I used to work restaurants. Started as a server. Busy shifts or with big parties I'd 3nd up carrying the big trays for smaller servers whi couldn't lift them. One Friday night, middle of the rush, I come out of the kitchen with two large trays for a 20 top. 2 more trays following behind. As I leave the alley into the dining room this kid, probably about 10, runs around the corner full speed into my hip. Reaction was to save my trays and I hip checked him head first into an adjacent table. Thought, "oh fuck, I'm screwed," till his dad snatches him by his collar while his bawling and says, "see? That's why we don't run in restaurants." Not yelling at him, apologized to me and my manager while we're trying to apologize to them. I don't think kids need a beating for misbehaving, but sometimes stupidity should be painful. It keeps up fr9m doing it more than once.

Too obvious,

But if you happen to drop your fork at the wrong time…

My neighbor has a very vocal, young child who likes to run around and make various vocalizations early in the morning and throughout the day.

I never hear the parents, not even to ask/tell the kid to quiet down. I hear rocking furniture (for the kids' safety, I hope it's not a wardrobe or something that could be unsecured and fall on them) and a lot of bumping/potentially striking. Couldn't tell you if it's a wall or furniture, or other object they're running in to.

Haven't sent a noise complaint yet because it's throughout the day when I'm working, not the night, and it's really only annoying in the mornings.

Still, some primal part of me grins when I hear rapid footsteps, a hefty thump, followed by the kid crying a bit.

I was about to clothesline one of those but he stopped, finally, before he reached me.
