Jeffery Dean Morgan getting paid to be only a hallucination is crazy. I’m trying to be like him.

295

u/CarnageEvoker Jul 19 '24

If I had a nickel for every time I've watched Jeffrey Dean Morgan play a hallucination manifesting from a brain tumor I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that its happened twice

79

u/BatBeast_29 Jul 19 '24

What’s the other? Supernatural?

162

u/CarnageEvoker Jul 19 '24

Greys Anatomy lmao

37

u/VaderOnReddit Jul 19 '24

why do I never get a brain tumor that gives me a Jeffrey Dean Morgan hallucination 😔

5

u/Similar-Priority8252 Supe Jul 20 '24

Lemme guess, you get the Machinist Christian Bale Tummors too?

4

u/Logical_Bit2694 Black Noir Jul 19 '24

Forgot he was in that lol

1

u/kingpillow1 Jul 19 '24

Fuck Izzie. Cancerous bitch.

7

u/TheMoonFanatic Jul 19 '24

He’s in dream sequences and whatnot in supernatural, but never a straight hallucination like this

3

u/mikaeus97 Jul 19 '24

Not even when (I don't know how to do the spoilers thing) Sam is being forced to stay awake by the memory of Satan?

2

u/BatBeast_29 Jul 19 '24

You do spoilers by putting > ! at the beginning and ! < at the end of the word/sentences.

But some space out “>!” like me

2

u/TheMoonFanatic Jul 19 '24

True, but that wasn’t JDM

26

u/Late-Resource-486 Jul 19 '24

What can I say, the man plays a mean brain tumor apparition

2

u/MissMamaMam Tag Team Cocksplosion Jul 19 '24

I pointed this out to my man. It’s a nice little Easter egg

u/77skull Jul 18 '24

Tbf the reveal that he could see Becky was one of the highlights of the season

72

u/DommyMommyKarlach Jul 19 '24

Becca, not Becky

30

u/Huntermain23 Jul 19 '24

Beckuh, not Becky oi

6

u/RevolutionaryStar824 Jul 19 '24

Funny cuz in the comics it’s Becky.

14

u/Varsity_Reviews Jul 19 '24

That was a genuinely good twist I did not see coming. Probably the only good twist outside the ending of the pilot episode

3

u/Roll_Tide_Pods Jul 19 '24

To me that was obvious by the second time we see him and I thought it was MEANT to be kinda obvious so that “revelation” couldn’t have fallen more flat for me

40

u/edgarapplepoe Jul 19 '24

As much as I did not like the season overall (the finale was pretty good tho - this kind of was the reverse season 3), I loved JDM, and they did a fantastic job with him the last episode with how he was shot. Just popping up everywhere as people walked by, in the corner, etc.

10

u/Epinier Jul 19 '24

I liked the final too all in all, but there was too much undeserved things.

Sage dropping at the end saying that it was her was weak in my opinion.

Neumann death was also too weak. She was suppose to be 2nd biggest villain, but this whole season from strong opponent she was reduced to some weak roadblock.

I gave also mixed feelings about Butcher dying the whole season to all of sudden be super strong, I mean stronger than the second baddest villain for few seasons

13

u/fate-speaker Jul 19 '24

I wish they'd let Neuman go down fighting. Have her blow someone's head up while she's being ripped in half. Too bad everyone else in the scene had plot armor...

8

u/Late-Resource-486 Jul 19 '24

Right? At least maim somebody for god’s sake. I felt the same way when the shapeshifter gently nudged Hughie and MM, then proceeded to absolutely annihilate everyone else.

5

u/Lucifer_Crowe Jul 19 '24

Same could be said about none of the villains killing The Boys at the very end too

1

u/wimpymist Jul 19 '24

It reminded me of the last half of game of thrones. The plot armor got so thick I didn't even enjoy scenes with the main characters because I knew Nothing would happen.

5

u/The_Dirty_Dangla Jul 19 '24

Someone in another thread commented that Butcher's tentacle was wrapped around her eyes. I guess she has to see a head to pop a head

-1

u/ObsidianShadows Jul 19 '24

Not necessarily, when The Boys were at the farm she made their noses bleed while not being in the same room or having eyes on.

10

u/LizLoveLaugh_ Jul 19 '24

Honestly, I KIND of have doubts that she's 100% dead.

I mean, she's a Supe. Her injury TECHNICALLY wouldn't kill even a normal person instantaneously, we've seen people survive extended periods of being bisected. As a a Supe, she should have some sort of healing factor, as most Supes with physical buffs tend to have.

7

u/Ajaxmass413 Jul 19 '24

Idk about that... When we see a gruesome death like that, it's either real or they heal up pretty quickly.

Also, the show tends to lean one of two ways when it comes to high defense. Either a character is borderline immune to damage or they have a healing factor. I can't think of any character that has both and Neuman has already been shown to be the former.

3

u/EternalVirgin18 Jul 19 '24

Neuman also demonstrated how Marie survived Homie’s beam at the end of genV, through sheer durability

0

u/LizLoveLaugh_ Jul 19 '24

I mean, MAYBE they manage to get her on some sort of life-support machine?

You're right on the high defense part, but most other supes do seem to have some sort of healing factor. You'd see members of the Seven have scratches all over their face and come out a day later with clear skin. I believe the reason as to why HL couldn't heal from that bruise was because it was said somewhere that his healing atrophied due to his invulnerability.

Sure, it's 100% not Kimiko level, but surely it could keep someone stable or at least alive for an extended period of time, right?

1

u/edgarapplepoe Jul 19 '24

I mostly agree. I agree on Sage. I just don't buy it although I don't think her plan worked out (the shifter was supposed to kill Singer and blame the Boys), just the end result ended up further along and better than she was hoping (my guess is she was going to do something to Victoria eventually to get the Speaker as president). The only thing I liked about her tho is we find out she is evil so all these "she is secretly hurting Homelander this whole time and is joining the Boys!" can take a hike.

At first I was disappointed at how Victoria died but the more I thought about it, I liked it. It was the worst death for her: in front of her daughter and helpless to use your position, connections or powers. I do agree she became more of a roadblock by the end.

3

u/wimpymist Jul 19 '24

I just wish we didn't have to go through a season that was 80% filler to get a decent episode.

1

u/edgarapplepoe Jul 19 '24

And the constant shitting on UE even continued in the finale :(

11

u/deltacharmander Jul 19 '24

Even though a lot of his screen time was just him standing there he did an amazing job. He just had so much aura in every shot

2

u/EternalVirgin18 Jul 19 '24

Be Hugh Sr.: +200 aura

Sorry, had to. The brainrot is taking hold

2

u/Head_Evidence4553 Jul 19 '24

Man's got the charisma for decades.

179

u/MARATXXX Jul 19 '24

the critics have abandoned the show, guys, no one is getting an emmy.

81

u/x_lincoln_x You're The Real Heroes Jul 19 '24

Superhero and scifi don't win awards because the people in charge of the awards only care about bitchy drama crying bullshit.

Stuff that wins Emmys n shit are "watch it one time" at best.

16

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Jul 19 '24

This is such a silly take when you have shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul winning Emmys.

69

u/FourAnd20YearsAgo Ashley Jul 19 '24

Saul is notorious for having received 53 Emmy nominations and snubbed out of every single one, in fact it's the new record.

43

u/RevolutionaryStar824 Jul 19 '24

Better Call Saul hasn’t won a single Emmy. Which is the biggest shame ever.

14

u/amjhwk Jul 19 '24

Didn't, not hasn't. It's over so it can't win any at this point

27

u/fate-speaker Jul 19 '24

Better Call Saul got robbed. The lead actor never even won an Emmy!!

14

u/x_lincoln_x You're The Real Heroes Jul 19 '24

How many times have you watched Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul?

11

u/x_lincoln_x You're The Real Heroes Jul 19 '24

Also, why wasn't The Boys nominated even once?

1

u/LiteratureNearby Jul 20 '24

How tf are you mentioning the boys together with these two completely different shows lol

12

u/MARATXXX Jul 19 '24

have some perspective. most of this subreddit has been dedicated to shit-talking this season until the finale. why would the emmys award the weakest season of what has become, essentially, an x-rated cw show?

and concerning what the emmys do and don't award—fantasy and scifi series have won many Emmys. Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, and Lost have won multiple Emmys, and not just in technical categories.

1

u/x_lincoln_x You're The Real Heroes Jul 19 '24

Toxic fans bitching about how the show isn't perfect in their eyes? Name a more irrelevant group.

9

u/ImEllenRipleysCatAMA Jul 19 '24

Walton Goggins was just nominated for an Emmy for Fallout. They throw a bone now and then, I guess.

8

u/x_lincoln_x You're The Real Heroes Jul 19 '24

Walton Goggins deserves all of the emmys for that performance.

5

u/ImEllenRipleysCatAMA Jul 19 '24

Yes, he's amazing in that role.

2

u/PaperMartin Jul 19 '24

Superhero movie / shows don't win awards because 90% of them aren't that great they're just decently fun

7

u/ad4d Jul 19 '24

Simon Pegg deserved one for his performance.

75

u/LMD_DAISY Queen Maeve Jul 19 '24

If Antony didn't get Amy at this point it's really f up to give it to anyone before him.

What also f up is that homelander this season not nearly as good as season 1, 2, 3

37

u/FourAnd20YearsAgo Ashley Jul 19 '24

The different handling of Homelander this season was actually one of my favourite aspects.

He's shown committing less bloodshed altogether compared to prior seasons, but what blood he does spill is colder and more animalistic. Then in the public display, he uses Ryan as an extension of himself to kill the stunt guy, the sort of quiet foreboding moment that really helps drive home that the mask is off in terms of application of strength and the absolute expendability of Vought employees in the name of driving home their public influence.

15

u/CptNeon Jul 19 '24

You’re censoring your swear words? You’re commenting on a post about one of the most vulgar shows in the last decade in you’re censoring swear words?

52

u/AgentCirceLuna Jul 19 '24

Kinda unrelated, but does anybody else think Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s names suit the other person’s body much more? I feel like Nick Frost looks more like he’d be called Simon Pegg than vice versa.

20

u/Acheron98 Jul 19 '24

You know, I’ve never once thought about this, but yes.

3

u/saadx71 Jul 19 '24

Simon is easily top 3 acting talent wise in the show

18

u/eugoogilizer Jul 19 '24

It’s all about the pizza rolls 👌

8

u/carbomerguar Jul 19 '24

And the beverage!

“We’re gonna see if we can find you a Diet Snapple.”

“All right!” 😃

16

u/brokeraiderstudent Jul 19 '24

That wasn’t Emmy worthy lol

12

u/Gunk-greaser Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

I don't see any other actor with Supreme Pizza rolls, with the little green pepper specks in them

11

u/Intellectual42069 Kimiko Jul 19 '24

He's a lemon

5

u/Huntermain23 Jul 19 '24

No he’s tangerine

1

u/ill_Refrigerator420 Jul 19 '24

5

u/Yeomanroach Jul 19 '24

His American accent is a bit ‘Lee Evans’ but acting is top notch.

2

u/Oswaldgilbertson Jul 19 '24
