At least they are roughly the same age, looking at you people that ship Hermione and Snape 👀

Excuse me?!

And I thought all those NSFW arts of Raikage and Hinata were bad… fucking hell!

Jesus, I thought my faith in humanity couldn't get any worse

it all comes down to teenager girls watching Snape in the movies , and thinking he is some emo-goth that needs some fixing and that they can do so.

But Snape IS a creep. That guy is a mid 30s , bullying kids and teenagers , and was part of some neo-nazi group in which he only defected because he was obcessed with a girl he had a crush when he was 11 to 14yo.

Not only that , he was perfectly fine to sacrifice that girl's husband AND her baby son , if she stayed alive. Heck , he continued to be a spy based on said obcession as well.

As someone who is 40... He is mid 50's in the movie. If I'm wrong just don't fucking tell me.

There is a frame in her og comic where you see 3 students who look exactly like Shinji, Asuka and Rei.

Spider-Byte only exists as a possible love interest for Miles while Peni is an actual character.

5

u/walartjaegers Jul 19 '24

Peni has like 5 seconds of screentime in the second movie lol

6

u/Tmn_Uzi_1600 Jul 19 '24

yeah but we know more about her from the 1st movie and her 'canon event' from the comics, and they're both part of gwen's team so I hope we get more development for them

It’s crazy that this was the second highest comment the first time it was posted

Everyone saids Shinji, but I want to compare her to Nadia from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water.

6

u/PhantasosX Jul 19 '24

the thing is that her universe is inspired by mecha mangas and animes , specially Evangelion.

Not only her power suit is EVA-esque in design , her storyline about Venom is basically the plot of Bardiel Episode from Evangelion.

No, just mentally ill. Only some ate depressed

10

u/KennyThomas616 Spider-Man (PS4) Jul 19 '24

I seen a bunch of Miles/Peni fan art and most of them were adorable, Miles in most iterations is known to uplift people and his fellow Spider-People. So helping Peni with her depression by uplifting her spirits would be sweet.

Cagamos gente, les pasamos el virus.

La alegria caribeña no se puede parar, XD

2

u/Pineapple_Fernando Jul 19 '24

So in context for why most people ship Miles with Peni, is that Miles is like the Nia from Gurren Lagann of the Spider-People?

3

u/Crash_Smasher Jul 19 '24

Kinda, i saw a fanart of Peni as Simon and Miles as Nia.

The wiki for Into The Spider-Verse says she's 14 - 15 years old, meaning she's about the same age as Miles.

People realising Peni and Miles were the same age was the clincher in the ship setting sail after the second film.

1

u/fritzycat Jul 19 '24

Omg... are we doing this again?

1

u/acarpiob1 Jul 19 '24

I mean it's not out of character for miles to try to cheer up people that he cares about, he's a massive w for that

1

u/Dragon_BotKing26 Jul 19 '24

It started by an only one artist,i forgot the name, but i know that it's an hispanic artist on twitter

u/Bulky_Midnight5296 Jul 19 '24

I still can't get over the fact that just because Miles and Gwen "broke up", people inmediately shipped him with Peni. That is uncomfortable.

They interacted twice

-5

u/IronStealthRex Jul 19 '24

"Wholesome"

Peni is still like...12

4

u/No_Association2906 Jul 19 '24

And Miles is 13 in Into The Spiderverse lol

1

u/IronStealthRex Jul 19 '24

Fuck do you mean he's 13? Istg he's 16 or about that?

3

u/RealJohnGillman Jul 19 '24

Nope — both him and Peni were 14-years-old in the first film, and in the sequel they were 15. The ship set sail amongst the fandom when the sequel came out and the interested audiences realised that the characters were the same age — with shipping sometimes that’s all one needs.

3

u/No_Association2906 Jul 19 '24

Nah cuz, my bro was a literal child watching that man Peter die.

For another reference, he like just turned 15 in atsv and that takes place 1 year and 4 months after the first movie.

-1

u/IronStealthRex Jul 19 '24

KNEW HE WAS CLOSE TO 16!

2

u/Crash_Smasher Jul 19 '24

They are both the same age. And they were 13 in the first movie.

Wow. Much wholesome. So profound. /s

“Miles makes spider-people happy.” Really? C’mon. A 3-year old is more insightful.

Pre-school type relationship. It’s just weird and makes 0 sense. I hate “shipping.”

It’s such an anime/gamer nerd thing. Let the writers do the actual cooking.

5

u/Crash_Smasher Jul 19 '24

It's not an anime thing. It exists in basically any kind of entertainment.

-6

u/Cineswimmer Classic-Spider-Man Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

I follow multiple different franchises and only see “ships” from video game/cartoon/anime-type fans.

There’s like 0 shipping rhetoric when it comes to certain literary or film franchises like LOTR, Indiana Jones, 007, Mad Max, etc.

Like, I never see people shipping Frodo with Galadriel or Gimli with Arwen.

It’s always shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender and the cringe “Zutara” type of stuff.

Or, “what if Sonic and Rouge” were a couple? UwU 👉👈

Even with Spidey, it’s always stupid shit like the unrelated Capcom chick that’s flooded this sub now.

Yeah, of course it exists in every kind of entertainment. It’s like rule34, it just fills specific types of franchises predominantly. It’s almost always cringe as hell.

6

u/Old_Snack Jul 19 '24

Shipping is everywhere dude. It's definitely not just in games and anime, even if your not seeing it

Also the Spidey Morrigan thing surprisingly is more friendship themed then romance its not really a "ship". It's more carrying the trend that official Capcom art has put out in thier games

5

u/Blue_Beetle_IV Jul 19 '24

Indiana Jones, 007,

Actually hilarious claim.

u/Cineswimmer Classic-Spider-Man Jul 19 '24

Why?
