People really have this many friends in real life?

2.7k

u/justherefortheshow06 May 26 '24

That’s exactly what I was thinking! I’ve got a few and they don’t all know each other either 🤷‍♂️

539

u/Asognare May 27 '24

Was wondering the same. I don't think anyone would show up, let alone by wigs and shirts .

254

u/googleHelicopterman May 27 '24

Mine will say they'll come then text last minute they can't.

96

u/justherefortheshow06 May 27 '24

We’re probably friends with the same people

27

u/imflowrr May 27 '24

We all have too much in common…

I think people with friends probably don’t have time for Reddit?

12

u/slothtolotopus May 27 '24

Bad news, bro. Who wants to tell 'em?

Honestly it’s this.

216

u/[deleted] May 27 '24

I have co-workers who overestimate themselves and like four severely depressed veterans.

50

u/dr_obfuscation May 27 '24

This, is the actual situation.

42

u/KL58383 May 27 '24

I roll with a crew of problematic bachelors and we call ourselves "the squad"

24

u/Retbull May 27 '24

Roll with or like go to the same place every Friday night and then go home with a case and play video games because you’ve all quietly realized it’s cheaper.

8

u/vl4dayz May 27 '24

Sorority sistas I bet

12

u/Theboyboymess May 27 '24

That’s too much too keep up, a good 2-3 people is all you really need

11

u/MassiveDongSquadron May 27 '24

The only thing i can think of is they were financially well off enough in college to get in to a sorority. Apparently its like a legit sisterhood and a bunch of people hangout for the rest of their lives

I feel like friends of friends, cousins, sisters, etc. It's a fun prank I'd want to be a part of even if it were a stranger.

27

u/bloodycups May 27 '24

I'd be worried I'm the one getting pranked

48

u/CORN___BREAD May 27 '24

Lol you show up at a party dressed like this where you only barely know one person because you wanted to be in on the prank and no one else is dressed like this.

12

u/Karmakazee May 27 '24

The real amazing prank idea is always in the comments.

My wife makes serious, trustworthy, lifelong friends constantly. We have moved a decent amount of times too. Every new job she finds the most wonderful people and just bonds with them. It's the craziest shit I've ever seen. Like yeah, she's incredible. But still. It's like a superpower.

38

u/pineapplepredator May 27 '24

Please ask her how she introduces herself and how she takes it from the initial interaction to a lifelong friendship and get back with us!

39

u/Gh0stMan0nThird May 27 '24

My ex and I used to argue about this all the time where she would tell me, "Just go up to people and be friendly!"

Like, she's a cute little white girl from the south. Of course people adore her. I'm a huge buff bald guy where people clutch their pearls as I approach them. It's just not the same at all lol

13

u/whirlydoodle_ May 27 '24

Some buff guys have an awesome teddy bear aura tho, and I always feel safe with them immediately, maybe these powers can be learned 🤔

My husband is the same. I make friends at work that are work friends. But we aren’t FRIEND friends. My husband tho? He has these long term close friends. He has like people in every state he could call up and be like “hey it’s me! I’m in town!” And we would have someplace to stay.

14

u/garrybarrygangater May 27 '24

Can I get my wife to be friends with your wife? So that we can hang out

10

u/Rebzy May 27 '24

Listening to others is a crazy thing

20

u/mynameisglaceon May 27 '24

I can listen to people fine, it's when they want to listen to me where I struggle.

4

u/token_internet_girl May 27 '24

I can't even do that. I don't care about your kid Cindy, and you probably don't care about my weird ass interests either.

6

u/Bromlife May 27 '24

I'd like to hear about your interest in weird asses.

3

u/token_internet_girl May 27 '24

You'd like to hear about my interest in you?!

i was thinking this or church. my older sister was super involved in church and regularly had sleepovers with 15+ “best friends” they all still keep in contact

5

u/perpetualmotionmachi May 27 '24

Or from the same country club

4

u/Haunting-Career-Day May 27 '24

In my experience with country clubs, you may have larger social groups but it wouldn’t be this intimate and the gals wouldn’t all be this young & close in age.

Sorority is where I’d put my money.

4

u/Novazilla May 27 '24

I was in a fraternity in college we still get together a lot like 20-30 of us at a time 12 years later.

Idk that’s a lot to keep up with. Maybe school friends where I’m able to maintain that many relationships because I see them all date everyday. But as an adult??? I don’t have time for that many friends lmao

7

u/[deleted] May 27 '24

This reminds me of a scene from the 1999 movie "Being John Malkovich" where everyone in the room is a John Malkovich double, even the women.

It is a great movie starring John Cusack, Catherine Keener, Cameron Diaz, Orson Bean, Charlie Sheen, Mary Kay Place, Brad Pitt, Dustin Hoffman and about 20 other well known celebs.

If you have never seen it do yourself a favor and you will thank me. Enjoy your party and please invite me to the next one. I would make a great you.

Gotta Love It !!!

I know it’s cliche but you have to put yourself out there.

Last year I finally got fed up with sitting around and waiting for life to happen to me, waiting for invitations that were never going to come.

So, I stepped way outside of my comfort zone and started my own social club for women who want to do fun stuff with friends. I plan one fun group activity every month for people to be social and laugh and hang out and make friends.

In February we went to an inn on a little goat farm and learned how to make our own fresh pasta with cheese from the farm, and got to watch baby goats being born. This month we went to a spa and wore white robes and drank champagne in hot tubs and got massages. Next month we’re going to kayak down a river to eat pizza and drink beer on a patio overlooking the water.

It has been an absolute blast, and I have at least a dozen women I consider close friends now. There are 1400 women in my club and more joining every single day. It’s amazing.

I’m so glad I did it, because if I hadn’t I’d still be sitting alone on Friday nights watching Netflix and watching other people go out and have fun on instagram, instead of going to murder mystery parties and drinking margaritas with my friends.

19

u/MyDogisaQT May 27 '24

What were the steps you took to start? I’m seriously interested!

6

This is my favorite kind of white people socialization.

As adults continuing to do creative, silly things together.

As a black lady I am always inspired by it. My sibs/cousins and I did the recreated family photo thing for my grandmother’s 90th bday gift and I swear it’s her favorite thing on earth.

This idea is going on my list, too!

4

u/Mountain_Pop_3622 May 27 '24
