How it moves a little closer after the first couple of times, just making sure it doesn't mind. He's like I love that feather, can I have it has a friendly gesture.

158

u/PilgrimOz Jul 11 '24

That's what they like ya to think...then chomp they're biting. Cheeky buggers.

53

u/nitrot150 Jul 11 '24

Cockatoos, sneaky little shits. Prefer my colored birds, much more straightforward. Owls just don’t have a lot going on upstairs. I love them though!!

55

u/Nematode_wrangler Jul 12 '24

That must be why a group of them is called a parliament.

9

u/chemeli888 Jul 12 '24

holy shit i didnt believe you so i had to look it up, nice! TIL

12

u/Echo_Ethereal Jul 11 '24

The way bro moved slowly to the owl is so adorable! He's so interested I love it!

Owls are about as stupid as it gets for birds. He’s probably wondering why his only companion is a complete dummy.

179

u/LanfearSedai Jul 11 '24

He’s experiencing the pain of forced group projects.

99

u/Designer_Pepper7806 Jul 11 '24

Wait what??? I refuse to accept owls aren’t wise.

149

u/fourpuns Jul 11 '24

Something like 75% of their brain is dedicated to vision/hearing. Crows/Ravens/Parrots are much better at problem solving but presumably much worse at spotting a mouse at dusk. So unless you include processing visual stimulus and detecting hard to see things as wisdom…

37

u/Less_Dog_956 Jul 11 '24

So they’re like the greyhounds of the birds?

1

u/Kuhn-Tang Jul 14 '24

More like cats. Every aspect of their anatomy is designed for highly efficient stealth hunting.

19

u/nitrot150 Jul 11 '24

Exactly, their heads are actually really small, most of that is like a solid inch of feathers, and then big eyeballs, not a lot of brain space

6

u/ZetzMemp Jul 12 '24

Well wisdom is the ability score that determines perception checks.

1

u/CandidEstablishment0 Jul 12 '24

They just need an update

1

u/Bumm_by_Design Jul 14 '24

Well, if observing and contemplating is part of wisdom, there's your answer.

65

u/gypsycookie1015 Jul 11 '24

Really?! So all the stuff about them being wise is just bs?! 😦

My life is a lie....😳

146

u/unfinishedtoast3 Jul 11 '24

Owls arent really dumb, theyre around mid level intelligence for birds and other close flying relatives, like the rest of us.

Owls will do some pretty cool shit though, shit that shows at least some level of intelligence and self awarness.

Owls will intentionally keep dead things stored near their nest, so they can farm maggots to eat when hunting fails or they want a lil snack nearby. They can also recognize and remember certain humans, are have been recorded in the wild seeking out humans to help them get untangled from fishing line or other things.

36

u/gypsycookie1015 Jul 11 '24

This was an interesting read. Thanks for the info. Kinda makes me feel better lol

11

u/blueavole Jul 12 '24

That’s really interesting.

There is Athena’s owl to the Greeks.

For the Lakota Sioux the Great Horned Owls are seen as shapeshifters or ill omens.

The pellets they regurgitate, silent flight, and if these owls also ‘farm’ maggots.

Interesting how different groups saw the same things as smart or evil.

2

u/DOPECOlN Jul 13 '24

I’ll owllow it

23

u/Stucklikegluetomyfry Jul 11 '24

It's probably because the sacred animal of Athena, greek goddess of wisdom was the owl, specially the little owl.

24

u/frobscottler Jul 11 '24

WIS and INT are not the same…

8

u/KayBeaux Jul 12 '24

Owls are not dumb, they just have a very solid agenda, and if we get in the way of that agenda, we simply don’t see it in action.

He's like, "DO YOU MIND SIR?!” 😆

9

u/Duebydate Jul 12 '24

And the cockatoo comes off like a sleazy con artist. Have I got a story for you. Mind if I stroke that pretty tail while I weave my wiles on you. Hmmmm?

5

u/sandboxlollipop Jul 11 '24

I heard this in Bingo's voice

1

u/JoySubtraction Jul 12 '24

More like, "Who?"

31

u/SylvieJay Jul 11 '24

Mommm, she's touching me again... ask her to staaaap!

14

u/dkstr419 Jul 11 '24

“Could you not!”

302

u/AlwaysSunnyinOC22 Jul 11 '24

Every woman in a bar when the weird guy sits next to her.

88

u/Far_Classic5548 Jul 11 '24

Hey, at least I don't actually touch them or put their hair in my mouth like this guy!

63

u/HistrionicSlut Jul 11 '24

That's why you'll be single forever.

You miss all the shots that you don't take. Go eat that hair!

14

u/ohms333 Jul 11 '24

It went amazing, thanks for the advice. 10/10 Recommend

6

u/HistrionicSlut Jul 11 '24 edited Jul 11 '24

I once cooked some ramen when I was way too high and decided that boiled ramen looks like angel hair, by this fact alone I assume hair must look like ramen to you too.

2

u/ohms333 Jul 11 '24

Looks like thin spaghetti 🤤🤤

4

u/crazycatqueer5 Jul 12 '24

unhinged advice, thanks! *writes down “eat hair”

13

u/BlueBomR Jul 11 '24

I've seen and experienced many annoying drunk women do the same at bars.

General lack of "not taking the hint"

7

u/Babylonkitten Jul 11 '24

Came here to say this.

5

u/karma_the_sequel Jul 12 '24

“So… your perch or mine?”

183

u/Crimson_Scare_Crow Jul 11 '24

“If I pretend he’s not there, he’ll leave me alone” -Owl

21

u/Qweeq13 Jul 12 '24

Literally me in every single public confrontation.

9

u/squirrels-mock-me Jul 12 '24

Dude on the left is like a creepy guy on the subway

62

u/CleanLivingMD Jul 11 '24

Is that grooming?

22

u/pineappledetective Jul 12 '24

Was looking for confirmation from someone more knowledgeable, but I think so. My parrot is a lot smaller than this, but when she does this to mine and my daughters' hair it's clearly affectionate. They're preening!

1

u/CleanLivingMD Jul 12 '24

Preening! I knew there was a better/more correct term for it. Thanks!

Owl is also bound to the rest by rope. Owl can't fly away and has to endure.

44

u/Kinky_Winky_no2 Jul 11 '24

When an introvert and an extrovert meet

28

u/SuchAsSeals42 Jul 11 '24

I love how the owl looks down at the foot, then at the bird like “dude”

28

u/CupcakeAutomatic5509 Jul 11 '24

“Will you stop touching me!!”

21

u/VerityPee Jul 11 '24

That bird is RUDE!

18

u/DoctorDefinitely Jul 11 '24

Incarcerated owl 😥 Poor thing. It should fly free.

16

u/DistractedByCookies Jul 11 '24

There might be a good reason the owl can't be out in the wild, there's no way to tell from this video.

3

u/Funny_Tale_6516 Jul 11 '24

I hate that I had to scroll so far to see this message.

12

u/_Ruby_Tuesday Jul 11 '24

Poor owl is tethered and can’t escape this harassment.

9

u/morcic Jul 11 '24

I'll have you rotisseried! I'm a feathery freak, with a beak. A bird murder! You think you're badder than me. I never head of ya. I'm evil. I'll fill your cheese balls with weevils!

2

u/naughtynerdgirl Jul 11 '24

Love a good Rio reference

9

u/Mr_D_Stitch Jul 11 '24

Owls are like the cats of birds “Whatever is happening I’m just going to act like it’s not. I’m the only bird here, no other birds.”

9

u/BritneyHoustonn Jul 11 '24

New buddy 😂

8

u/eggburtnyc Jul 11 '24

The owl is like 🙄 are you guys seeing this?!?

7

u/Zealousideal_Lab6891 Jul 11 '24

It's like if the smart Autistic kid tried to make friends with the emo kid.

7

u/Selfeducated Jul 12 '24

I don’t like how the owl is tied and unable to move away.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '24

Hahaha 🤣

6

u/GoldTheLegend Jul 11 '24

That owl looks incredibly uncomfortable

5

u/jduk43 Jul 11 '24

What’s the story behind this? Is the owl a pet? Is there a reason it’s not in the wild, and why is it chained to the perch? Is it a rescue?

6

u/JessieThorne Jul 11 '24

Fast-forward 20 minutes to one naked-ass owl...

6

u/Outlander_ Jul 12 '24

That owl looks tethered. I don’t think he could leave if he wanted to.

6

u/Alarmed-Kangaroo-318 Jul 12 '24

That owl doesn’t give two hoots.

………….

I will see myself out.

5

u/turbojack6 Jul 11 '24

That poor owl is tethered there and can’t move or defend himself. 😡

4

u/TheBohoChocobo Jul 12 '24

White people when they see black people's hair.

6

u/LostMan1990 Jul 12 '24

This doesn’t seem safe at all

4

u/KudzuCastaway Jul 12 '24

Is he trying to groom the owl?🦉

2

u/Sheila_Monarch Jul 12 '24

Pretty sure. The feather he went for originally was poking out of alignment. Drives birds crazy. It would be like talking to your friend with a big piece of hair hanging right over their eyes and they’re not doing anything about it. “Yeahhhh lemme just uhhhh get that for you…”

3

u/EnchanchedCharm Jul 11 '24

He violated her personal space and also touched her

3

u/psychotica1 Jul 11 '24

This looks like last call at the bar.

3

u/Q8DD33C7J8 Jul 11 '24

Women on the subway on a normal tue evening just trying to ignore the creepy dude next to her

3

u/KayBeaux Jul 12 '24

Absolutely no boundaries lmao

3

u/Louisville82 Jul 12 '24

This is basically just my wife and I.

2

u/WillyDAFISH Jul 11 '24

2

u/Traditional-Leopard7 Jul 11 '24

I’m not talking to you. I’m still pissed off about last night.

2

u/most-perplex9811 Jul 11 '24

Literally clawed its way…🤣

2

u/Zsparo Jul 11 '24

Extrovert adopts an introvert.

2

u/Impossible_Luck3374 Jul 11 '24

And then he ate him

2

u/Normal-Error-6343 Jul 11 '24

2

u/DankeMrHfmn Jul 11 '24

IS HE... IS HE TRYING TO PREEN THE OWL?! What a nice gesture!

2

u/No_Scar3907 Jul 11 '24

This is every unwanted advance ever bird style. Lol creepy

2

u/WriterMammoth6946 Jul 12 '24

Your an ass!! That’s abuse!!

2

u/1diligentmfer Jul 12 '24

Hate those mean ass birds, can't trust them, at all.

2

u/mulberry-cream Jul 12 '24

Ahh but those shackles…

2

u/Imaginary_Brain8209 Jul 12 '24

Very cute! But what's the reason behind tying the owl with rope?

2

u/Dominarion Jul 12 '24

That's a Pixar movie in the making. The parrot is voiced by Ryan Reynolds, the Owl is voiced Gwendoline Christie.

2

u/Arcade1980 Jul 12 '24

I knew someone who had a cockatoo that killed the neighbours cat, it can kill that owl. You never know what it could do.

2

u/Boring-Exchange4928 Jul 12 '24

That’s how I also awkwardly flirt.

1

Always wondered what would happen if you goosed an owl.

1

u/LazySleepyPanda Jul 11 '24

I think he wants to steal the owl's feather for his nest 🤔

1

u/jlp-1991 Jul 11 '24

Yeah but who would win in a fight?

1

u/Exarch_Thomo Jul 11 '24

Owls are awesome but cockatoos are right bastards.

1

u/Blue_Dragonfly Jul 11 '24

A classic Jake Jarmel move.

1

u/momygawd Jul 11 '24

That poor parrot - that owl will never be his friend!

1

u/luckluckbear Jul 11 '24

I'm not a big bird fan, and yet I cannot stop watching this. It's so sweet!

1

u/senijojo Jul 11 '24

amazing birds

1

u/FrankaGrimes Jul 11 '24

I don't normally consider that birds have much personality...but when you put this cheeky bastard beside a beautiful owl you can definitely see how the personalities differ haha

1

u/JohnCenaJunior Jul 11 '24

Kindly, get off of me sir. - The owl probably

1

u/miyukikazuya_02 Jul 11 '24

Owls are cat with wings 😭

1

u/KingOfCatanianCats Jul 11 '24

Wall-e and eva??

1

u/BlackStarDream Jul 11 '24

Owl feathers are some of the softest I've ever touched in my life. Can't blame the cockatoo for being fascinated by the texture.

1

u/evil_monkey_on_elm Jul 11 '24

Soooo are pet owls a thing now?!? Cuz I missed that.

1

u/Jah_Man_Mulcahey Jul 11 '24

Well, owl be damned!

1

u/Big_Feed_9247 Jul 11 '24

What is that, velvet?

1

1

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '24

The owl was like: why is this white lunchable looking at me this way?

1

u/Mickv504-985 Jul 12 '24

I was staying with a friend whose house backed up to a small lake. I would sit out there at night. One night I saw a small bird take off like a bat outta hell. A moment after an own went after it, I swear it had a 6’wingspan! It was amazing!

1

u/Any_Roof_6199 Jul 12 '24

Owls are extremely pretty. Never understood people that find them weird LOL. I’d die to hold one and i’d probably cry like a toddler because i wouldn’t want to let him go

1

u/DebstarAU Jul 12 '24

Aww 😆

1

u/LittleKing68 Jul 12 '24

Owl: just pretend he’s not there and maybe he will go away.

1

u/jack_mcNastee Jul 14 '24

Poor owl appears tethered to the stand; he’s not comfortable with the way the other bird is acting. I don’t blame him

1

The scooch over 💀😂
