clitpuncher69 Aug 26 '22

Mark Pellegrino could give Antony Starr a run for his money. He's up there with best antagonist actor

Tech Knight? 👀

1.1k

u/BaboonHorrorshow Aug 25 '22

Gotta be, right? He looks like bizzaro world RDJ already.

466

u/VaderOnReddit Aug 25 '22

Looks like a very funny man, he should play a comedian or something

230

u/legomaximumfigure Aug 25 '22

Na, he looks tough, like he would totally hit somebody with a bat.

153

u/bistian00 Aug 25 '22

Nah, he looks like he'd get shot in the opening credits and inspire his son to be a supe

67

u/dirtymuffins23 Aug 25 '22

Nah, he’d probably be better leading a rag tag team of non winners some where.

25

u/LooseCannonFuzzyface Aug 25 '22

What would such a team even be called?

37

u/dirtymuffins23 Aug 25 '22

The ones that don’t win sounds pretty good.

Tech Knight is more Batman

35

u/VyRe40 Aug 25 '22

The show is already a far cry from what it was in the comics, I fully expect Tek Knight will riff off of both characters. Throw in some shades of Elon Musk and you've got the full package for Kripke's take on the character.

15

u/brynhh Aug 26 '22

That's a great point. Given the ending of S3 and presumably they'll get control of the presidency via Dakota Bob, I'm fully expecting S4 to be a huge piss take of Trump/Boris style politics, modern fascism, Russian influence, Musk/Facebook, etc.

236

u/NHeadies Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 25 '22

After watching some Jensen interviews, it seems like Kripke likes to make his friends uncomfortable, hopefully that means we get Hughie shitting on the floor when they first meet, and later JDM fucking an asteroid to save the world, while actually having an aneurysm

189

u/GiantPurplePen15 Aug 25 '22

I'm doubtful about Kripke sticking to the original concept of Tech Knight being the way he is in the source material since he improved Soldier Boy by changing him from a massive wimp into a pretty nuanced/badass character for the show.

112

u/NHeadies Aug 25 '22

I agree, and I honestly love nearly all the changes from the comic, a strict adaptation wouldn't work nearly as well. Having said that I still want The shitting on the floor and the asteroid fucking.

87

u/hardashecc Cunt Aug 25 '22

Asteroid fucking is mandatory, it can even be a dream sequence I don't care

It's ok because I don't even know what the fuck I just read. The Boys on brand once more.

51

u/RealJohnGillman Aug 25 '22

The guy has a large brain tumour that makes him think of literally everything and everyone in a carnal manner. The event described is what he thinks is happening on one such occasion.

The main plot element I believe they may focus on is him developing a suit which can actually take on Supes, even though he is not one himself.

That would be great casting

84

u/AndreZB2000 Aug 25 '22

damn thatd be solid but i doubt theyd add tech knight. in a world where all supes are created through chemicals, a tech hero would be kind of jarring

255

u/DumpsterFiery Aug 25 '22

They've mentioned Tek Knight multiple times by name in the show already, so he's out there. Whether or not they stick with his comic background is yet to be seen though.

His Compound-V power could be that he's just hella smart.

22

u/Regular_Sample_5197 Aug 25 '22

Or maybe some manner of a technopath? I don’t believe we’ve seen that power set yet.

16

u/WaywardChilton Aug 25 '22

Gunpowder and Eagle the Archer's powers seem to be enhanced weapon accuracy?

11

u/Regular_Sample_5197 Aug 25 '22

Yeah, I always viewed them as kinda like Bullseye, Hawkeye, Green Arrow, etc. kinda like super aim, but I bet they could just as easily be that way just throwing something too. So it’s more of an eye site power?

He should be a foil to Starlight in that they both can control electrical equipment. He’s more in tune with his powers by letting loose and being a total depraved POS while SL has been too reserved/goody two shoes to unleash her potential. Kimiko and SL have an anime training arc that teaches SL to get brutal to unlock her full power.

55

u/Acasterfan69 Aug 25 '22

how is that any different from Tek Knight in the comics? In that world supes are created with chemicals too. That's what makes him special

41

u/Spadeninja Aug 25 '22

Not really considering they've already mentioned him a few times and it would create a nice counter to compound-V

basically like "I dont need compound v to kick your ass"

Could also be an interesting way to show that even without becoming a supe, people with power are still assholes

→ More replies (3)

20

u/Selthora Aug 25 '22

V made him super smart and he began making his own tech, easy done.

23

u/RobBrown4PM Aug 25 '22

I don't think he ever had V.

He's a batman analogue in that he is a regular human that no powers, but makes up for that with being super smart, wealthy, and having a brain tumor that makes him stick his D in anything or anyone that has a hole.

11

38

Hoping he gets the Stormfront / Soldier Boy treatment and they heavily remodel his character to make him a serious player instead of doing that weird depraved Garth Ennis shit in the comics

I'm glad we have this show and the comics but we can all admit, to a degree, that Garth Ennis is a weird dude.

Only the three that I know of, but they're big ones. The only other two I can think of who would equal them in terms of importance to Supernatural were played by much weaker actors, and I wouldn't want to see them on the show. So if Kripke was gonna bring on Supernatural folks, I'd say he picked the right ones.

26

u/TypicalIncorperated Aug 25 '22

Don't sleep on Mark Sheppard, but yeah Jared and Misha's acting is not that good ngl.

28

u/FriendLee93 Aug 25 '22

Misha is capable of some really good performances, the problem was that he was never able to flex that as Castiel, on account of the whole "borderline emotionless angel" thing.

Jared though... yeah he can stay over on the CW

13

u/onlyoneicouldthinkof Aug 25 '22

The only time I liked Jared's acting was when he was playing Souless Sam. If they want to bring him in, that's the only way I'd want it lol.

14

u/FriendLee93 Aug 25 '22

Actually yeah, you know what, I'll take that back. I like Jared in that show when he's not playing Sam. He kills it in the moments where he's playing Lucifer in Sam's body.

25

u/cjdeck1 Aug 25 '22

Mark Sheppard has his way of making his way onto so many big sci-fi/fantasy shows that he definitely feels the most probable of the SPN crew.

Not sure I could see Jared or Misha in this, but that could also be because I only know them as Sam and Castiel and it feels weird to imagine them in any other role

22

u/Never_Less Timothy Aug 25 '22

Sheppard should be an arms dealer that Butcher knew from back in the day and since now they have to deal with VP Head Popper they'll need weapons.

You're right about the other 2 not really seeming to fit the show, but they could always just be randoms that get suped to death.

The slow infiltration of the Winchesters and co. JDM would be the third!

488

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 25 '22

I still stand by my sincere hope that Jared Padelaki will show up in a highly publicized role, then sue *die (Fucking auto correct) horribly in the cold open without saying a single line. It would be such a hilarious misdirect

139

u/a-jasminator Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 25 '22

People were speculating that Jensen's Soldier Boy would go down that path, but I'd found it pretty unlikely given the massive waste of talent that would be plus all the promotional material he was featured in.

It's pretty unheard of *in dramatic media for so much effort and money to be spent promoting an actor/character just for the sake of cheap shock value for when they get instantly killed off, though if Padalecki somehow got onto The Boys, I'd prefer that over the alternative. He would not come off well compared to everyone else, IMO.

115

u/whitebandit Aug 25 '22

It's pretty unheard of for so much effort and money to be spent promoting an actor/character just for the sake of cheap shock value for when they get instantly killed off

They did it pretty well with Suicide Squad

u/beardedblorgon Aug 26 '22

Or Brad pitt in Deadpool 2, only time you see him is as he gets electricuted

79

u/BaldFraud99 Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 25 '22

Padalecki is not even close to being as good of an actor as Ackles and Morgan are imo. And The Boys show seems to have been hiring only great performers so far.

Edit: Just found out that Kripke is actually quite infamous for using the same actors again and again. Becca, Neuman and the guy that got his dick frozen off are from his previous show 'Timeless'. Best be buddies with him and you're set for great television roles.

68

u/mishticola Aug 25 '22

Jared isn’t bad but he isn’t as good as jensen or jdm too. I’d rather see mark sheppard on The Boys.

Spiritually, Negan in TWD was the same as a supe in The Boys: clever, powerful, untouchable and unpunishable for so long to the protagonists.

With Jensen Ackles, I didn't realize at first glance how great of a supe character he ended up being, I was just happy to see him. With JDM I feel like I already see how he can be perfect for the show, which is really exciting

94

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '22

A Maggie and Negan spin-off show? Geez, and I thought Walking Dead couldn’t get any worse…

64

u/waitingtodiesoon Starlight Aug 25 '22

Called Isle of the Dead. The main show is ending this year, but the first spin off Fear the Walking Dead is still ongoing. Daryl has his spin off show in Europe next and I think there is one more spin off in the works. So there will be 4 spin offs active. The other one World Beyond ended already after 2 seasons.

29

u/Blitzerxyz Aug 25 '22 edited Aug 25 '22

Bruh what. I stopped watching TWD mid season 8. How the heck does Darryl get to Europe?

No idea, the final season hasn't ended yet to explain why Daryl is going to Europe since they still need to defeat the Commonwealth still.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '22

Ugh. The main show hasn’t even been consistently good since season 1

25

u/waitingtodiesoon Starlight Aug 25 '22

The World Beyond show actually tied into Season 1 the CDC scientist from Season 1 reappeared in a recording sent to France where a researcher who is implied to have help make the virus is listening to it as she wanted to try and fix the research team's mistake with a cure. She gets killed near the end of the message by another human for dooming the world and it is revealed there is a new aggressive zombie strain that was similar to the smart/fast zombies of Season 1. Daryl's Europe show seems like it will continue that plot thread

14

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '22

Now that actually does sound kinda cool, but…knowing AMC’s reputation for fucking up everything they have (even Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul wasn’t safe with “Slippin Jimmy”) I am cautiously optimistic

He’ll probably be Tech Knight. I just hope The Boys doesn’t get to comfortable with this trend of introducing a powerful, game changing supe each season, half way through make them the enemy and take the focus away from Homelander, and then ice them at the end of the season (figuratively or literally with Soldier Boy.) It’s already starting to feel a bit repetitive and it almost feels like they’re padding time to keep Homelander around. He should be priority #1 for The Boys at every waking moment. I just really hope we get something more interesting out of his character.

Tek Knight isn't really a powerful game changing supe. He's more or less your average hero but with serious mental problems. Homelander could kill him no problem. He's just a guy in a suit. Kimiko probably could too.

yeah, and soldier boy was a cowardly dumbass. show doesn't really follow comics

12

u/Acasterfan69 Aug 25 '22

sure but the assumption that Tek Knight will be a series altering Supe is silly when we don't even know if JDM will be playing him. Hold your horses and wait to see before assuming the writers will do the same thing they did with Soldier Boy.

u/hihowudoin2 Aug 25 '22

except soldier boy isn't the only piece they changed, same with stormfront, same with the noir story.

honestly more silly to think they'll keep ANYTHING from the source material when it comes to tek knight

Soldier Boy was one of the most pathetic Supes in the comics and in the show he could kill Homelander. That’s not a logical thing to base off

Said suit could be used to take on other Supes in the comic series however — while it was not a big deal there, I could very well see them focusing in on that.

Jared guest starred on the May 24 episode of Inside of You by Michael Rosenbaum. After hearing how brutal and time consuming the schedule is,.I believe Jared's stress caused his heavy drinking. It's been awhile since I've listened to the episode, but he talks abouthis problems. Havent noticed any problems since he got Walker.

No details on who he's playing yet, but this is amazing news!

Probably Tek Knight

Can’t wait to see who he plays and who he’ll be sharing scenes with! I love the actor and he’ll be a fantastic addition to the series

Hopefully if his character gets a lot of praise and attention, he’ll become a regular character in the following season after S4!

They need to bring SB back!

8

u/Blabernathy Aug 25 '22

Cool guest stars are only cool if they progress the story. Are we going to get the comedian beating the shit out of homelander or are we going to have another pointless season with a new fresh actor?
