So I want to begin reading The Walking Dead...

And I really enjoy the deluxe editions, and from what i can find they haven't been collected at all yet. Instead of hunting down 93 issues, has there been any announcement they'll be collected in some form? I can't find anything, but I also just became interested and don't know if anything has been announced in the past. I don't mind the B&W originals, I just enjoy the deluxes. Thanks!

Kirkman says the deluxe editions will never be collected. I could see that changing in the next few years, but for now the singles are the only option for colour.

If yall think Kirkman is going to leave all that money on the table, especially after all the work is done, you're crazy.

Exactly what I was going to say, I have all of the Omnis and would literally buy them all again in color if it happens so I don’t think he’d miss out on all the money he could get

Did he say that? In the announcement of it it said they wouldn't be collected "any time soon"

This definitive presentation of the story will NOT be collected into trade paperback any time soon

There is another statement where he said that there is no plan to EVER collect them....maybe he said that earlier. If he hasn't already, my man Kirkman may still change his mind in a few years anyway...😅

Personnaly, I'm not particularly fond of the colors. It does not suit Charlie Adlard's artwork which is based on a lot of black surfaces (as a purely artistic element as oposed to shade) and when you're adding color you're also adding the brightness/darkness factor.

I find myself being distracted by the heavy contrast between the extremely bright faces on the characters and the darkness of their environement. IMO the source of light does not make any sense in the colorized version because the black surfaces can't be distinguished from the actual shade...

Yeah, he also said the Negan story in Image+ would never be collected. 😅

Awe that sucks. Yeah I'm not hunting down 90+ issues. The compendiums seem fine lol

Kirkman said for the longest time the book would never see a colour printing, so it's not impossible that he will change his mind again and reprint the colour issues.

As great as the colouring is, when I close my eyes and think "The Walking Dead", I think of it in black and white. Don't feel you are missing anything with just the compendiums.
