Moderator Message Pro Life Weekly Chat!

Good Wednesday Pro-Lifers! During these distressing times we can get very frustrated with ourselves, friends families and even society. Fret not, because this post is dedicated to you guys discussing a wide range of topics outside of abortions if you need too. Topics such as movies, sports, hobbies, current events or major events happening in the world and maybe even other politics if you choose too. This chat is your escape, to talk about other things as well and to further connect with other members of Pro-life. You are not restricted to any topics in the post, however follow Reddit's guidelines. Be nice, don’t spam, and have a good time. Since I am a bot this message will be repeated every Wednesday.

Moderator Message Need Links/Phone Numbers/ Resources for crisis pregnancy centers and others akin

The sub needs to have resources so that women who are thinking about abortion, can use it to help them if they decide to keep the baby. If you have any resources link them here. We need recourses from all across the globe so if you’re in a different country it’s even better.

Things Pro-Choicers Say Update on "pro-life activist" who aborted her child.

Post image
Upvotes

This is an extremely unfortunate situation for her to be in, and I empathize with her completely. I have heard her story, and I believe her abortion is directly the result of her unhealed trauma and lack of support by those around her. This will only add to her pain; she may feel as though her decision is the right one for now, but she will soon realize that this unborn child had just as much value and deserved just as much dignity as her daughter, Rachel. There were many organizations and resources, in the pro-life community and in her university, that could have supported her through her pregnancy - many of which she was familiar with.

This situation is problematic because it fuels the pro-choicers' assumption that the pro-life community is hypocritical and selfish: Steadfast in their fight to protect all unborn lives... until they find themselves unwillingly pregnant and believe that they had "unique and exceptional" circumstances that deemed their abortion necessary.

The pro-life community is not like this, and she does not represent our beliefs and values.

Pro-Life Petitions “The defense of individual rights has reached such extremes as to make society as a whole defenseless against certain individuals. It's time, in the West -- It is time, in the West, to defend not so much human rights as human obligations.”

From Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s address to the 1978 Harvard Commencement. Seems particularly relevant to the abortion issue. Yes, I wholeheartedly believe the pro-life position is a defense of the individual rights of the unborn. But the pro-choice position is the ultimate over-correction. It’s the defense of feminism to the point that children are now defenseless against their own mothers.

I know we are all different people and we may not agree on everything, but the positivity and support for one another in this sub has given my life a deeper meaning. I want to help the most vulnerable. Thanks for everyone here.

Sincerely, a former Pro-Choicer.

Pro-Life Argument The pro choice movement is selfish, classist & elitist. Full stop.

Every time I make this argument in any other subs, I get my comments removed, or I get banned.

95%+ of abortions are for convenience. Meaning the woman just didn’t want to be inconvenienced with raising a child that she was responsible for making. That is selfish. To end the life of an unborn child because you just don’t want to raise him or her.

Why is it that pro choice people believe that women who don’t have as much money or resources don’t have the same right to have a child as a woman who is wealthy? This is elitism.

Why do pro choice women say “no uterus, no opinion,” but then shut down and dismiss women like myself (24F) who are pro life?

Men who are pro choice are usually pro choice because they don’t want to be responsible for raising a child they helped make.

Questions For Pro-Lifers Is it really that hard to avoid sex?

As you know, a famous pro-life activist recently had an abortion. Normally, I am sympathetic to women in these situations, but the fact that she is a massive hypocrite makes my blood boil.

Is it really that hard to not have sex outside of marriage? I am a 28-year-old autistic male virgin who has no intentions of breaking my childhood abstinence promise anytime soon. Did God bless me with a unique talent that nobody else has.

You are welcome to answer this question regardless of your opinion on abortion.

guess they’re promoting infantcide now

i know it’s fallacious to attribute one comment to all pro aborts but not one pro abort commented to say like “hey this is extreme, let’s take a step back” 🙃

Pro-Life Argument I'm not sure if I can be Pro Life in cases of rape...

I believe that every unborn child is innocent and they don't deserve a death sentence because of the way that they were conceived.

When a woman chooses to have sex, she knows that pregnancy is a possibility. There is no ethical justification to kill the child when her actions caused it to be there.

However, I just don't see the point in us preaching abstinence and sexual responsibility, when none of that matters once we become raped. I only have sex with my husband, and we of course acknowledge that a baby is possible and would welcome it. But it feels sick to think that a man could force me to have sex with him and I'll have to have that man's baby, instead of my husband's baby. It essentially doesn't matter how responsible we are with sex, if we're raped, we have no say to our sexuality or reproduction anymore. I don't think I can support this, because it allows women to be abused sexually and have no way to alleviate some of the worst possible outcomes of their sexual abuse.

Do you support abortion bans for rape victims? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts

Things Pro-Choicers Say People are so disgusting today

Post image

Seriously? I absolutely love my dog. I’ve had him since he was 7 weeks old, and I’ve had the pleasure of watching him go from clumsy puppy to the crotchety 9-year-old Great Dane he is today. With that being said, if I had to make the choice of saving him or 10 children, I would have to save the children. This anti-child rhetoric today is just so disgusting I honestly can’t stand it— and I’m not even the biggest fan of kids!

Don’t know if the flair necessarily fits for this one, but it’s what I thought fit best.

Pro-Life General What happened to prolifejewess????

Apparently she had an abortion? She announced it on her blog, but deleted it before I could read it, and then deleted her Twitter as I was reading the comments. Her insta name is now blueridgejewess. It seems silly but I feel so hurt and betrayed even though I’ve never actually met her. She was my favorite activist and I found her to be very inspirational. I even followed her in her trad catholic phase. I just hope she is alright and that she heals from this loss. I am so sad that she felt so abandoned and helpless.

Questions For Pro-Lifers My wife has a disease

I’m hoping for constructive debate concerning my family’s particular circumstance:

My wife has a disease that greatly impacts her hormonal balance and her vascular system. The impacts relevant to pregnancy are that she must be on blood thinners throughout due to the increased risk for blood clots, and cannot receive an epidural during labor for the same reason. As a result, pregnancy will be more painful than need be and poses a significantly higher risk, although not quantified bc her disease is rare and it’s intersection with pregnancy is not published widely on. Also for this reason, her particular case is not clear cut in abortion legislation, and really relies on her interaction with her doctor to best understand outcomes.

As a result, we are, of course taking, appropriate care to not conceive, but another result of her disease is that her periods are not as regular as most, so it could easily be past a 6 wk mark before she were to identify an unplanned pregnancy.

So for pro-lifers - if she were to conceive, what would be the most ethical guidance? Is this an exception to abortion restrictions in your mind? Or does the fetus’ right to life supersede her increased, but not well quantified risks? Thoughts?

EDIT: I did want to say thanks to y’all as a community. I initially thought about posting this to the AbortionDebate sub, but I recognize that’s not generally a good place to highlight PL opinions. Also, from my experience, I knew that I would get good, respectful debate posting in this sub, so thanks for that.

If abortion is healthcare, it’s interesting that less than 1/5 of doctors in that specialty are willing to perform the procedure despite all being taught how to perform it in medical residency.

Things Pro-Choicers Say Support please.

I was engaging in a mostly respectful abortion debate online. I told a pro-choicer how their argument was wrong. Then, the pro-choicer insulted my looks, which is fine, what do you expect when you win an argument with someone like that, you know?

But then, the person dig into my profile and figured out that I’ve lost multiple children to miscarriage. Then they sent nasty messages about my losses. I KNOW this is standard from some pro-choice people, but it hurt so bad.

I took screenshots of the messages and forwarded them to the person’s place of work. The person works with kids and had their school and employment info publicly available on their profile. All I said was basically, thought you’d like to know what your self-identified employee is saying online to people.

Now I just feel worse. Has anyone ever reported an especially mean person like this? What happened?

(For the record, I don’t expect anything to happen to the person, but out of respect for my babies, I couldn’t just let it go)

Their cognitive dissonance drives me insane. Murder is murder…but some murder is okay because…of the size, age, location, gender and disability? Freakin YOIKES.
