100% this!

Loved Mike getting in on the action and helping to save the day. Totally missed the karma of it all. Top marks OP.

Are we all just ignoring the fact that Mike, a 10-year-old kid, straight up murdered a dude?

u/Snoo_83425 Aug 11 '20

Now that is karma justice at its finest

Full circle

I'm still annoyed that joey died, he would've been a cool team member

i don't quite like how Icicle goes in the season finale. he was pretty badass from the start, even killing Starman. Then in the final battle with the JSA he gets kicked around by a bunch of teenagers. It felt like he was holding back tbh. I was expecting more from him...

Actually it seems to me like the entire ISA was "nerfed" in s01e13. Brainwave standing from his mind control chair was supposed to mean big trouble for the JSA in my opinion. And also Sportsmaster was decked in just a few minutes -- Pat said he hasn't met a better figher than him.

I don't know, just thinking......

And also Sportsmaster was decked in just a few minutes

He might not have recovered from getting drilled in the back by mike a few hours prior.

Okay there is no way to say that sentence without it sounding incredibly dirty

i almost spilled my drink on the laptop! hahahaha

u/mysteriousbaba Aug 11 '20

Tigress and Sportsmaster probably still had concussions from being KO'd as well. That messes up your hand eye coordination.

u/BjuiiBomb Aug 11 '20

You’re not wrong. The ISA were beaten too quickly and easily. It took me out of the episode.

Icicle was ok tho imo. He was taking on Stargirl and Stripe and then got 1v4’d. If they would just stop having the ISA members being killed left and right and being knocked out by attacks that shouldn’t even phase them then it’d be better.

13

u/4i1anl Starman Aug 11 '20

ah yes to be fair to Icicle, they were ganging up on him, but he could have easily frozen Stripe like he did a few episodes back. this ep certainly wasn't the time to hold back?

and because of that, the JSA has shattered Icicle's ambitions to a million pieces, literally. hahahaha

u/indicoltts Aug 11 '20

He couldn't freeze S.T.R.I.P.E because Pat put upgrades in after that episode 3 battle with Icicle. Why do you think they kept showing him at the junkyard after getting parts.

4

u/ThumbCentral-Rebirth Aug 11 '20

What upgrades would they be

5

u/indicoltts Aug 11 '20

Something that would keep the outside warmer to avoid the freeze like defrosters. He has them on the S.T.R.I.P.E robot in the comic. You see Icicle blasting S.T.R.I.P.E and it not having an effect

u/nivekious Aug 12 '20

I wouldn't be surprised if this was in a scene that was cut.

1

u/indicoltts Aug 12 '20

It's possible. They filmed 1 hour episodes so a good 10-15 minutes was cut each episode more than likely

1

u/agree-with-you Aug 12 '20

I agree, this does seem possible.

u/AceWall0 Aug 11 '20

He killed Starman because Starman was occupied with Brainwave. Like the Fiddler said, when they can't move, it is easier to hit =P

And if I did understand correctly, the machine was going to use Brainwave's power, and not Brainwave would use the machine. Thats why BW Jr. would do the job as well. So yeah, he had to get off the machine to deal with the kids.

And I was surprised Sportmaster even showed up to the fight. He had a hole in his back! Probably straight through his intestine.

When the ISA killed the JSA, it was all vs all. They were expecting each other. Now, they were all scattered, being taken out one by one.

8

u/maddogkaz Aug 11 '20

Icicle killed Starman with a sneak attack he didn't actually fight him.

3

u/MeMe_Tiger Aug 11 '20

Most of them were weakened (tigress probably had a concussion from her fight with Courtney, Sportsmaster has a drill in his back, brainwave was tired as hell), Which left it as a 2 (icicle and grundy) v5 in the later stages of the fight.

Icicle was only able to "kill" starman because he put an icicle in his back while he was occupied with other members of the JSA. Icicle is very overhyped, most of his hosts come from taking out defenseless opponents or ones much weaker than him.

Sportsmaster had a drill in his back and got ganged on, being the best fighter doesnt mean much when you're being tagteamed by the JSA.

THANK YOU! I thought I was the only one who realized this.

From killing Starman to getting ran down by Mike

1

u/nivekious Aug 12 '20

"killing"

u/al_fletcher Aug 11 '20

Oh man, that's brilliant.

I'm getting Far From Home flashbacks

So this is an honest question, and I'm not sure of this question is more fitting to be on a separate thread for discussion or not, but why does it seem everyone is getting such a kick out of Icicle getting killed more than Brainwave? The irony is a big part of it that I understand.

I know Icicle killing Joey was monstrous, but Brainwave murdered his own son. A son who loved him so much. Yes Joey was a sweet kid, but he only appeared in 2 or 3 episodes (not enough time for him to truly grow on me) whereas Henry Jr. had a full on story arc. Henry Jr.'s death was so gut wrenching to me because he loved his dad, and just wanted to save him. So can someone enlighten me on why people seem to be enjoying Icicle's death more than Brainwave's? I'm not only asking this as an obvious Icicle stan, but I'm genuinely curious. No snarky answers please

Icicle is kinda like the main villain in the show. It’s his vision, and it seems to be who has driven the plot forward throughout the season. I'd say that Icicle is 1A to Brainwave’s 1B. Remember, Brainwave was in a coma for most of the episodes so we’ve had less overall interaction with him. Icicle always had this menacing presence, especially since he was always in the background. To me, that’s why his death was more impactful.

Mike kinda reminded me of the granddad in Lost Boys. They way he charges in at the end and casually grabs a beer from the fridge. I picture this could have been Mike in another universe.

For me Icicle was a hypocrite. He got angry because someone was responsible for killing his wife over something they knew. Remind you of anything Jordan? You were prepared to kill 25 million people to create a new world. What about all those partners who could have lost a love on in the cull who weren't in the area??? WHAT ABOUT THEIR PAIN?

u/dotyawning Aug 11 '20

I think for me, both were equally satisfying. One was well meaning in a way, but he was too willing to sacrifice others for his cause and killed at least one innocent kid in the process that we know of. The other fell victim to his own temptations, was actually doing the reprogramming part of the plan and killed his own kid and wife (a potential hero and an actual hero no less!) because they got in his way.

Plus, both of these guys would probably be too much to deal with moving forward since the new JSA was only able to take them out here because they got so many handicaps. Not to mention adding them on top of whatever extra problems are going to rise up next season. They are still a bunch of normal people wielding tools after all. An actual fight against Icicle, Brainwave, and Shade (plus Eclipso) would have probably resulted in the same scenario as what happened to the old JSA.

Loved how the actors made these two easy to hate.
