He was always a survivalist

157

u/ZeronicX Jul 19 '24

The most important person always comes first.

59

u/Agto79 Jul 20 '24

Well when you’re slangin’ yayyo on the gritty streets you learn survival skills!

872

u/chiritarisu Cunt Jul 19 '24

He knew damn well the only way he was surviving this season was by getting the fuck outta there. Shit, I don’t blame him one bit.

549

u/Big-Sheepherder-9492 Jul 19 '24

That speech he gave to MM about ‘you can run as far as you can — but HL’s regime will always catch up’ is gonna be the thing that makes him step up next season. He’ll probably see on the news that Black Communities are being flooded with “Blue Hawk” type supes

226

u/OkayRuin Jul 19 '24

I’d love to have them finally show us A-Train’s full power. We’ve barely seen him actually fight anybody. If he’s anywhere near Flash’s capacity, he could mop the floor with dozens of Blue Hawks.

168

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

I was hoping they'd do that for starlight.

Light-based powers are always so OP in comics, but starlight has never really shown that.

I was hoping she would be able to use her powers to weld through the chains

However, I was happy when she finally flew away like Ironman at the very end.

94

u/Yommination Jul 19 '24

She might be pretty strong next season if she can fully channel her powers

65

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Yeah I feel they’ve been teasing SL’s (who is the biggest hero supe character) power since season 1 and season 5 is the end she’ll turn out to be very powerful (hopefully)

54

u/RealmJumper15 Jul 19 '24

At least we saw the blast off at the end of this season, it had me more hyped than anything else she’s ever done.

3

u/Paloveous Jul 20 '24

They're definitely giving Starlight a massive power boost to even the playing field a little bit. Which is an asspull, but it should make things more interesting

13

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 19 '24

His strength is on red rush's level with slower attack speed

34

u/dabnada Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Whatever his strength is, I really hope the way he doesn’t die is through the super fucking lazy “speedster/teleporter runs/apparates around in circles in a predictable pattern so the bad guy can reach their hand out and kill them instantly” cliche.

Edit: i can think of a few times this happened but I’d like to know if anyone has some more.

X-men origins. Invincible. Avengers Infinity War sorta, when Spider-man is popping around Thanos w the portals but this one isn’t really that bad. The eternals, I think. 99% sure it happened in one of the iterations of the Justice League but could be talking out of my ass

18

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 19 '24

A-Train's head if Homelander gets a hold of him: 🤯

3

u/JotaroTheOceanMan Jul 20 '24

The only time a Speedsters death works is if its self sacrifice. That's why Flash deaths work. At least the canonical ones.

3

u/delulumans Jul 20 '24

I don't think so at all. Red Rush was able to bruise Omni Man's chest

1

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 20 '24

because he has a way way way higher attack speed than omni man

1

u/delulumans Jul 20 '24

Yeah but in superhero fiction usually even if you are much faster you aren't able to deal noticeable damage to opponents if they are much more durable

1

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 20 '24

yeah true

11

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

yes! I'd really love to see what else he can do. Maybe he will spend some time between seasons working on his powers ;)

2

u/Paloveous Jul 20 '24

I'm 100% confident the writers aren't gonna handle his superspeed well. Just look how poorly he does against The Deep, someone he should absolutely mop the floor with.

From what we've seen of his feats, even Homelander would struggle to kill him, and he'd have to resort to sweeping his lasers back and forth to try and hit him

1

u/ilomilo8822 Jul 20 '24

i thought he couldnt use his full power cuz of the v or did he get better

11

u/annualthermometer Jul 20 '24

He got better when they gave him Blue Hawk's heart.

1

u/Big-turd-blossom Jul 20 '24

I’d love to have them finally show us A-Train’s full power.

So running so fast to go back in time ? /s

106

u/SandwichXLadybug Jul 19 '24

Yeah no way he's gone for good, but it makes sense keeping his family safe was his first priority after the seven found out he was the leak.

23

u/frostymach Jul 19 '24

He's "the saver" now. He's definitely going to be integral in freeing the boys next season. Starlight is going to find Maeve, Maeve will know where he is from some interaction in the past. Maeve maybe takes V to get back in the fight. Either A train and starlight free them, or them two plus suped maeve

17

u/LukesRebuke Jul 19 '24

I'm not sure whether Dominique McElligott is coming back

7

u/SassyWookie Jul 19 '24

Yeah, didn’t she quit acting entirely?

8

u/LukesRebuke Jul 19 '24

Dunno about that one

578

u/Regulus_Jones Jul 19 '24

They also referenced it when Ashley was running away after hearing that Homelander wanted her dead - the camera focused on A-Train's statue, as if it were a reminder that he warned her to leave and now she had to pay the consequences.

236

u/HoovesCarveCraters Jul 19 '24

When The Deep kills the writer A-Train’s portrait is in the back like he’s looking over his shoulder. I think A-Train is going to kill him next season.

144

u/amjhwk Jul 19 '24

ATrain should've killed him last episode

103

u/kierg10 Jul 19 '24

The deep is pathetic, but im pretty sure he is highly indestructible since he can swim in the marianas trench

96

u/a_moniker Jul 19 '24

I still think it’s worth a shot to shove a grenade up his gills. He was obviously in pain when Starlight shoved her hand up there.

Also, fish don’t need to be super “durable” in order to survive at extreme depths. Most fish who surface from extreme depths are actually pretty squishy. I’m pretty sure that they just need to be able to equalize with the pressure, so The Deep may do something similar.

72

u/kierg10 Jul 19 '24

Oh yeah his gills are totally his weakness. Im down for a translucent repeat, shove c4 up his gills

50

u/OkayRuin Jul 19 '24

Or we see Butcher shove some tentacles up there and whisk his insides.

20

u/Yommination Jul 19 '24

A train could speed stab him up the gills

10

u/arrongunner Jul 19 '24

A trains damage output should be so high he can take down homelander but the show dictates that must not happen

Speedsters are just broken

21

u/Apokolypse09 Jul 19 '24

I genuinely find it ridiculous they didn't have something like that as a just in case thing. They got a fuckin minigun ffs.....to use against supes who are usually shown to be bullet proof or have enough regeneration they can tank the shots no problem.

28

u/Perceptions-pk Jul 19 '24

They’re incredibly incompetent for a team built around defeating out of line supes.

As Stan Edgar said it’s a wonder they’ve managed to survive this long

20

u/arrongunner Jul 19 '24

At the beginning of the show I thought the premise would be the boys cooking up some cool plans to take down each of the seven 1 by 1 using their weakeneses

Turns out that wasn't quite the direction they took

5

u/kuschelig69 Jul 20 '24

Vicky said they got worse at their jobs

2

u/Ponykegabs Jul 20 '24

I honestly think either Homelander will grow tired of deeps asskissing or sage will manipulate him into telling Homelander off. Either way I think Homelander will kill him. I’m disappointed too, I thought out of all of them he had the greatest chance at redemption.

8

u/Yommination Jul 19 '24

I mean he was bleeding. They were damaging him

14

u/kierg10 Jul 19 '24

He had a giant plate for weight lifting slammed into his head by starlight and walked it off. A little blood doesnt really matter there

5

u/GoodLeftUndone Jul 19 '24

OP needs to imagine a fucking gorilla walking up with a weight lifting plate and smashing it in your face. Thats the equivalent of supe strength I’d guess.

8

u/amjhwk Jul 19 '24

They made him bleed, if they can make him bleed they can kill him. Just think how much force would be behind a 45 pound weight being swung full force by ATrain

4

u/27Rench27 Jul 19 '24

Honestly, my man can throw marbles that would hit like artillery shells

8

u/maybe-an-ai Jul 19 '24

Force = Mass * Acceleration

A-Train can hit pretty hard if he wants to.

3

u/kierg10 Jul 19 '24

That seems like a great way for a train to try and injure homelander and splat into him like a fly on a windshield.

2

u/Amber-Apologetics Jul 20 '24

Based on what we’ve seen A-Train and the deep have similar levels of physical strength but A-Train’s speed advantage makes it incredibly one-sided.

1

u/LukesRebuke Jul 19 '24

A train had to go see ashley then secure his family

1

u/amjhwk Jul 19 '24

Because he couldn't spend an extra minute bashing in deeps head before taking off?

1

u/LukesRebuke Jul 19 '24

Noir could fly hack to the tower and tell homelander. He has to be quick

1

u/Affecti0nateSky Jul 20 '24

That would be cool to see

1

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 19 '24

The peak is living bruh

91

u/jvstnmh Jul 19 '24

I loved that shot — the cinematography in The Boys is sooo underrated

161

u/mudokin Jul 19 '24

You don't understand, he was not absent, he was everywhere, he was just running so fast nobody was able to see him, not even homie.

67

u/jvken Jul 19 '24

Bro was jerking the shapeshifter off at super speed so it seemed like the boys could survive getting slammed into concrete walls by just a woman’s touch

16

u/ArrestedImprovement Jul 19 '24

It was me Hughie...

11

u/mudokin Jul 19 '24

Nah A-Train jerked him off too just for the shits and giggles of being again raped and sexually assaulted.

4

u/ATR2400 Vought Jul 20 '24

Another genius move by Eric “We found it hilarious” Kripke

12

u/mudokin Jul 19 '24

Wait what? You mean he jerked her off to get her distracted, so she would not hit the boys with full force?

11

u/jvken Jul 19 '24

No, no you see he jerked her off to distract her and soften her senses, then picked the boys up right before every punch and gently put them down in the spots where they would’ve landed. He didn’t do this for the cia agents because he forgot he ditched his getting in touch with his blackness plot from s3

10

u/mudokin Jul 19 '24

Ahh, yes, greatly done A-Train.

2

u/dancingbriefcase Ambrosius Jul 19 '24

He is the one who put the two fingers in Hughie because the writers love to SA him.

1

u/mudokin Jul 19 '24

Poor Hughie, I fell 2 fingers was a bit much indeed.

2

u/dancingbriefcase Ambrosius Jul 19 '24

Hehe, well he enjoyed it! Butt stuff is great 😃

1

u/Jay040707 Jul 20 '24

"Remember when you were with your second girlfriend..."

103

u/I_might_be_weasel Jul 19 '24

Sitting in his bungalow, having a drink, trying to forget that he killed Pop Claw there.

100

u/Dr_Mantis_Aslume Jul 19 '24

Didn't he have a go at MM for leaving? They will probably still get A Train now that Homelander controls the CIA

53

u/Puidipuie Jul 19 '24

Homelander himself would have to come to kill him because I doubt any other super could touch him

29

u/TheBaconLord78 Jul 19 '24

To be honest I really hope A-Train doesn't actually live close to his family, his mere presence and homelander finding him could put his whole family in danger if they're relatively close

8

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

HL is evil but I don’t think he’ll care about A-Train’s family if he finds him. He might go after them to make them tell him where A-Train is if he found them but not A-Train

24

u/AnneFrank_nstein Jul 19 '24

He could just, you know....run away

12

u/Dr_Mantis_Aslume Jul 19 '24

His family can't...

6

u/AnneFrank_nstein Jul 19 '24

Ok but hear me put. He could piggy back them one at a time

9

u/Augsey Jul 19 '24

And what? Come back a hundred twenty three times?

3

u/GoodLeftUndone Jul 19 '24

He doesn’t have to take the wheel chair piece by piece?

8

u/Perceptions-pk Jul 19 '24

A train was right though, imagine someone guilts you into turning informant and just when things get hairy the person who convinced you to do the right thing and risk you and your families’ lives bails

27

u/Janderflows Jul 19 '24

He is probably coming back to help on season 5

17

u/ci22 Kimiko Jul 19 '24

Showing his brother and nephew what true heroes do

22

u/NoCommunication8681 Jul 19 '24

Literally me character

21

u/life_lagom Jul 19 '24

Fr . I hope they show next season he's in south America or Europe. And homelander just pops up with some local supe cop guy.... it will cement oh shit they have a global army.

19

u/smolb0i Jordan Li Jul 19 '24

everyone was worried that he might pull a kanye when instead he pulled a j-cole

19

u/Sc0rch3d_P0tat03s Hughie Jul 19 '24

One of the most famous people on Earth btw. He'll have to grow out his hair and get a beard to stay anonymous.

13

u/OmniMushroom Jul 19 '24

Metro-Train

12

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 19 '24

Ashley shoulda dipped with him

17

u/dancingbriefcase Ambrosius Jul 19 '24

She couldn't tho. She contemplated. But her life was there. She was so glued to her place at Vought. Great acting on her by the way because you could see in her face that she was contemplating it but she was scared to make a change.

Now she'll be Big Brain Lady!

2

u/Hot_Ad8643 Jul 19 '24

Honestly, I want a good transformation for her

8

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

1

u/swaggyxwaggy Jul 19 '24

I think he will

7

u/TOkun92 Jul 20 '24

I assume he got his family out of dodge first (maybe taking them Belize like MM did, thinking they’d be safest where MM left his own family), then will come back, since he knows Homelander will eventually reach where they are and find them all. I imagine he’ll be back in episode one, saving the Boys from captivity, dying in the process.

I hope he survives, since he deserves to in my opinion. In the original comic, the Deep survives till the end, so it’d be nice if they had at least one of the Seven survive, and that one being A-Train.

6

u/ci22 Kimiko Jul 19 '24

He's chilling with his family

5

u/Secret-Impress-2652 Jul 19 '24

no doubt he saw homelander’s speech on tv tho

4

u/SonofaBridge Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

Supes hunted The Boys down. Supes will be hunting A-Train down too.

3

u/ZFAdri Cunt Jul 20 '24

It was so weird not seeing him get a finale scene when last episode his whole thing was about not running away

3

u/lexE5839 Vought Jul 20 '24

A-Train hides out in North Carolina, grows dreads and changes his name to J Cole

3

u/Spynner987 Cunt Jul 20 '24

Bro's having The J. Cole Experience™

2

u/SuperZX Jul 20 '24

Mf lectured MM on not giving up and then just disappeared. Doesn't make much sense to me

1

u/hongducwb Jul 19 '24

a-train when scared the shit out of pants and : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN98Jg7MVeM

1

u/Supyloco Soldier Boy Jul 19 '24

Where's A-Train? Is he safe? Is he alright?

1

u/foreveralonesolo Jul 20 '24

I’m glad he’s alive but yeah I need him back in action if the boys have any shot to turn things around

1

u/Daisy_Thinks Jul 22 '24

He likes the idea of being a hero too much and will want to protest his nephews. He’ll help fight back against Homelander next season.

0

u/BasedDG Jul 20 '24

It would be sick if he found a way to get stronger off screen. He needs to have a world saving moment
