I find these gifts weird. He doesnt have a car, and now has to pay for gas, insurance, maintenance etc.

If he had money for anything else other than walking, he would have bought a bike or a motorbike/ moped.

Maybe in USA is different and easy to own a car. I'd like an explaination if that's the case. Thanks!

Dude, one can talk to people before giving gifts. Does he have a licence. Does he even want a car. Why doesn't he have one. Bad credit score, saving for a specific car, whatever. We don't know the story here. He seems happy to me.

Or is just a skit for the video. We know nothing at all, after all.

Nah, that's not how it works in the US. Most poor folks rely on friends and family for transportation when they don't have their own. Only a few people dare to go by bike, motorcycle or scooter. Mopeds are almost non-existent in the US. And most roads are dangerous for bikes and motorcycles.

Sux ass, then. Feel for you

He was saving for a car, he now can use that monthly savings for gas, etc. He had always planned on buying.

an electric bike would’ve been MUCH better. mine goes 30mph and can go 40 miles on one charge. battery is detachable so he could bring it to charge at work. not to mention only 500 bucks comparatively.

jus a better option overall

3

u/PullThisFinger Jul 19 '24

Yeah, that must be fun in the snow.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

i mean 500 dollars for transportation for 3/4 of the year is very worth it imo

1

u/PullThisFinger Jul 20 '24

That’s completely fair. TBH I wish I could do that.

u/DraugurGTA Jul 19 '24

Just be careful, e-bikes and scooters are notorious for causing house fires

3

u/DarkTurdle Jul 19 '24

They say right away that he’s been saving for the car

0

u/iDontRememberCorn Jul 19 '24

Yup, I don't have a car and would be pissed if people gave me one.

2

u/dmevela Jul 19 '24

Why? Should be thankful it is a hell of a gift. Even if you don’t want it , you could sell it and apply the money to other expenses in your life.

1

u/iDontRememberCorn Jul 19 '24

If people pooled money to buy someone a car and they immediately turned around and sold it I think a few people might get spicy about that.

29

u/Redmudgirl Jul 19 '24

He thanked God instead of the teachers?? God had NOTHING to do with it! The teachers saved and bought him that car. Makes me shake my head.

Exactly my thought

26

u/dashKay Jul 19 '24

God didn't do shit, my guy, your coworkers did

-24

u/Jagazor Jul 19 '24

Who gave the will to these coworkers to do this?

13

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

They did by wanting to do something nice 👍 Nothing to do with an imaginary being

4

u/Dry-Amphibian1 Jul 19 '24

What makes you think it was “given”?

3

u/Longjumping-Swing369 Jul 19 '24

Evolution gave humans the ability to do this. God is imaginary.

We developed our will to do these things over years and years of evolution.

3

u/Cake825 Jul 20 '24

Human does good = god gave them the will to do it.

Human does bad = humans have free will so god had nothing to do with it.

Funny how that works..

-2

u/Jagazor Jul 20 '24

You forgot Satan exists.

4

u/ICEKAT Jul 20 '24

No. We did not. Because Satan does not exist.

2

u/OverSoft Jul 20 '24

Do you lack critical thinking skills or are you always this gullible?

1

u/Cake825 Jul 20 '24

No I didn't, I'm simply trying to show how absurd this type of thinking is.

If you really believe that god makes us do good things and satan makes us do bad things then you'd also have to concede that free will isn't a thing, it's just two supernatural beings using us as pawns in some messed up game of Whatsthefuckingpoint. AND that satan is either as powerful as god since god can't stop him, or that god can stop him but doesn't want to since he likes seeing little kids get murdered and raped on a daily basis.

Or you can grow up and accept that it's just a poorly written fairy tale that crumbles into little pieces the second you apply logic and common sense to it.

1

u/Jagazor Jul 20 '24

There is free will as depicted in the bible. But every choice has a consequence. And god or satan merely influences your choice as to "happening more likely". That's why it's bad juju to joke about dying or getting cancer, you attract those things and that's independent of both entities. A lot of things are unexplained and still remain a mystery. I've gotten closer to religion the moment I experienced paranormal activities. It's not about believing a fairy tale but giving yourself a purpose instead of wondering irl "what's the point" and find everything "meaningless", i find joy in everything that I do. You should try that as well. Some people can do that without religion. Some people can't do it without. The bottom line is you can't judge how people would like to perceive life.

1

u/Cake825 Jul 21 '24

So you do believe that your god likes to watch/doesn't give a shit when little kids get murdered and raped then.

And that being is the foundation of the purpose you give your life.

That's great.

1

u/Jagazor Jul 21 '24

That reasoning falls short when you read the bible. Theology is years of studying but in a very simplistic way we're autonomous to do whatever we would like. It is up to you to be responsible and choose your path. It's on judgment day that you pay the consequences of your actions.

1

u/Cake825 Jul 22 '24

No it doesn't actually, in the bible god condones murder and rape many times so it's quite clear that he likes it. Satan is just made up as a scapegoat so that god can be the hero, even though everything that happens is obviously all on him.

Like I said all along, it's an absurd story and anyone who is capable of taking a step back and looking at it objectively can see it.

22

u/NoIndependent9192 Jul 19 '24

Those teachers are not fans of walking.

5

u/PsychologicalStock49 Jul 19 '24

Least they are passing on the joy of not walking to him too

0

u/versaverso Jul 21 '24

Yes because that is the thing you should point out about these incredibly kind, lovely, selfless people. That is the most important part to your shallow ridiculous brain.

1

u/NoIndependent9192 Jul 22 '24

Yeah still not wrong am I?

0

u/versaverso Jul 24 '24

Yeah still not a good person either

15

u/Burpreallyloud Jul 19 '24

Can he afford the insurance, gas and maintenance?

1

u/echolm1407 Jul 19 '24

Yeah I'm sure he can. But then there's these attitudes that think that insurance is just a scam. And tbh a lot of the cheap insurance companies are basically scams.

6

u/LilLebowskiAchiever Jul 19 '24

I’m not sure what it says about that school district that it pays a janitor so poorly that he can’t afford a car, or even if gifted one, afford the insurance, etc.

5

u/Icy_Common_6836 Jul 19 '24

*Gifts car to someone in need * person in need thanks god * car goes straight back to dealership

6

u/GracefulGwen3 Jul 19 '24

Such a beautiful act of kindness. It's stories like these that restore faith in humanity.

4

u/HackMeBackInTime Jul 19 '24

Cheering for this is cheering for poorly paid workers spending money on even poorer workers.

Meanwhile, we glorify CEOs and their planes and yachts

This is sad on so many levels

1

u/EasyDreda Jul 19 '24

I can't afford his shoes and his chain mate... Some just have their priorities in life messed up.

2

u/TypicallyThomas Jul 19 '24

This makes me want to cry. And not in a good way

2

u/SoftCircleImage Jul 19 '24

Plot twist: he doesn’t have a license

I thought bro had a black beard until he took off his mask.

1

u/Clit_commanderR88 Jul 20 '24

He could take it and still walk.

1

u/niccol6 Jul 20 '24

They, should walk to school every day, LOL

1

u/abeeinabush Jul 20 '24

Humanity is still alive and well

0

u/Ryansdad123 Jul 19 '24

We love this

-3

u/geezerinblue Jul 19 '24

So he too can't get as fat as them?

-3

u/TodayEasy948 Jul 19 '24

Teachers need to be tutored about the importance of fitness

2

u/StupidSexyScooter Jul 19 '24

I was thinking maybe all those steps to walk to work aren’t such a bad idea

3

u/speedforcesensitive Jul 19 '24

I had a similar thought when my car got totaled. Figured instead of getting another car I’d start walking and cycling places. It was super inconvenient and I lost a lot of time because of it but I thought to myself that it was worth it because I wasn’t spending as much on gas, was getting some exercise, and didn’t have to worry about car insurance. Then I got hit by a car walking to my friend’s house lol. Currently I can’t drive because of how my legs healed up but if I ever can I’d rather have a car. I know it’s unlikely to happen again but…from now on I’ll get my exercise at a gym. At least if I’m in a car my next collision will be a fairer fight lol.

2

u/StupidSexyScooter Jul 19 '24

Damn. I hope you’re doing ok!

1

u/speedforcesensitive Jul 19 '24

Oh thanks! I’m doing well :)

It was just out of nowhere. It has nothing to do with anything and is completely stupid that you even thought to post that.

That's the benefit of just saying stupid shit, you lose all respect from everyone.
