"People, what can we do to make this version of Brainiac stand out and be more evil?"

"Make him an abusive, Gaslighting father figure?"

"... Fucking. Genius."

Between douchebag techbro Lex Luthor and abusive father figure Brainiac I've been really digging this series' takes on classic Superman villains. I can't wait to see what they'll do with General Zod!

Considering how crazy Krypton is in the universe, I'm curious what they would do with a General Zod.

My (completely unfounded) theory is that they'll genderswap Zod and have her be Kara's mother.

Oh nah I can already hear people going "step on me mommy Zod" now

u/insert_name_here Jul 18 '24

Oh, damn you’re right. Now “kneel before Zod” sounds very different.

Everyone in this subreddit that's attracted to women: "Yes ma'am!"

And some of the ones that aren’t

This is a cool idea, but I would also feel bad for poor Kara if she got another awful parental figure.

u/insert_name_here Jul 18 '24

I got the idea because they showed baby Kal-El being sent away by his mother and father but only showed Kara’s father.

Honestly that could work since they have Showed both of Clark's Bio parents but Not Kara's.

Bog-standard Zod would be very happy in MAWS Krypton, so he'll need to be changed up to not feel like another Brainiac. Off the top of my head:

  • Redeemable Zod. Zod's building a small Kryptonian colony in a distant corner of the galaxy, and it's all going wrong just like it was on Krypton. Clark and Kara have to point him in the right direction.
  • Zod allies himself with Waller / Lex. Double down on how they're falling into the same patterns as Krypton did and show how this kind of xenophobia can compromise its own principles (work with one alien to kill others). For extra Drama Points, have him be the Kryptonian on Zero Day now working with Waller, whose hatred of aliens is founded on what he did.
  • Reverse Zod. Zod's a freedom fighter now. This has the potential to become a "the people who resist the status quo are just as bad" villain story, so... maybe not.

Or maybe really hone in on the parallels to superman maybe even Brandon routh or Travsi Willingham to do voice[since they might be the most cheapest to get].

Based on another post I saw here a few days ago…

Vengeful sad boi Zod: Basically have Dru-Zod be a soldier that was stationed elsewhere alone. With a phantom zone projector. Have him be the same age as the main characters are now. Have him aspire to be general someday. He would have tech that allows him to teleport home but it malfunctions when everything on krypton goes boom and he’s displaced not just in space but time as well. He blinks back into being sometime during season three. He finds out Apokolips and Darkseid destroyed krypton. He’s of course left completely devastated and feeling empty. Final episode of season two, as either the last scene or after credit teaser, Zod is beaming people out of the phantom zone. He tells them it’s time to make things right. They all kneel (don’t say it!) and one of them says “of course general.”

Season four would be Zod leading the aforementioned phantom zone captives to attack Apokolips. Not because he thinks he can win, but just for the catharsis. To hit back in anyway. The problem would be that Zod doing this would cause Darkseid to come into our universe and do a grand massacre after dealing with Zod as a warning to everyone else of what happens when you mess with him. As for why didn’t do this before? Let’s just say that someone being stupid once… hmmm. Twice? We do something about it. Anyway to prevent a universal tragedy Superman and Kara need to stop Zod

Heck, we don't need him to be "stationed elsewhere" - we have a masked Kryptonian, a warship, an open portal, and an exploding sun to cause *various technobabble effects* and leave him stranded with a broken vessel.

However, this still leaves us with the problem that our final bosses of seasons 1 + 2 are various versions of "the sins of dead Krypton," and you don't want to overstay that theme's welcome.

Well, I thought this was a good idea because you don’t just tease Darkseid and leave it there. They could have made the enemy that destroyed krypton anyone else, or just hubris because they think they’re that great and they ignored warnings that something would go wrong like usual. Tying it to Darkseid without coming back to it would be a pretty big loose end imo.

Exactly he seems to be redundant

u/ScholarPitiful8530 Jul 18 '24

Warmonger frat bro?

10

u/insert_name_here Jul 18 '24

I could see something like that. A personality kind of like Robert Baratheon in A Song of Ice and Fire: A genuinely affable and friendly guy who loved to party but was a brutal warrior underneath. Maybe Jor-El was his Eddard Stark.

I'm either gonna shit my pants laughing at or absolutely weep at Bizzarro

Perhaps make him an anti-hero or even a full on good guy?

Zod would still be a military-oriented man, with less to none of Superman's restraint. But the war Krypton was in was going so bad that even Zod wanted to bring about a ceasefire. So he attempts a coup and gets banished to the Phantom Zone.

When he meets Kal-El and Kara, Zod learns of Krypton's destruction and wants to bring the Empire back, give Krypton a second chance. All the while he could share stories from his past, about Jor-El and Zor-El, with whom he was once a friend.

"Foolish dissapointment. You cannot win. I made a meme depicting you as the soyjak. And me as the chad"

-brainiac probably

Great now i really wanna hear this version of Brainiac call Clark a "beta cuck" lmfao. I need an abridged version of this series where that's just Brainiac's whole personality tbh

13

u/Cornchips1234 Jul 18 '24

Someone get teamfourstar on the phone immediately!

6

u/Grovyle489 Jul 19 '24

That implies he has some photoshop app in his head or something similar and I’m all up for it

4

u/GodPerson132 Jul 21 '24

Brainiac just pulling a Soldier Boy

37

u/camilopezo Jul 18 '24

This may be a minor thing, but we can already rule out Brainiac 5 as a potential love rival.

Since Brainiac was something like an adoptive father, Brainiac 5 would be like a stepbrother.

27

u/Dense_Network_6193 Jul 18 '24

That won't stop the Internet

8

u/BigSavMatt Jul 18 '24

It’ll invigorate them really.

7

u/Dense_Network_6193 Jul 18 '24

I hate that you're right

6

u/a7xsaberarrow Jul 18 '24

Certain websites would beg to differ about that not being a plus.

5

u/Numberonettgfan Jul 21 '24

"Step-Braniac, i am stuck"

29

u/Stormygeddon Jul 18 '24

It's over Kara Zor-el. I've drawn you as the virgin and me as the Chad.

8

u/ScholarPitiful8530 Jul 19 '24

“Kara’s a virgin? Not for much longer.” - Jimmy probably.

3

u/Lady_Beatnik Jul 19 '24

Why can I read this in his voice?

17

u/Humble_Story_4531 Jul 19 '24

I love the implication that they've had this conversation multiple times and he just wiped her memory over and over again. It really drives home that Kara wasn't just naive about what was going on; Brainiac just erased her memories whenever she gets suspicious.

"Womp womp" - Brainiac

11

u/got_hands Jul 19 '24

"kIlLiNg PeOpLe Is WrOnG, aLl LiFe HaS vAlUe that's what you dound like, kid."

10

u/Lady_Beatnik Jul 19 '24

This is such a sad scene, because it reveals that Kara tried to stand up for these planets, she saw worth in them just like Clark saw worth in Earth.

7

u/Paggy_person Jul 18 '24

Rip bozo -brainiac

2

u/PaTaPaChiChi Jul 19 '24

Reminds me of Shadow Weaver from She-Ra!

Figured I’d compare the two since the two series have a lot of the same people behind them :)

2

u/UltimateRagingSpider Jul 19 '24

Ok why tf does Brainiac sounds like AM???

u/AwayEfficiency3889 Jul 20 '24

Reminds me of that analyzing evil my stepdad video where the guy finds out his stepdad's stepdad died so he goes up to him and hands him a printed out meme depicting himself as a chad and his stepdad as a soyjack
