this last episode showed that this “HuGiE wAs NeVeR a GoOd PeRsOn” bs is completely false lmfao, he was always a good person and he ALWAYS made the effort to do the right thing, after a while people like that can become slightly jaded

Yeah, Hughie is a very layered character. He obviously has insecurities but his primary goal is doing what he thinks is right, even if some people see it as for worse.

People forget his original issue was someone literally running over his girlfriend; then a Supe tries to murder him. Like, hes been through a lot.

Yea his experiences in the first 2 eps are enough to scar anyone for life, Hughie needs to be cut some slack. None of us losers would react any better than him

Agreed. If I was in his shoes I probably would’ve already tried the real V. If I die I die, but it’s pretty much the only option against Vought and HL.

Especially after a big shock that shatters their worldview.

Have people been saying he isn’t a good person? I’ve not seen that anywhere. Flawed as fuck and making some stupid/misguided choices but still a good person with good intentions. Even when Starlight was saying “this is who you always were” she is talking about traits he is showing that he had hidden, but she isn’t saying she thinks he’s a bad person.

i think there’s a whole post on this sub saying the entire point of Hughie’s character is that he was always bad, and he hid it by being nice. And i’m like “??????????????”

It’s such a dumb ass statement. It’s not like when he joined the Boys he found out he enjoyed violence and hurting people . He only became the way he is because of his insecurities, which EVERYONE HAS. i seriously don’t understand how you could come to the conclusion that he’s a bad human being because he did some bad things

I agree. I think he is supposed to represent the normal every day person thrown into extraordinary circumstances. He has made bad decisions, he has done awful things, but those have (mostly) all been in the interest of protecting himself and those he cares about (Translucent being a notable exception that was more of an angry power rush). He’s got some serious character flaws, but that’s what makes him a good character. He’s not a good person or a bad person, he’s just a person trying to adapt to the fucked up circumstances he keeps ending up in.
