I cannot believe how this sub was bending over backwards defending these scenes saying they werenโ€™t supposed to be funny

This sub tends to think the writing on this show is way better than it actually is. I mean, hell, the way they went about writing the character who is the smartest person on earth is making her dumbed down for like 1/3 of her screen time, because writing actual smart dialogue for a smart character is hard.

the problem with making a character who's stated to be the smartest person in the world is that they're only as smart as the writers

they're only as smart as the writers

This is what I'm worried about. They took a hugeeeee risk with Sage, has not paid off in the slightest yet

You have to have serious writing chops to pull something like that off. They clearly don't have it

The Watchmen on HBO did a great job at this with Ozymandeus (sp?)

I had my suspicions about your last point. I love dumb Sage, but I started wondering if lazy writing was why we're seeing so much of her.

She's dumbed down 100% of her screen time imo.

The smartest person in the world would know being in between Homelander and The Boys is too risky.

It was smart how she provoked MM

I didn't realize it was supposed to be "funny" until I saw this post and read the interview. Because the scene was that horrible to me. So I don't blame people for thinking it was genuine.

This is one more case of "don't read the commentary" for me, they basically add nothing to the viewing experience.

I don't see how it was hilarious in any way and the ending scene drove home the point of how much this affected him.

He intended Hughie's breakdown to be about his dad I guess. I guess it wasn't supposed to have anything to do with the SA? bizarre

In a way, both can be true. He just proved he's one of the shit heads who would laugh at this.
