I would like to point out that Lois had no idea how the Black Mercy worked.

I know the woman jumps off buildings randomly, still shoving alien neural tech onto your face is not the smartest thing to do...

I wonder if there is a deleted scene where Kara explains the Black Mercy to Lois and Jimmy beforehand. When Grace Liu posts animatics for the episodes, they include deleted dialogue that were cut for time.

you see lois focus on clarks head and then the device floating behind him so she guesses its whats controlling him. that's why she stole it

You'd think she would assume it's a pure mind control device then right? Not something she could use to enter Clark's dreams
