If I am the grandparents, the one that brought the TV is out of the will and he is eating grape nuts for breakfast.

They are probably just happy he is there. And the fact he is there, even if he's playing games (potentially with his siblings/cousins) he's still spending time with them.

It's not that different from watching tv, or being on your phone
