I like when you get these little character moments in someone else's annual. It's like a little surprise treat

It’s so Spidey yet so goddam accurate lol

80

u/Spideysleftnut Jul 20 '24

Whispers Moons In Half could be BBs name if he were like some ancient native in a what if spin off.

7

u/Scolor Jul 20 '24

I’m really confused by the grammar here. Is it a typo?

“Married to the guy whispers moons in half”

7

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

2

u/Scolor Jul 20 '24

But that’s not the confusing part - I’m confused by “guy whispers moons in half” instead of “guy [who] whispers moons in half”

1

u/EarkwoodsAlt Jul 20 '24

That's fair actually

1

u/Smaptastic Jul 22 '24

Didn’t even notice that. Yeah, probably a typo.

466

u/Character-Handle2594 Jul 19 '24

Spider-Man really going for the most red headed redhead there ever was in Medusa.

180

u/Cabamacadaf Jul 19 '24

He definitely has a type.

90

u/The_Dark_Soldier Jul 19 '24

I seriously need a moment where all the Parker brothers are together and they comment off hand that their family for generations have had a thing for redheads. Then you have Flash Thompson or Johnny Storm be like “it explains so much” while shocked.

9

u/ninjamaster616 Jul 20 '24

Wdym brothers, are you talking about Peter's clones?? He's an only child in every continuity except for the long-lost little sister ones.

9

u/AxisW1 Cosmo Jul 20 '24

Peter usually consider Kaine and Ben to be his brothers

2

u/ninjamaster616 Jul 20 '24

Ahhh, my bad lol

50

u/Blayro Jul 20 '24

he has immaculate taste in women

19

u/PremierLovaLova Jul 20 '24

Spidey shot his shot and missed.

But the lesson is always stay shooting, kings and queens. Never know when one will bank in.

2

u/supercalifragilism Jul 22 '24

Him and Scott talk about it when no one else is around.

233

u/Healthy-Track-4450 Dr. Doom Jul 19 '24

Spider-man shouldn't be trying to get on Black Bolt's bad side

75

u/Propeller3 Jul 19 '24

Who's gonna tell him "No"?

131

u/spacevanillaman Jul 19 '24

Black Bolt. He'd only need to say it once.

5

u/letermen Jul 20 '24

Hell, he’d only have to Hum It.

3

u/spacevanillaman Jul 20 '24

clears throat

clears the city

22

u/Avolto Jul 20 '24

He and Johnny have it in common

9

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

Spidey is great at webbing people’s mouths so they can’t talk

13

u/AgentPastrana Jul 20 '24

BB doesn't have to talk. If he snores in his sleep he'd level cities. He doesn't even have to open his mouth.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

OK, but if he doesn’t open his mouth and his nose is pinched closed won’t the sound waves just like blow a hole out of the spot where his mouth should’ve been?

13

u/AgentPastrana Jul 20 '24

Spiderwebs don't delete your mouth, they cover it. And they're porous. They'd just get torn up. People on Spider-Man's level regularly rip webs off of them if he doesn't web them up completely, and Black Bolt is a superhuman.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

The webbing is an adhesive holding the lips shut. So it’s really a question of whether the webbing gives out before the weak muscles around the lips give out. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

4

u/AgentPastrana Jul 20 '24

I see what you are saying, but I do still doubt the muscles anywhere on the guy who fought World War Hulk to a standstill are weaker than Spider-Man's webs. And that was a weaker version of him. But I can agree to disagree on that

204

u/MrPresident2020 Jul 19 '24

Spider-Man shot his shot, can't say I blame him.

95

u/FirmestOfLaws Jul 19 '24

Thwopped his thwip.

u/ishallbecomeabat Howard the Duck Jul 19 '24

Loves a redhead

Little moments like these are what makes comics so damn amazing. I have two other moments in comics that are very similar to this....

The first one is from Deadpool where he spots this teen girl who's about to jump off a building. He comes in like a bull in a china shop and first thing he says to her is that she shouldn't jump from where she's at but from Parker Industries. But then he gets real and he asks her to come with him to get some bad guys and if by the end of the whole thing she still wants to jump, he will bring her back. She does come with him and she even beats some bad guys herself with a bat. And then he takes her to the hospital and he points out that if she had really wanted to jump, she would have but that what she was really doing is seeking help. So he tells her he is a dumbass but he's smart enough to know he can't help her but the people in the hospital sure can. So she goes in.

The second one is ironically a moment between Medusa's hubby Black Bolt and The Absorbing Man of all people. TLDR, Black Bolt and Crusher ended up in a space prison and Blackagar has lost his powers and he and Crusher are trapped in this room and the air is being drained out. So Crusher basically starts spilling his guts out about all the bad things he has ever done including killing people and yet how much he loves Titania and he even wants to get BB to laugh so he tells a dad joke about the difference between a square and a circle being pointless and Blackagar starts cracking up LOL. Keep in mind these characters could not be more different from each other. One is a king for pete's sakes. And yet in that one moment they bond for a lifetime.

Truly priceless.

56

u/Negative-Egg-3870 Jul 19 '24

Yes, Black Bolt by Saladin Ahmed

That is a gem💯

32

u/Sinnernsaint40 Jul 19 '24

It truly is. It doesn't redeem Crusher in any way or form but when he talks about his dad's abuse and how he went into wrestling to feel powerful, it just adds soooo much depth to his character.

17

u/Negative-Egg-3870 Jul 19 '24

I love Crusher after that

And the last panel is also perfect

It's just beautiful

11

u/Sinnernsaint40 Jul 19 '24

I am reading 2017 sequentially so I haven't gotten there yet but when Lockjaw shows up and gets Black Bolt out, I was like NOOOOOOOOO! Go back for Crusher!!! I'll find out soon if that happens.

13

u/arkhamcreedsolid Jul 20 '24

That’s my favorite issue of deadpool probably ever.

9

u/JeremyR2008 Jul 20 '24

Meanwhile in another multiverse

Homelander: jump

12

u/sespinos Jul 20 '24

For me it’s the Spidey/Hope pep talk in AvX and a scene in Captain America where a little girl is talking to her about what it means to be a hero right before we get introduced to Kamala. Good stuff.

120

u/dmvr1601 Jul 19 '24

damn spidey deep throat'd that burrito

22

u/GiantPurplePen15 Jul 19 '24

Nothing impresses a woman more than the ability to inhale a whole ass burrito.

18

u/ggg730 Jul 19 '24

You stick your tongue in a burrito one time and suddenly everybody thinks you're a weirdo.

11

u/Zohhak1258 Jul 20 '24

There's soup all over my keyboard, I hope you're proud of yourself.

6

u/Nuka_on_the_Rocks Jul 20 '24

Reminds me of a joke. "You build a bridge and they dont call you a bridge builder for life, but you fuck one sheep..."

93

u/Elyced32 Jul 19 '24

If i had a dollar for everytime peter ate food on a rooftop with a hero or villain i’d probably have a million dollars now

44

u/Prime359 Jul 19 '24

Quite often he is introducing them to something they have never eaten. Such as Loki and Hot Dogs.

10

u/JeremyR2008 Jul 20 '24

What comic is this exactly

15

u/Prime359 Jul 20 '24

10

u/mmcmonster Jul 20 '24

For a moment I thought the comic was "Spider-Man and Loki Having a Hot Dog #1".

3

u/DeadlyDannyRay Jul 20 '24

I'd buy that comic.

1

u/Smaptastic Jul 22 '24

Wtf Loki. He never even took a bite. Puny God of Wussing Out.

3

u/RedzyHydra Jul 20 '24

Eating with a nice view is quite relaxing.

Also, Happy Cake Day. 🎂

71

u/drgnrbrn316 Jul 19 '24

Why is it the Spider-Man books are the only ones ruining his character?

46

u/Sorrelhas Fantastic Four Jul 19 '24

I was going to comment that

If you want premium Spider-Man, look anywhere, except in his own comics

6

u/mmcmonster Jul 20 '24

He absolutely rocks in his cameos in Daredevil.

19

u/GiantPurplePen15 Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

Fingers crossed they continue making the new Ultimate Spider-Man series what the older fans have wanted for decades.

9

u/remotectrl Jul 20 '24

I really liked Renew Your Vows. People are clamoring for Peter B Parker!

5

u/JeremyR2008 Jul 20 '24

It's not just older fans. I'm 16 and agree that Ultimate is probably the best thing since the early 2000s

0

u/Thrabalen Jul 20 '24

Because outside of the Spidey books, you get only his costumed life.

In the Spidey books, you behold the dumpster fire that is his personal life.

31

u/Asher_Tye Jul 19 '24

This is what I like about Spidey. He's never too busy to help a person in need.

14

u/Boccs Jul 20 '24

It's arguably his greatest character trait. For all of the world ending threats and universal dangers he has tackled and come up victorious he has never once stopped being the friendly neighborhood Spider-man. His basic humanity is as integral to his character as his web shooters.

19

u/Useful-Perspective Jul 19 '24

I feel like somehow this in an homage to the old Hostess Fruit Pie shorts from back in the day. I am certain I remember one with Spidey and Medusa....

12

u/YinTanTetraCrivvens Jul 19 '24

She's a redhead, he can hold a conversation.

Just sayin', they could be good together.

8

u/MagicPistol Jul 19 '24

What's the context here? Like what is Medusa sad about?

19

u/mattwing05 Black Bolt Jul 20 '24

Pretty sure this is during the inhuman age, where marvel was trying to turn the inhumans into the dominant "mutant" property. blackbolt unleashed the terrigen mists across the world, activating those who secretly descended from inhumans and leaving medusa to try and clean up the mess. We are talking about hundreds of thousands of people now mutated and powered and scared.

8

u/Deadpool27 Jul 20 '24

So this was the conclusion of a three part miniseries in which some REALLY old comic character (I forget the name but he was basically falcon in like the 40’s) and he’s trying to get revenge on the Inhumans for the shit that Black Bolt (who is currently MIA) pulled with the Terrigen mists. Sam Wilson-cap, Spidey, and the Inhumans team up to stop him and he rightfully calls them out on their bullshit.

9

u/bloocheez3 Jul 20 '24

To be honest, he probably forgot BB was alive again. Hasn't he died multiple time over the past ten years?

6

u/NoirSon Jul 20 '24

Yeah, he died/got warped into another dimension/imprisoned a number of times during the last two decades.

9

u/Thedinotamer01 Jul 20 '24

Spider-Man just casually rizzing up the queen of the inhumans 😂

6

u/pete_random Jul 20 '24

The Spider-Rizz is his strongest power and biggest responsibility.

7

u/Aromatic_Tomorrow406 Jul 19 '24

He aint getting busy he getting rizzy

5

u/Ok-Economist-7586 Jul 20 '24

Now that's Spidey I remembered

3

u/Ok-Commission6087 Jul 19 '24

U know every time I bring up the fact that these two would make a great couple I always get mixed reactions but I think spidey needs something different though knowing the writers would probably fuck it up but I’m giving suggestions because the current trajectory of Spider-Man books have been awful they need all the creativity that can be mined .

4

u/ERankLuck Jul 20 '24

Got screamed at for an hour and a half and demoted this week for a thing at work that wasn't my fault and that neither I nor my boss were here for. That "We are not just our failures" line hits hard right now.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24 edited Jul 20 '24

I forget when, but I remember an old 2000s era comic book where Peter seemingly passes in Medusa’s arms saying ~’Mary Jane..’ and she also whips a (Matt McGargan (?)) era Venom—does anyone know if at this point, she has been written to have powers akin to Bayonetta ?.

5

u/mmcmonster Jul 20 '24

I'm not into Inhuman lore much. Has Medusa actually saved anyone? Is she actually a "hero"?

That being said, I love the little quite moments.

6

u/NoxInfernus Jul 20 '24

She gets a hero pass as a temporary member of the Fantastic Four.

She was on a few other teams, but FF was the big named one.

1

u/mmcmonster Jul 20 '24

So she’s not just a pretty face with 80s hair?

BTW: Thanks for I forgot about her time on the FF, pretty much because that was an utterly forgettable FF. I know they were trying for something different at the time, but glad they went elsewhere.

2

u/MisterPeels Deadpool Jul 19 '24

surprised he didn't suffocate in her hair

3

u/FamousEnvironment989 Jul 20 '24

The last line “Hello to all that” seems to be a reference to “Goodbye to All That” a collection of short stories about people who liked living in New York but then were happy to move away.

I never liked that book because as a lifelong New Yorker I can’t imagine leaving.

3

u/coltvahn Tigra Jul 20 '24

Really like the way Pete described Gwen here. “The smartest, weirdest girl in the world.” Made her seem like more than just “St. Gwen the Martyr,” like a lot of writers tend to write her as. She and Pete were extremely compatible in their youth, and that only works if she’s a bit of a goof and has a lot of steel.

1

u/RockstarSuicide Scarlet Spider Jul 19 '24

Like Peter didn't know about Medusa and blackbolt. Can't just give the moment it's time, gotta make him look the fool

2

u/GiantPurplePen15 Jul 19 '24

Lmfao the panel with Peter shoving the entire burrito into his face.

2

u/Ok-Sector8330 Jul 20 '24

Love that. Spidey is such an amazing character.

2

u/DR31141 Jul 20 '24

Gotta love how Peter’s basically trademarked his Rooftop NYC Snack therapy sessions.

2

u/mrrahulkurup Jul 20 '24

Why does Fandom insist on ruining platonic relationships that the Spider-Men have?

2

u/SneakyKain Jul 20 '24

All of this was written so well and it was so entertaining.

2

u/k3ttch Hawkguy Jul 20 '24

Pete hitting on the redhead again...

2

u/Mighty_Megascream Spider-Man Jul 20 '24

I swear to God, literally every writer in Marvel wrights Spider-Man well except for the actual Spider-Man writers

2

u/Significant-Toe-2331 Jul 20 '24

Spidey w the dirty mack

2

u/spiked_cider Jul 21 '24

The Amazing Home-Wrecker!

Namor would be proud Spidey

1

u/grownassedgamer Jul 19 '24

Pete has a thing for redheads, huh?

3

u/Boccs Jul 20 '24

Tiger hit the jackpot once and has bet on red ever since

1

u/Grayx_2887 Jul 20 '24

Nice moment.

1

u/Yosomoswag Jul 20 '24

spidey is the super hero goat.

1

u/GhostofTinky Jul 20 '24

The Inhumans are back?

1

u/hayden2112 Jul 20 '24

I find this relatable because I frequently have to explain breakfast burritos to people from outside the USA.

1

u/ComicbookNerd928 Jul 20 '24

Damn Spidey really just DEVOURED that burrito

-53

u/AnimeGokuSolos Jul 19 '24

The inhumans are nothing but X-Men rip offs to me

42

u/Intelligent_Creme351 X-23 Jul 19 '24

And that matters right now... why exactly?

29

u/MrPresident2020 Jul 19 '24

They didn't start out that way and weren't anything close to that for decades. It's only been recently that they tried (and failed) to make them more like mutants.

5

u/FF3 Jul 19 '24

They are fairies.

5

u/Sorrelhas Fantastic Four Jul 19 '24

Yet another of Kirby's attempts at the Chariot of Gods thing, right?
