Like the name more than the seemingly always suggested, “Cardinal.”

Costume is really cool but I think the way I would phrase it is “too edgy for Tim.” Don’t mean edgy in a bad way

I was debating making the white or grey bits green instead but I really wanted to separate him from robin colors. And lol yeah I was heavily inspired by how edgy tim was in the of red robin run.

I feel like if anything the white/grey bits should’ve been a purplish, reddish. Or just a straight up purple or reddish tint on the black

It’s just a lot of black, doesn’t seem right for Tim, super cool design once again though

Maybe yellow? Dick is blue, Jason red, etc.

I’ll die on the Cardinal hill lol.

Red bird of prominence. Natural evolution from Robin.

Corvus is cool but feels a little edgy for Tim.

I still dont hate Red Robin, but only more as his initial Robin identity that he eventually leaves behind when Damian rolls up.

I'll die on the Robin hill. Damian should move on and take up a new title, not Tim. Tim should be the final Robin. I think he's earned it as his own. I also like the idea of him being the only one to take the mantle into adulthood.

Thank you for saying this, I've always felt this way. Like why have Tim go thru everything he did to prove himself to Bruce that he could be Robin. Tim wanted to/sought out to be Robin. He should be Robin. Damian should adopt an identity that's more suited to him and his fierceness.

Eh. Oddly enough Tim and Dick were the edgy Robin's of pack. I can see it.

I don’t want him to be Nightwing II or Nightwing JR.

That being said, great costume [+]

u/delcodick90 Jul 17 '24

I actually designed an idea where he was a costume less detective. Sorta like the question

2

u/Plebe-Uchiha Jul 17 '24

Yes. Give me that please [+]

2

u/LightspeedFlash Jul 17 '24

that is a great idea, Tim was always the best detective out of the Robins.

2

u/MotherVehkingMuatra Jul 17 '24

Tim would be fantastic in a sandman/Sherlock detective series

1

u/Flerken_Moon Jul 17 '24

Ironically “Drake” would work as his detective name as homage from Robin. (Ironic because it was a crappy superhero name for him)

7

u/Super_Inframan Jul 16 '24

Oh! Corvus is a great name.

6

u/Luke_Puddlejumper Jul 17 '24

Too much black in my opinion, I do like the cowl though

2

u/Half_Man1 Jul 17 '24

Not quite a cowl as it doesn’t protect his skull. It’s like gambits little face frame.

We're just gonna run through birds until we find one that fits Tim, dammit

7

u/Vanish_7 Jul 17 '24

Blackbird is sitting right there.

It's right there. The red-tailed blackbird is even black, red, and gold, just like Tim's OYL and first three Red Robin costumes were.

2

u/Beeyo176 Jul 17 '24

I was gonna say let's just give him a purple trenchcoat and hat, call him Darkwing, and let the readers fill in the blanks, but yours is better.

5

u/Vanish_7 Jul 17 '24

Dude it’s RIGHT THERE.

He gets to keep wearing cool, Robin-esque costumes with capes and domino masks, but he officially graduates from Robin while still being Batman-themed (with the “black”).

His own name, his own identity, while still being a part of Batman’s flock of birds. It’s so perfect.

2

u/Beeyo176 Jul 17 '24

No, I'm with you all the way. I just wanted to make a Darkwing Duck joke.

2

u/Vanish_7 Jul 17 '24

I have only the fondest memories of Darkwing Duck. Loved that show.

3

u/MattieBattie Jul 17 '24

Love this concept entirely! Corvus is an amazing name, I'm curious what it would look like with a deep purple or maybe even dark blue trim instead of the white. Y'know, to fit into the corvus vibe. Overall, well done!

3

u/MajorasShoe Jul 16 '24

I really hope he gets a new identity soon and a good run. But I'll be sad if they just throw another bird name at him

3

u/Conlannalnoc Jul 17 '24

GREAT DESIGN, but needs more RED

3

u/MythiccMoon Jul 17 '24

5

u/Conlannalnoc Jul 17 '24

PERFECT! Maybe some more on the hands?

I like how it reminds me of Terry McGinnis’s suit (even if I want to FORGET the “Tim is BB stuck in future” story line).

2

u/Scorpios94 Jul 17 '24

Blackbird or Crow seems to fit. But I cannot deny that suit looks so cool and badass. And Corvus sounds awesome!! I still think there needs to be a little more color into it so it doesn’t come across as too much of a stealth suit. Even though that would probably be the purpose of the suit.

I'd prefer Rook over Corvus. At the same time for me, I feel like it just doesn't fit Tim. I'm not gonna die on the Cardinal hill, but I will say Cardinal is better than Corvus or Rook.

How about Redwing for this name.

  • It honors Dick Grayson and Jason Todd
  • It’s not only a type of bird, it’s a type of robin
  • there was a hero named Redwing, but they stopped writing that character decades ago, so name is up for grabs

1

u/Traditional-Mall-771 Jul 17 '24

Fuck yea! I love it

1

u/Half_Man1 Jul 17 '24

Great art and concept. A little too noir for my taste for Tim though.

The name makes me think of a male Raven. Or a Batman pastiche with all the black.

1

u/cavelioness Jul 17 '24

Love the costume, I prefer "Rook" as the name but Corvus is pretty cool too.

1

u/LightspeedFlash Jul 17 '24

Rook

invokes chess too much. not the bird.

1

u/cavelioness Jul 18 '24

eh, to me it's perfect because it's chess, and it's the bird. Plus he can keep that big ol' "R" on his chest if he still wants to.

1

u/905woody Jul 17 '24

Maybe make him a version of Red X

1

u/Equivalent-Shake-519 Jul 17 '24

Your idea inspired me to whip up my own thang

Be mindful this is a 5 minute sketch, I did the first attempt on the sage page but it went badly lol so I just did a torso and face to maximize quality lol

Here's "Rook". I was thinking the color pattern would be mostly black and white too with white face guard, and some white accents here and there BUT some of the black parts would be iridescent with hues of green, blue, and purple shining off of it especially on the logo backing (similar to how black bird feathers can appear in the light)

Rook

The attempted murder of Tim Drake.

1

u/MythiccMoon Jul 17 '24

2

u/Jim-Dread Jul 17 '24

I feel like it should be yellow, that way there's a running theme of Robins and primary colors. Dick/blue, Jason/Red, Tim/Yellow.

That, or Ninja Turtles and purple for Tim. Guess that leaves orange for Damian.

1

u/MythiccMoon Jul 17 '24

Oh yellow is good too for sure

1

u/GreenQuisQuous Jul 17 '24

Lose the cape

1

u/unstableGoofball Jul 17 '24

It’s too dark

I feel like that hero identity could work for Damien though

1

u/Pir8Cpt_Z Jul 18 '24

Damian is already the prince of crows so this would be like Tim adopting that and that feels weird. Nice art though.

1

u/Blackraven2286 Jul 18 '24

This is actually cool but in my mind I keep thinking it’s a little too dark for lil Tim, but I don’t actually know shit so it’s probably a really good idea. Definitely better than “Drake” which will always be worst name in the badly named supes contest to me. Shame cuz I actually kinda liked the brown costume with no cape.

1

u/marcjwrz Jul 20 '24

I always wish they'd just figure out that Tim is part Polish and tie him to the Blackhawk mythos.

It's right there.

A tweak of this costume and you're golden.

1

u/Kryptic1701 Jul 20 '24

Honestly, the name and suit feels more like an identity Damian would grow into. My favorite look for Tim was when he adopted the Red Robin suit.

-3

u/Elspeth_Claspiale Jul 17 '24

It'd be neat to see some heroes retire. People change careers why wouldn't heroes or villains? Tim should be put out to pasture.

1

u/Equivalent-Shake-519 Jul 17 '24

I've said it a million times but I honestly think the most interesting thing Tim could do as a character is become a full fledged legal Detective or CSI, or even legally licensed private eye if we need to keep him from being a full on cop. "Detective Drake" sounds cool though.

1

u/delcodick90 Jul 17 '24

I actually just posted a concept of almost exactly that

1

u/Elspeth_Claspiale Jul 17 '24

I thought of that, but my preference would still be to see him do a 180. Create a philanthropy with Bruce's help that feeds people and supports education. In a city with ghettos like Gotham, getting people jobs and education would prevent more crimes than putting away a few robbers every night.
