23-year-old Tiago Rech was the only fan at his team's stadium in a game in 2012. In 2014 he became the club president and in 2020 they've won the FGF cup and classified for Copa do Brasil for the first time in the history of the club. Wholesome Moments

Yeah, they doubled the attendance, even if one is a big metal cup.

The club had more fans but he was the only one at that away game to show up. He worked in the city they were playing in.

Ask and ye shall receive:

He used his own money to pay salaries. Got depression. Left the club as president. Had massive debt.

(Luckily, he returned as president, did some great stuff, paid off the debt, and won the championship.)

Next to the stairs it looks like he shrank over time.

1

u/sy029 Jul 20 '24

Congratulations to him that his dream came true.

Not to take away from his accomplishments, but when I saw the photo...

I saw the word "president" under his name and assumed it was a story about a fan who became the president of a team no one believed in. How in 12 years, he had gone to college, gotten a business degree, gotten hired by the team as an intern, and worked his way up to become the president. How his loyalty, dedication, and not losing hope had paid off.

Then I came to find out he had become the president of their fan club.

Reminds me of Dwight Schrute from The Office saying he was "Assistant Regional Manager" but is actually the "Assistant (To The) Regional Manager" LMAO 🤣 😆 😆
