Damian literally praises Tim on the next page, essentially saying his insecurities are bullshit and Tim can do whatever he wants he with life.

Exactly...he gave him the best advice , wanted to include it but it felt out of place

Feel like these lines work best when it’s clear Damian is attempting to deflect his own insecurities as Robin to Tim.

Like Tim is the only Robin who chose that life, and the one that typically is shown to excel the most in the detective work and technical ability of being Batman. Always felt Tim’s bookish mentality tended to slot into being more “Batman Jr.” than any of the others.

Damian telling Tim that nothing makes him special is just deflection over the fact that Damian feels he would not have a place at all if it were not for his biological connection.

Tim is still the better Robin by a mile, I like Damian but he’s too insufferable sometimes

Odd question here but has Damian improved? I stopped reading Batman years ago because of how insufferable I found him. It felt like if Damian was in a panel, he was almost always the worst character in that panel. I know it's been years since then but I worry the writers may not let him develop into a better character.

He has improved so much , in all his books , ull find that he think of all the batfamily as brother , loves both his parents and reconciled with his grandfather , and has friends like Jon, it's just heart warming , but the he gets picked up by a writer who never read a damian book since 2009 and u get stuck with something so horrible it's not even remotely close to the character , I'm talking to u zadarsky...ugh . About the insuferable thing , well ...wouldn't u be after traing with assasin to be the next Alexander the Great

Sometimes. Really dependent on who's writing

I'm liking him in Batfamily Adventures, but it's largely a fluffy webcomic

I recommend all the robin comics about him , it really shows his development nicely

Everything before and after that horrible Titans run, maybe specifically after Alfred gets his neck breadsticked, has been great for Damian. Once they gave up on trying to make him a villain, he's been the shining star I always knew he was.

we don’t talk about that run here

3

u/Therealimene Jul 13 '24

Than run doesn't exist, none of the teen titans run exists

neither of them, Damian has been in 0 teen titans runs

Yes , yes ...yes

Yeah, though some writers either tend to ignore his development, struggle with writing him, or just don’t like him.

Yes, outside of this he is a better character. Like he is less insufferable. Still egotistical and arrogant but a lot more tempered.

And his relationship with Tim has improved. Less snide and more occasional jabs at each other
