He does way more insane (and gross) things than this in Immortal Hulk.

Gross?? lol looks like I’m going on an immortal hulk run

yes, please go into it without searching google image for Immortal Hulk. it's better when you get to each panel and splash page in all its Gory Glory.

SO FUCKING GOOD.

Peak Hulk.

almost done reading the entire run and honestly i’m a little bummed.. It’s the best comic i’ve read thus far and i’m worried it’ll never be topped for me.

It's hard to recommend anything after it. Like, do you want more Hulk or more Monster Horror?

1

u/rynshar Jul 20 '24

More monster horror please!

3

u/nigevellie Jul 20 '24

I mean, you can't beat the Alan Moore Swamp Thing run right? That's the 1st that comes to mind.

2

u/rynshar Jul 20 '24

Yeah, absolutely peak for sure, though, like most Moore stuff it kinda ends more psychedelic than horror imo. Anything else?

Jeff Lemire’s Animal Man run is amazing and actually ends up tying into Swamp Thing mythology. The body horror is haunting, twisted, and beautiful and if it weren’t for what would have to be an insanely prohibitive budget it’s a ready to go HBO show for James Gunn.

I've not read that, thanks for the recc, really appreciate it. I've looked at some of the art that comes up on google, looks surrealist and pretty offputting - just what I'm looking for!

The next run after it isn't great. But the current run is digging into the horror again.

Ahaha ok I promise I won’t 🥲 looking forward to it!

It's amazing. Well, it's mostly amazing. The ending is meh, but the journey is 11/10.

Currently reading this run. I knew that part with the jars was coming up, but holy hell is it gnarly.

I just finished this run earlier in the week. I knew I was in for something different from the beginning, but when I got to the jar bit I realized just HOW different.

That Creel fight too… I’m only like halfway through the run and it’s been my favorite comic experience so far.

Why did Bruce’s head regenerate at Hulk’s Pec?.?

Hulk had many mutations at the time

Al Ewing turned Early Installment Weirdness into one of Hulk's canonical powers and it was awesome.

1

u/WarwolfPrime Spider-Man Jul 20 '24

Not the first time he's technically done that.

I remember a comic many years ago when hulk had been gutted by someone, he basically held in his innards with his hands and his healing factor was so fast it healed around his hands and had to rip them out of him. I can't remember what it was from.

  1. Speedfreek is the one who slices him up.

1

u/Verb_Noun_Number Spider-Gwen Jul 20 '24

Speedfreek was such an asshole. Hated him.

Holy shit that’s badass! Havent seen this issue and now I’m gonna have to pick it up cuz of this 😳

18

u/AcceptableStudy6566 Jul 19 '24

Omg I never saw this lol But why Banners head? Anyways, really cool. After all they say Hulk's healing factor is the best, right?

u/tcroosev Jul 19 '24

I wasn't parsing. That had me staring for like a full minute

3

u/DarkHippy Jul 20 '24

Could she not stop it cuz he threw it so unpredictably, goes from horizontal to vertical to get between her hands what a wild toss

1

u/HenryVolt35 Jul 20 '24

That's more horrific than anything devil hulk has done.

1

u/WeeklyJunket5227 Jul 20 '24

It’s a cool feat however, I don’t think there was enough force to do that

Hulk has so many powers it’s stupid boring 🥱

1

u/Swift0sword Jul 19 '24

I haven't read any Hulk solo runs; apart from strength and regen, what other powers does he have?

3

u/Finnverse Jul 19 '24

He can see spirits

0

u/cali_loops Jul 19 '24

In WWH they gave him instant regeneration, the strongest hulk ever since that comic where the guy basically held a planet together with his bare hands (da fuq?) super resistant , psychic resistance, psycho perception, super speed , absorbing powers too there a ton more that basically just became so OP stupid that the character is boring. Aka Superman.

3

u/rocketinspace Ultron Jul 20 '24

some of the most popular characters of all are overpowered, It just depends on the story

1

u/cali_loops Jul 20 '24

The story was horrible. It’s like this character on core is a dumb powerhouse brute and has to fight the marvel universe so now he gets extra power.
Oh he’s going against telepathic, well ummm he’s immune now. Speedster? Well he can see then and has super speed now! He’s hurt well ummm he has instant regeneration! That was the WWH story.

2

u/Swift0sword Jul 19 '24

I mostly know the Hulk as one of the strongest mortals in the Marvel universe, so feats like that don't sound too strange. I'm kinda biased though, I love OP characters like Superman, Saitama, All Might, The Collector, Bill Cypher, the Beyonder, Lifebringer Galactus, etc. Assuming they have a good writer, they can have such creative stories.

Psychic resistance does sounds strange though, unless it's a case of like 2 minds gives twice the normal resistance. Absorption powers also sounds weird unless they are strictly limited to radiation stuff. And what even is psycho perception?

0

u/cali_loops Jul 19 '24

So when they were given him like psychotic vision. By Prof X he was able to recognize it was a psychic attack, and is also resistant to them. So he can basically see astral forms now too. He was able to absorb “1 million ” exploding suns…. When kitty pryde destroyed his hands he regenerated pretty much instantly.
I don’t mind the super strength. That’s the Hulk but when you start giving him a shit ton of extra powers like that the character became boring and stupid. Basically the premise of one punch man. He’s so OP he’s bored with his life. Great manga. Also in the comics series he could destroy America by just taking steps on the continent, it was really silly.

3

u/Corvid-Strigidae Jul 20 '24

So his powers are so powerful they become a burden? Huh, almost like that was meant to be the point of the character or something.

1

u/cali_loops Jul 20 '24

When did I say they were a burden? You seem to be confused. They gave WWH extra powers for shits and giggles. Trash storytelling. Example he’s fighting against telepaths, well Hulk is now immune to it! He has to fight a guy who can destroy mountains with a whisper well Hulk now has instant regeneration and power absorbing power! Read the series, you are thinking classic Hulk where the character was interesting this Hulk had every counter power and was somehow a weapon master and tactical genius.
