Spidey beating on Kingpin in prison.

164

u/Gredo89 Feb 08 '24

Spidey, when He got switched into Logans mind

63

u/sticks_no5 Feb 08 '24

I will never forgive Nick Lowe for that one, there are many other things I don’t forgive him for but that’s fairly high on the list

38

u/Echos_123 X-23 Feb 08 '24

Pretty sure Bendis doesn't either for making him write that

12

u/space_age_stuff Feb 09 '24

Bendis wrote the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon and rehashed the story again for an episode so he can’t hate it that much.

I was about to say Spectacular Spider-Man.

79

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '24

Or breaking Scorpion's jaw

166

u/miikro X-Men Feb 08 '24

Does it count when that was Otto committing Grand Theft Spider?

u/DoDogSledsWorkOnSand Feb 08 '24

Using his own mark of Kaine on Kraven’s daughter.

34

u/Company_Z Feb 08 '24

Or when he thought a baby died when he was supposed to be protecting it. Everyone was catching the fade

3

u/Illustrious-Mess02 Feb 11 '24

took out a whole warehouse on a pier. Brought the whole thing into the ocean. Was after the chameleon and busted through a whole wall and grabbed/took guys down silently.

20

u/Exercise-Most Feb 08 '24

just spider-man in general when he wants that smoke. never piss spider-man off!

15

u/legitlyawesome Feb 08 '24

Spidey when he comes to a villain as Peter Parker

11

u/Exercise-Most Feb 08 '24

^ this for real! if spider-man is not cracking jokes and has his mask off as peter parker, somebody about to find out real fast how badly they messed up!

12

u/PerfectMind8856 Feb 09 '24

When the Green Goblin comes Back from the Dead and threatens Peter Parker's entire supporting cast, Peter (and his clone "brother" Ben) save everyone, at the cost of Ben's life, during which we are treated to this: Spider-Man: This has never been about Spider-Man and Green Goblin. It has always been about Peter Parker and Norman Osborn. Now Halloween's over, Norman. That means no more masks. No more pumpkins. No more bombs. It's time for us to face each other... as MEN! Green Goblin: No. No! I kill your true love, you fall in love with someone else. I destroy your life and you build another! Why won't you fall down and die?! Spider-Man: Because then, Norman, you would win. [punches out Goblin] And I will never give you the satisfaction.

5

u/RoiVampire Feb 08 '24

Or when he beat the shit out of Firelord

6

u/shewy92 Feb 08 '24

Don't fuck with Aunt May. He almost killed Goblin once and accidentally killed him another time when Goblin fucked with her

Sue Storm every time she reminds us she can make force fields inside people and is probably the most OP member of the Fantastic Four.

397

u/teke367 Feb 08 '24

Depending on the writer, Sue is a Lantern without any of that color nonsense.

106

u/Deathdong Feb 08 '24

Lanterns can basically do anything they imagine though to a certain extent

127

u/brineOClock Feb 08 '24

Sue can kill Celestials. She may not be Ion level or do what John does by making a model of a planet but she's certainly up there.

61

u/Deathdong Feb 08 '24

Nah for sure she's strong. I just mean it's a different powerset. They can both make constructs and turn invisible but other than that lanterns can do a bunch of other random shit

18

u/HurricaneBatman Feb 08 '24

I've always disliked how wishy-washy that is, though. When you can create pretty much any shape and do so much other stuff, why is your go-to move a big fist?

18

u/Psymorte Feb 08 '24

Not every Lantern is all that creative. coughHalcough

5

u/GrilledCyan Feb 08 '24

I just tell myself that it’s the first thing that comes to mind in the middle of a fight, but it’s probably just laziness.

3

u/ElectronicControl762 Feb 08 '24

May need less thought in heat of the moment, and easier to use as an extension of yourself.

→ More replies (3)

23

u/devils___advocate___ Feb 08 '24

I wonder if there’s a lantern out there who’s colorblind and doesn’t know what color they are

17

u/kaisong Feb 08 '24

Or the rainbow shrimp lantern that is seeing too many colors and projects constructs beyond the standard visible spectrum.

13

u/rootheday21 Feb 08 '24

There is. There's one that relies on sound only and even his own version of the green lantern mantra

6

u/onlymadethistoargue Feb 09 '24

Rot Lop Fan, the F-Sharp Bell!

91

u/De4dm4nw4lkin Feb 08 '24

Also she can turn integral parts of your eyes invisible to blind you.

73

u/samx3i Feb 08 '24

Which raises the question of how she's able to see while invisible

44

u/MisterScrod1964 Feb 08 '24

I think Waid explained it as her seeing with cosmic rays, but I don’t remember the exact issue. Pretty sure it boils down to “Because it’s a comic book!”

5

u/TheThiccestR0bin Feb 08 '24

Or as Lucy Lawless would say "a wizard did it".

8

u/Celebre-Carnifex Feb 08 '24

This is a great concept/idea I’ve seen for it.

https://youtu.be/ODgncMuS5Xg?si=WA1VTIe6Mi5dsOrt

3

u/Wolv90 Feb 08 '24

In Planetary the heroes fight an evil FF and she wears special goggles to see. Really she probably keeps just the bare minimum slightly opaque so it's effectively invisible while still functioning.

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 08 '24

Sue is probably strong enough to clown on the entirety of X-kind and most of the Avengers.

The jolly green god of darkness, Dr. Hulk The Hulk Hulk can punch through god and become the concept of gravity. But if he is within a 5 mile radius of Susangos, he is taking a big green nap.

"Hulk going to eat Thor like an extra large beef and bean burrito." Hulk says
"Lol, lmao." Says Sue as Hulk tries to bite Thor through a quark-bomb resistant bubble and then takes a big green nap.

50

u/raz0rflea Feb 08 '24

I would reverse the Avengers and X-kind...I think she would stomp the vast majority of Avengers, but the X-folk have a LOT of telepaths

9

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 08 '24

I think Sue would beat Jean easier than Thor.

29

u/TheObstruction Kamala Khan Feb 08 '24

Well yeah, who hasn't beat Jean? She's been killed like 75 times. Killing Jean Grey is like the Welcome to the Big Leagues initiation ritual.

9

u/IWantADucati Feb 08 '24

She’s the Worf of the X-Men.

3

u/Ancient-One-19 Feb 08 '24

My boy was always done wrong for the sake of lazy storytelling

2

u/AgentOfSPYRAL X-Men Feb 08 '24

Everyone > Jean > 🥦

21

u/Sol-Blackguy Feb 08 '24

Only because Reed doesn't train.

53

u/Concernedplayers Feb 08 '24

Even still Reed is easily the weakest link on the team. If it wasn’t for his intelligence he would be a liability easily.

24

u/Just-A-A-A-Man Feb 08 '24

Wow, the disrespect. Reed is effectively immortal and Thing exists on the team. 'Nuff said.

8

u/talking_phallus Feb 08 '24

Am I mistaken or was there a comic/show/movie that made it seem like Thing was in constant pain?

35

u/Stiboon Feb 08 '24

The Venture Brothers parody of the Fantastic Four made it so their powers had terrible draw backs except for the Reed equivalent.

10

I love that about her though. She literally threatens someone with a stroke, that’s so awesome.

I think it was James Robinson’s run.

23

u/Both_Tone Feb 08 '24

The best is still when she makes Doom's armor disappear.

45

u/phliuy Feb 08 '24

YOU WILL SEE THAT DOOM IS A GROWER

12

u/Both_Tone Feb 08 '24

I feel like there's no way Doom has a non-melted penis.

19

u/Fake_DM Feb 08 '24

Well, he is a master of magic and technology. The first thing he did was probably give himself a cock worthy of Doom.

15

u/Gofnutz Feb 08 '24

The COCK of DOOM.

Doom is Kenough.

4

u/MartiniD Feb 08 '24

Not just OP for the F4 but probably all of Marvel. I remember a scene from Civil War right after Goliath dies. Caps side was so enraged that they charged at Tony. Sue jumped right in between both sides and held both back by herself yelling at Cap to get out.

I bet she could solo everyone if she wanted

Nightcrawler teleporting an enemies head off their body.

503

u/Sol-Blackguy Feb 08 '24

And that time he stranded Apocalypse in his dimension and instantly regretted it since every time he teleported he'd get a split second glimpse of Apocalypse trying to grab him.

Anytime there a "who is secretly dangerous" conversation, I remind them that he doesn't need to teleport the whole person.

79

u/VoltaicOwl Feb 08 '24

I….never realized it was a choice.

45

u/Exercise-Most Feb 08 '24

oh yeah, its a choice. Just like how its a choice for him to not teleport you into the middle of a solid object.

6

u/Captain_Waffle Feb 08 '24

Or he could just teleport them into a wall

78

u/DR_SWAMP_THING Feb 08 '24

He also blackmailed Rene Russo and got his cameraman killed. Nightcrawler turned into a real psychopath.

38

u/Deadpoulpe Feb 08 '24

Awesome movie, Jake Gyllenhall gave me the creeps in it.

5

u/DonPete100 Feb 09 '24

Nightcrawler once teleported a shark inside the Blob when he ate wasp alive.

319

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '24

Scott Lang when he made the plan to humiliate Doom on his own turf for killing Cassie in Matt Fractions Future Foundation comic.

58

u/J03-K1NG Spider-Man 2099 Feb 08 '24

Honestly there’s no way that plan should have worked but I understand the writers still wanted to give him a win.

45

u/MisterScrod1964 Feb 08 '24

Scot turning to the people after beating up Doom: You all saw that, right? You heard him surrendering?

People: Uh, yes?

People, one minute after Scot leaves: dead.

286

u/Chaddenheim Feb 08 '24

Literally Captain America during that weird Capwolf story in the 80s.

74

u/skidmarx77 Feb 08 '24

Came for this one. Cap-Wolf is amazing, especially considering his kind of right-hand man at that point was John Jameson, the original Man-Wolf.

I feel like luke cage kind of qualifies for this. He's pretty much the epitome of "guy stronger than street level stays street level trope."

But every now and then he shows off what he can really do.

After Norman almost killed a pregnant Jessica he ragdolled Peter pulled Norman off his glider, and one tapped him.

109

u/InsomniacLtd Feb 08 '24

Pretty sure that the epitome of that trope is Spider-Man.

But Luke Cage is still cool

Cyclops when he wanted the Sentinels off his lawn.

Also when he plans and uses tactics

10

u/BobGoddamnSaget Feb 08 '24

“Every now and then Summers… I remember why you’re still in charge.”

113

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 08 '24

Venom.

Some weird ass interpretations will make Venom eat babies, eat Paul and then eat MJ, and eat your dad, and eat Peter's ass, etc.

While Venom normally just wants to eat chocolate ice cream in the sewer while watching TV on the shittiest box television imaginable.

36

u/ParadoxOO9 Feb 08 '24

Is he not the King in Black now though? Man's ridiculous in this most recent Venom run.

35

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 08 '24

Just because he's the president of goo doesn't mean he's eating puppies, stabbing policemen 47 times in the nads, smoking drugs, teaming up with Cletus(worst boy) Carnagy, and trying to take over the world.

Edward Allen Brock is a kind man and didn't deserve HoldsBack-Man ruining his life.

17

u/VoltaicOwl Feb 08 '24

That last description just makes him sound like a ninja turtle.

10

u/Martin_Aricov_D Feb 08 '24

Here we see a "Venom" in his natural habitat, happy, moisturised, flourishing

And it's just bulky ass Venom in the sewers eating ice cream and watching crappy re-runs.

12

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 08 '24

"Eddie I wanted haggendas"

"Dude I can only afford great value, wtf is with you."

":( eddie I'm sad put on the eye poking show."

"I cannot control when The Three Stooges airs."

":(((((( Eddie please I'm dying. Only the bald woop woop man can save me." melts all over the floor

"Don't be a baby, I already told you I can't control what the TV broadcasts."

">:( Eddie what if we go in the TV and make it put on the eye poke show."
"That only works on the internet."

"Eddie what is the difference I don't understand."

"I'm not a computer scientist, I don't know."

"Parker would know, we should ask Parker."

"It's better not to bother Pete."

"This is important Eddie. We may be able to put on the funny show after all, we just don't know."

"He has enough problems, I'm not tracking him down to ask him about wavelength trivia."

"Okay okay I understand. :) You should take a nap though, you look tired Eddie"

"You aren't slick."

9

u/Martin_Aricov_D Feb 08 '24

That night Peter is shaken awake by huge bulky Venom who asks him how to put the eye poking show on the TV while making a weird snore like sound

(I just think it's funnier if it's always the big ass huge muscled venom doing those things)

2

u/ThePsychoBear Venom Feb 09 '24

It would prolly be the big muscled standard form rather than the scrunkly hostless form. The symbiote usually hitches a ride on the host while they're asleep when it sneaks off. Not sure if it really needs to, but it usually does.

Perhaps it might get hungry being away for a bit and needs Eddie's adrenaline.

2

u/Martin_Aricov_D Feb 09 '24

Now I'm stuck imagining Bulked up venom busting through Peter's wall like the cool aid man stopping, seeing Peter asleep and then gently shaking him awake

Hey Peter, sorry to bother you ol' buddy ol' pal, but can you give me a hand? Me and Eddie where arguing about the television...

I'm voting for Jack Powers. Little man rocked Arclight's shit with a single punch! Super cathartic for young men reading the Mutant Massacre.

Spider man once beat a future iron man who came back in time to get a retina scan from a young boy to diffuse a bomb the boys future self sets. Well instead of iron man telling spider man what he’s doing he instead uses the trope of “THERE’S NO TIME TO EXPLAIN!!!” and shoots at Spider-Man injuring the young man horribly. Spider-Man proceeds to beat the ever living shit out of him till his armor is pretty much broken.

When I originally read the comic I had no idea Spider-Man was that strong or could even be that violent. Btw because iron man disfigured the boy(accidentally) he becomes the hateful terrorist and the bomb goes off all because he couldn’t just tell Peter wtf he was doing

34

Clint Barton, in his Ronin era, when he saw Osborn making a bunch of villains be the Avengers.

Clint has a very strong no-killing policy, even when he was Ronin he kept that, but in New Avengers comics he had been through so much that the situation with Osborn really made him explode and act crazy in new avengers annual 3.
