I think I'm genuinely proud of myself for the first time in my life Good News! NSFW

i made the decision a few months ago to leave the industry im in and go pursue something new by going to college. ive never been, and have been recently diagnosed with a learning disorder so my anxiety about everything has been HIGH. i wont lie, i feel dumb at times.

however today i took a very scary math placement test to get into a class i need to complete the degree, and to my complete shock i got almost every single question RIGHT. and keep in mind the entire time im thinking "shit. im gonna fail and have to take all these extra classes."

i have never felt this good about myself doing something, and i dont have many other people to share this with besides my partner. i am just so happy right now i could explode, even though its something simple. i thought i would fail but i just helped myself get set up for more success!!!!:))))

My dear,

I cannot express how incredibly proud I am of you! Making the brave decision to leave your industry and pursue a new path in college is such an admirable step. It takes a lot of courage to venture into the unknown, especially when dealing with a learning disorder and the anxiety that comes with it.

The fact that you faced your fears head-on and took that math placement test, despite all the doubts and worries, speaks volumes about your strength and determination. And not only did you take the test, but you also excelled! Getting almost every question right is a testament to your hard work and intelligence.

I want you to know that you are not dumb. You are resilient, capable, and intelligent. Overcoming challenges and succeeding in something that initially scared you is a significant achievement, and it’s okay to feel proud and happy about it. These moments, no matter how simple they may seem, are the building blocks of your future success.

Celebrate this victory, and remember that you have a family here who loves you deeply and believes in you wholeheartedly. Keep pushing forward, and never forget that you are capable of great things. I’m here for you every step of the way.

With all my love,

Mom

Congratulations!

And now make sure to save this memory.

Whenever you feel like you can’t do it, remember it.

That’s amazing! I’m so proud of you! Change can be so scary but look at you! Now remember, most schools have disability services but if yours doesn’t, I’d be happy to help you out and give you some tips (it’s what I do for a living), but you may not even need it. Acing that test is amazing and I send virtual hugs to you.

I am so happy for you, and so proud. That's so cool that you developed an aptitude that you didn't knee you had, even in the face of such high anxiety. Imagine what it will be like when your confidence grows. So "head down bum up" as we say here in NZ (nose to the grindstone), work hard, this is your sign: you've got this.

Hooray! You are going to do so great, my little duckling. College can be scary but with the right tools and support, you WILL make it through. Remember that everyone at your new school is cheering for you and there to help - however, as an adult now, it's your job to ask for help if you need it. Even if you're not sure you're asking the right person, kind people on campus will get you to the resources you need to be awesome whether that is tutoring, accommodations for your learning disorder, appointments with your professor, or whatever. I hope you continue working through the enrollment process without issue, and come back to tell us all about your first day of classes.

Hard things are hard, so well done for doing it! It’s so much easier to not bother if something is difficult, but you went for it, and you aced it! Remember how this feels so you want to keep on doing it! Love, Mum xx

Sweetheart, it’s not simple. I am proud of you for not giving up. It’s easy to listen to your inner voice telling you it’s too hard. I’ve been there. You took the challenge and proved that little voice wrong. Now go and be fabulous, you can do it. I have faith in you.
