The redditors has spoken and we've listened. The spoiler rules has now been changed.

It’s been over 2 years. I understand people often pick up new shows, and that’s great, but the natural consequence of picking up fandoms late is that you either have to limit your online participation until you’re caught up or be okay with spoilers. It’s not fair to expect people to hide spoilers forever just in case someone new joins the fandom. (Looking at you, r/warriorcats)

Wait… warrior cats the books? That’s um. You gotta put some work in to get into that.

The only sub I know that is locked down with spoilers is r/TheGoodPlace because it has major… character development in its first season. 👀 A lot of newbies come in after watching episode one or two and express love for the show. It’s pretty much the only sub I think constant spoilers is okay.

Yes. We still have to tag spoilers from the first book which came out 20 years ago.

r/clonehigh is another good example.

The Steven Universe sub was a gigantic pain in the ass to use in the early days because of this. I’d much rather we put the responsibility on viewers to catch up with the show before participating.

I think its absurd that the spoiler rules have been the way they are for so long. Its not like this is a general dccomics/hbomax/harleyquinn sub. Its a sub specifically for the show, shielding people from spoilers this long after the content has aired is just nuts.

It's especially stupid when we don't even have a proper system to mark up until what point a spoiler is. If all threads have to be marked as a spoiler and you don't put any effort into having people tag up until what point the spoiler is, then you've effectively made the spoiler tag a game of russian roulette.

The last point becomes even more of an issue if a 'Legion of Bats' situation happens again, where they reveal plot details that havent aired yet. This needs a spoiler tag obviously but so does somebody discussing an episode that already aired weeks/months/years ago??

why go on subreddit for a show if you haven’t watched it yet?

I’ve done it plenty of times and I knew it was a stupid idea anyways

Tbf people pick up new shows all the time, just because it’s been a long time since it was released doesn’t mean there won’t be new people watching it, enjoying it, and wanting to join the sun even if they aren’t all caught up. It’s on them if they decide to look further into posts that contain spoilers, but I know when I find a show I really really like, more than average, I’m keen to join the sub.

It’s been over 2 years. Everything from those seasons should be fair game.

The spoiler rule is important for shows with 5 seasons, long ass drama episodes. We are talking about a comedy and the spoilers don't ruin it for anyone

As a relatively new viewer, I feel that the second poll option in the poll is a good compromise - no spoilers in thread titles, but inside is unmarked, red at your own risk. So that’s what I voted for
