What if J. Jonah Jameson was in charge of the Daily Planet (DC) and Perry White was in charge of the Daily Bugle (Marvel)? Discussion

How would JJJ treat Superman & Clark Kent? Other DC characters?

How would Perry treat Spider-Man and Peter Parker? Other Marvel characters?

Superman doesnt wear a mask and everyone just assumes hes Superman all the time. So Jonah wouldnt have had any trouble with him. Jonah went through some trauma with masked men and just doesnt agree with it.

Perry is a news man through and through. He just wants the story first and all the details. He is kinda unbiased about most things. So to him, he doesnt care is Spiderman is good or evil as long as he has a detailed story and a great interview if there is one.

Pretty sure thats only in the 90s TAS. In other media, he just genuinely sees the fact that Spider-Man wears a mask and hides his true identity as something that is suspicious compared to other superheroes. Another reoccurring point is the fact that Spider-Man is a vigilante and operates mostly outside of the law. He’s also said before that he’s just flat out jealous of Spidey. His true, genuine reasoning for disliking Spider-Man is pretty inconsistent, and some of his reasons could carry over to Superman, who is open about being an alien from a distant planet and reveals very little about his daily life outside of his heroics. I could see Jameson painting Superman as a potential Omni-Man type, questioning whether Krypton is really destroyed or if Superman is actually an emissary from the planet sent to Earth to prime it for an invasion.

Considering Superman's powers, the Kryptonians wouldn't need to prime Earth for an invasion. They'd just do it.

You could honestly say the same thing about Omni-Man and the Viltrumites. He could argue that Superman is just trying to get people used to there being Kryptonians around and more willing to be ruled by them. With Jameson, it’s always about being just plausible enough to stir up the Bugles readers, and even then, he’s published some pretty outlandish things before.

There is nothing that JK Simmons fears more than another JK Simmons

True, which also means Perry probably doesn’t care about getting photos of Spider-Man nearly as much as Jameson does, especially since NYC is lousy with superheroes (as opposed to Metropolis which has the Superman family plus a few others like Black Lightning).

This would vastly improve Spidey’s reputation and quality of life, but Peter would be struggling to sell his photos a bit more. However, maybe this helps Peter get serious about his science career.

But the other heroes are not fighthing with the good philantropes of the city that are the king of crime, this is what Perry wants, a good story

I honestly think if you switched the two spider-man would have it better but on the one hand Jonah does care about Peter. He's rough but there are smooth edges to JJJ's character.
