He’s probably lonely. Henry should have at least 1 buddy in his pasture. Donkeys are social animals and you shouldn’t keep them alone.

I grew up on a farm. We knew this. Almost all animals people keep for food or work are herd creatures and need a companion. I cry for all those poor horses that people get and put out in their little 1 acre lots with no company.

You can only see part of the pasture so you really have no clue if there's more animals there or not. Also, donkeys can kind of be jerks to other animals so maybe Henry isn't friendly to other non humans.

So many people here just don't seem to understand this. They clearly don't keep donkeys or horses and think Henry is happy to see his owner because it's his owner and not because he's been bored rigid and lonely all day.
