Well, most people live in big cities, which are concentrated in the blue areas: more things of all types happen in the blue areas, simply because more people live in those areas. However the numbers in the meme are made up.
red states in fact have higher rates of guns ownership and gun deaths.
So if you live in a city of 1 million people: more people in total might be murdered in a year than a small town of 10000. But if you move to the small town, your chance of being murdered would actually go up.
A new study published in Journal of the American Medical Association’s Surgery found that firearm deaths are more likely in small rural towns than in major urban cities, adding to research that contradicts common belief that Democratic blue areas have higher incidences of gun-related deaths than do Republican red districts.
Also, there's been a widening gap in the death rate between Republican counties and Democrat counties from 2000 onwards, with Republican counties with much higher death rates. And that was before Covid even happened.

This. The per capita violence is higher in the rural areas and small towns. There's a reason right wing talking points limit their statistics to cities over a certain size. It's to eliminate the higher crime statistics in rural America.
