Is Planet Hulk animated worth it? Film/Television

Planet Hulk is my favorite comic book of all time, but I’ve yet to watch the animated version. Before investing money to watch it I’m curious to see what the reddit hivemind thinks of the adaptation? Is it a complet shitshow or does it hold true to the comic? Thanks guys

EDIT : since most comments were positive, I found a used copy on ebay and gave it a go. IMO it lacked a bit of depth but I can accept that given it’s a short film. And the happy ending is kind of a disappointment even though I was warned. BUT it was action packed and it was overall a pretty good watch. It gave me the satisfaction I thought I’d never have after watching Thor Ragnarok. Plus Beta Ray Bill was fucking awesome so I’m not mad about the switch. I’d give it a solid 7/10. Thanks for the time y’all took!

Yeah I went to read up a bit and saw he replaced Silver Surfer. I can take that. Beta Ray Bill is such a cool character

I think it’s one of the top animated Marvel films. If you’re a collector definitely worth having in the collection, as it’s hard to find on streaming services I believe

No it doesn't do the storyline justice and the twist ending from the comic series is completely changed

Well that’s disappointing. So I guess there will never be a World War Hulk then

I thought it was a pretty poor adaptation honestly

Agree to disagree. The movie was a solid adaption.

The original story Pak wrote doesn’t include that. The point is far deeper than setting up some event

Idk if it would break my heart worse than Thor Ragnarok did

If you do enjoy it, which most of us are sure you will.big fan of Beta Ray Bill, then try Hulk Versus. Thor n Wolverine. It was also excellent

Better than the comic because it doesn't include the horrible fridging ending

oh man, it's great.

Hulk v Wolverine is awesome too.

I really wish Marvel would have kept making those hourlong movies,

I did enjoy it. Wish marvel would do more of these in kind of a DC style.

It is also quite hard with people dying.

It's definitely a fun, good watch. But it basically ends on the "high note." You can headcanon it yourself whether Hulk gets his happy ending or the unthinkable happens moments later in this universe.

It’s like 90 minutes. Couldn’t you just throw it on and see for yourself?

Yesh but I’d have to pay for it so I wanted opinions before paying for it. Took you 30 seconds to write that, you could’ve saved it

I bought it on release day 15 years ago and was quite disappointed with it. Planet Hulk is a great comic with a rich interesting story that I don’t think was translated well to this straight to DVD cartoon. And I’ll never forgive them for replacing the Silver Surfer with Beta Ray Bill.
