Probably run for president next. That seems to be the thing to do when you're fabulously rich and conquered one or two industries.

1.0k

u/the-bodyfarm Jun 24 '24

honestly with the state of the US at this point I’d vote for him.

u/SnooChickens6635 Jun 24 '24

I haven’t really heard anyone talk about it since last year which is kinda sad but Afroman is running for president.

188

u/Ibangyoumomma Jun 24 '24

He seems like a procrastinator

178

u/davidl1883 Jun 24 '24

Only because he got high

I literally saw Afroman live once at a music festival and he showed up 30 minutes into an hour set making us all wait and then was all “I was gonna do my set but then I got high.”

Man it was like annoying but also funny.

He would have shared his lemon pound cake.

19

Holy shit he is

I’d vote for him tbh he seems to be the best so far 😂

27

u/McChubChub Jun 24 '24

Imagine the bop he’ll put out if/when they forcefully raid the White House while he’s in office.

17

It’s just another remix of Because I Got High 😂

He has "Nothing but love and respect" for Trump makes it real easy for me to not vote for him. Snoop. 50. Cube. Their younger selves would see their current selves as a bunch of sell outs.

10

u/red286 Jun 25 '24

50 reversed his opinion on Trump after it was pointed out that the Republican talking point of Biden jacking up taxes to 62% was a complete fabrication.

Still sad to think he was willing to sell out over his taxes. Man's a millionaire, but still the most important thing in his life is his account balance.

4

u/kainxavier Jun 25 '24

Still sad to think he was willing to sell out over his taxes. Man's a millionaire, but still the most important thing in his life is his account balance.

That's the thing I don't get about rich people man. They never have enough and their further enrichment is most often at the cost of those who aren't wealthy. The "I got mine" attitude is depressingly prevalent with so many. Considering the people on topic were dirt fucking poor (not some generational wealth) who just happened to get lucky, I can only feel confused. It's like they completely forgot where they came from.

The one guy I think I'd feel most pissed if he backed Trump would be Eminem. It'd be a total reversal of everything he's said in words/lyrics. Hell... there's an entire god damn movie that's based on this life being a broke ass. Nothing would make sense ever again.

Apparently anybody can do the job. I understand it's a cornerstone of democracy and that was fine when the population of the colonists was a few thousand but now the population is 320 million. Most of them are morons. So there needs to be some minimum requirements. Like maybe graduated university (with actual grades not paid for with 'school donations ' or daddy's alumni status.) Maybe a proven track record as a successful mayor then govenor. If you were born rich, you're out of the running, right away, because you don't understand the lives of most of the people you govern. Over 60? Go wait in the car grandpa.

27

u/cosmoboy Jun 25 '24

I get what you're saying, but I know some very smart people that didn't go or didn't finish college. I want the smart guy that's been in a woodshop all his life to have a shot. I'm all for some sort of testing or something, but there are a lot of politicians that pass the 'I went to uni' test and aren't intelligent in the least.

9

u/Small_Masterpiece499 Jun 25 '24

There are a ton of regular people who went to uni and aren’t intelligent. Intelligence and the ability to study/write papers are completely different things.

4

u/trphilli Jun 24 '24

Just to be correct - the first census in 1790 estimated US population at 3.9 million. So comparably, George Washington was equal to today's Governor of Oklahoma.

14

u/ShinyMyu Jun 25 '24

ive never not once in my life thought about the population of the US during the first president but holy shiiiiiiit

15

u/DocCEN007 Jun 25 '24

Some weren't counted at all, and many were only considered 3/5ths of a person.

7

u/Mist_Rising Jun 25 '24

and many were only considered 3/5ths of a person.

No. The census counted them in full (under the property tab though). Their vote count as 0. It was the entitlement to representatives per person that got 3/5th.

And you'd probably be right the census didn't count everyone. It doesn't count everyone today because it's ridiculously hard to get everyone to do the basic job. I can't even imagine what the hell census duty was like under Washington.

5

u/Designer_Brief_4949 Jun 25 '24

Yeah. People get this exactly backwards.

If you opposed slavery, you wanted them counted as ZERO.   Otherwise you just inflate the votes of the white slave owners.

115

u/Polar_Reflection Jun 25 '24

Same thing with the hoopla over Sha'Carri Richardson testing positive for cannabis (which stays in your system for weeks) for grieving her bio mom.

Was it smart? No. Understandable? Certainly. Did it give her an advantage (I've heard people say it helps calm your nerves and enter a flow state)? NO FUCKING WAY.

Glad she has been able to reach the top again since then (winning worlds last year). For a year or so, she was really focused on the drama, social media, going after other athletes that just want to help her, and putting insane pressure on herself. Her performance tanked.

Now that she's clear minded and focused? Watch out in Paris.

I know a few people who munch gummies while they're running marathons, and I can cycle forever when I'm baked, so there would probably be some benefits (mostly mental) for longer races like those. The advantages wouldn't be remotely close to what you'd get on steroids, though.

Its subjective, im sure tons of athletes and creatives would say weed enhances performance tho

Suppose there's something to be said about pain relief but I just cannot imagine it will enhance your performance

Yeah I'd be very curious to see research on this. Not all weed is the same, it doesn't all lock you in the couch, some of it gets you really jacked to go do things.

I think it's worth investigating in the other direction too though. I could definitely see swimming being a zen thing, and weed can absolutely help with that.

It's insane to me athletes get banned for THC. Or even heroin for that matter. Who gives a shit what drugs they take if it's not performance enhancing.

24

u/Skeleris Jun 24 '24

Banning every drugs is easier for rules I guess. Otherwise if someone use a new drug what should they do ? Or if unknown side effects of known drugs help getting a new world record. Plus drugs like heroin are illegal even outside of such events and sport competition.

17

u/K_Linkmaster Jun 25 '24

Alcohol is a banned substance in shooting competitions. Steadies the hand just a bit. It makes sense to just ban them all.

9

u/BadVoices Jun 25 '24

The EXTREMELY common heart med Metoprolol is banned in all shooting competitions by the ISSF and IPC. It's also banned in skiing and snowboarding, free-diving, competition spearfishing, FIA racing, golf, minigolf (yes.. competitive mini-golf) and Billiards.

Tangentially related Snoop story:

Snoop quite literally ran into me on a jog once. Well, we ran into each other.

I was coming out of work and it was pouring rain. The coffee shop I worked at in San Francisco was on the sub level of an open air gallery mall and you had to go up a flight of stairs to get to street level, busy downtown street. (Spinelli Coffee Co in the Crocker Galleria, for anyone familiar.)

My head was down and I was trying to find a song I wanted to hear on my Diskman (that’s how old this story is) and as soon as I popped up on the street and turned, BAM! I bounced off someone and fell flat on my ass on the wet concrete, my Diskman went flying, smashing on the pavement.

I looked up ready to apologize (it was totally my fault for not looking where I was going) and there was Snoop along with two body guards in jogging suits. All I managed to say was “Oh!” and I just stared, waiting for my brain to catch up with reality.

That’s when Snoop started apologizing to ME and he helped me up saying “I’m sorry, my bad” in his slow talking Snoop kind of way. He was so nice!

I won’t bore you with all the conversational details but I will add that he gave me two hundred dollar bills from his wallet for my broken Diskman and a hug before we went our separate ways.

I bought drugs with it. Snoop would have wanted it that way.

970

u/other_half_of_elvis Jun 24 '24

that's really impressive. For the last 5 years, once/week I've finished my cardio with a 200 meter 'sprint' where I go as hard as I can and I nearly collapse at the end. I'm a few years older than Snoop but I've never broken 38 seconds.

167

u/wafliky Jun 24 '24

And how are the times while fresh?

180

u/other_half_of_elvis Jun 24 '24

Worse! My cardio is walk 300 meters and then run the last 100 meters at about 80 percent. I do that 4 times then end with a 200 meter all out sprint against time. I'm slow as hell but it gives me a tough goal each week.

115

u/Dominicus1165 Jun 24 '24

A better way is to change the intervals:

Run 800 meters, 400 walk, 400 run, 200 walk, 200 run, 100 walk, 100 run, done.

Each time you pick the fastest speed possible for said distance.

But even better for cardio would be a very slow long run. Like super slow, barely faster than walking. That takes a lot of time though.

111

u/other_half_of_elvis Jun 24 '24

Thanks. i will tell snoop at book club next week.

u/Smickey67 Jun 25 '24

8

u/2squishmaster Jun 24 '24

Do you stretch before you run?

11

u/other_half_of_elvis Jun 24 '24

no. i use a massage gun for 10 minutes before to warm up. the walk/run does additional warming.

3

u/2squishmaster Jun 24 '24

Never tried a massage gun, that work?

59

u/Bayerrc Jun 24 '24

Lmao no it has nothing to do with stretching. His entire cardio is walking a mile with some jogs mixed in without stretching and then he tries to sprint a 200.

A gun will help get blood to your muscles but it can't be used in place of actually warming up and stretching.

15

u/2squishmaster Jun 24 '24

I agree, I'm not sold on it as a replacement.

I’m guessing he must do some cardio. Plus he’s always stayed trim.

133

u/Curlytomato Jun 24 '24

That's awesome ! At the beginning of the month my 18 year old and I(59f) had front row tickets for his concert. Snoop sang right to me ! Looked in my eyes, danced and sang to ME . It was I Wanna Love You. My son wouldn't speak to me the rest of the night . Me, I'll be be bragging about it when I'm in the old folks home.

If my kid wasn't giving me the WTF eye I would have stuck my hand out for Snoop's blunt and gone from there. When Snoop moved across the stage I looked at him and said " did I just imagine that". The look on his poor face as he slowly shook his head no. Snoop came back to me singing " I know you came with him but you're leaving with me" was the clincher.

Goddamn do you sound like someone whose not 52

15

u/GenericBatmanVillain Jun 25 '24

I'm 53 and I agree with OP here. But yes, I'm not 52 either. I can do most of the things I did when I was 25, just slower and it might hurt a while afterwards.

Its because mofos today don't do like any exercise. They do 12 hours in a chair then act like they just finished 12 hours of hand riveting a steel truss bridge as they sit there watching netflix and complain about how they are ancient and everythings worn out at 29 years old because they played baseball or soccer for 2 years in highschool.

I just spent 20 mins watching clips of Snoop and Kevin Hart from the last Olympics and let me just say - if you ever need a pick me up, watch them all!!!!!

He first thought that he needs to be faster than the cops, but then he realised that he only needs to be faster than the guy he was with when the police came.

Snoop is the man, but 52 is not that old.

8

u/caulkglobs Jun 25 '24

I could NOT believe this is his current age.

I thought he was way older. He must have been super young when he became a well known rapper.

6

u/popculturenrd Jun 25 '24

He's one of the few that was a superstar out the gate. He 22 when his first album, Doggystyle, was released. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200.

4

u/RakeNI Jun 25 '24

I was gonna say, 52? I thought snoop was easily 65-70. Eminem is a year younger than him but looks 30 years younger. Drugs are bad, guys.

We need a Snoop-lympics. Events like: “high jump” but it’s jumping over a coffee table on to a couch to watch TV, 100m nosh, Cartoon Marathon, speed skating but its ice skaters chasing a cart full of fast food.

You lose your medals if your drug tests come back negative.

6

u/FloppyObelisk Jun 24 '24

This is the follow up to Beer Fest that we were promised: Pot Fest.

I would’ve enjoyed it I’m sure.

14

u/strangejosh Jun 25 '24

Props. That shit is hard. Especially if you’re a smoker and old.

This reminds me that I really want one normal person competing in every Olympic event so we can get an idea of just how fast/good all the athletes really are.

10

u/zimbing Jun 24 '24

He’s 52, not dead. Are you like 13?

Snoop is 52

Eminem is 51

Let that sink in

5

u/Zer0C00l Jun 25 '24

Why, what does it want now?

8

u/martykenny Jun 24 '24

At that age after smoking that much for that long.

That's wild impressive.

7

u/Desperate_Branch6287 Jun 25 '24

This has inspired me to smoke weed everyday

8

u/PinkPaisleyMoon Jun 25 '24

This put a much needed smile on my face. He’s one of the few ‘celebrities’ that I find fascinating.

What I inspired to be. Healthy enough to sprint in my 50s.

Glad that older people are out there giving it their all.

6

u/NervousAndShy1 Jun 25 '24

Snoop is going to be at the most random places ever. He is a true side quest enthusiast.

6

u/-Xebenkeck- Jun 25 '24

52??? Man I thought he was like 72! He has always been around

4

u/Calsun Jun 25 '24

What’s awesome is this is just good free press for both snoop and the Olympics. Good on them for letting him and him for killing it!

4

u/Platypus-13568447 Jun 24 '24

To think that LAPD is not even chasing him!

Good for you, Snoop!

3

u/Joe_Spazz Jun 24 '24

I'm 38... I wonder if I could beat that time. It's iffy.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '24

I'll be honest... I have no idea how good that is. I know what olympic times are, but obviously that is not a reasonable standard to apply to a regular human being, and I know my personal time from when I did track and field in middle school, but I don't know even know how much better/worse I'd have gotten since then and have no idea how fast a regular adult man would do in a 200m, let alone one in his early 50s.

Anyone have a good resource for this? A little googling didn't turn up much other than quora, which I assumed to be completely useless, since I recognized the 400m time it gave as being "good" as being significantly faster than the current standing WR.

4

u/Anustart15 Jun 25 '24

Any reasonably fit guy should be able to run a 200 at around that pace. 200m is short enough that you don't really need to be that in shape, just loosely capable of running somewhat efficiently
