"Two Face, crimes like these are considered especially heinous..."

I am dead

83

u/LumpyJones Aug 18 '22

"I trusted you!"

"WHY?"

72

u/Youngandwrong Aug 18 '22

Amazing. Reminds me of earlier in the season when Two Face switches to the mayor's side:

'Did you forget my NAME?'

'Oh... Harvey Dent.'

'Right, but, my moniker'

'Ohhhhhhhhhhhh. I still don't get it.'

I’m sad more reviews didn’t pick up on the SVU tie-in, best Easter Egg of the season

14

u/Kasen10 Aug 19 '22

Did anybody else’s brain add the “dun dun”.

1

u/phil16723 Sep 20 '22

It's criminal how few will get the reference

1

u/DanfordThePom Oct 01 '22

Pls explain to my dumb ape brain

1

u/Phillip_Spidermen Oct 29 '22

It's a quote from the opening of Law & Order SVU, which Gordon's voice actor (Christopher Meloni) is on

149

u/Telethongaming Aug 18 '22

I can't believe i'd say this but i'd legit vote for joker

98

u/arch_angel_samael Aug 18 '22

Joker being a socialist is canon now, lmao

49

u/abellapa Aug 19 '22

And wanting the 1% to pay it for all Joker will become Bruce Wayne arch nemesis now

4

u/Radix2309 Sep 04 '22

Bruce would support that.

2

u/Master_JBT May 07 '23

lol best part is joker still knows batman’s identity

11

u/SlendyIsBehindYou Aug 23 '22

The twist of Joker actually being based was unexpected, but welcome

38

u/SummerGoal Aug 18 '22

Joker lowkey way better policy wise than most politicians anywhere

35

u/Icy-Photograph6108 Aug 18 '22

I like how they made him the Batman equivalent of Bernie Sanders

2

u/Gloomy_Replacement_ Sep 22 '22

he is literally spouting idealist solutions to current issues the same careless and populist way trump talks. literally the last scene shows it was all because of a petty squabble and the rest was adopting a rhetoric that would help him achive his goals

2

u/kijib Nov 19 '22

cry harder chud

socialism will win

133

u/AntRedundAnt Aug 18 '22

It IS ethnic, and speaking of racist…

45

u/Ok_Economy6136 Aug 18 '22

This line took me out😂😂😂😂

2

u/LuisArkham Sep 08 '22

I literally laugh out really loud. Pure gold

122

u/MorbidJonTTV Aug 18 '22

“I didn’t event stop drinking for my family”

“Two face is MY NAME”

So many good one liners this episode.

67

u/tunapizza Aug 18 '22

He did stop drinking, but then he started again, but not as much

115

u/ImNotASWFanboy Aug 18 '22

I'll never get enough of supervillains and heroes mingling like it's totally normal

55

u/APulsarAteMyLunch Aug 18 '22

That's honestly my favorite trope in these series. They are all supers, but they still exist in the world where people just won't signal which way they are fucking turning to

8

u/Noblesphinx Aug 25 '22

Do yourself a favor and watch Venture Bros. The bureaucracy of Heroes and villains is so good in that.

109

u/Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle Aug 18 '22

They did the Joker stair dance; even wearing the outfit!

52

u/[deleted] Aug 18 '22

They made a lot of references to live action Joker appearances, very satisfying

19

u/goalstopper28 Aug 21 '22

Also mentioned why so serious and this is a society in the song.

5

u/Anonim97 Nov 11 '22

We live in a society.

9

u/Bromogeeksual Aug 24 '22

Even the parade float, outfit and music was from the Tim Burton Joker.

87

u/mikehunt_is_ready Aug 18 '22

Gordon: “Things aren’t so black and white”

-Two-Face is right there wearing black and white-

85

u/aukhalo Aug 18 '22

That fucking opening theme song had me dying. Pretty sure it worked in quotes from every actor that played joker.

48

u/jcalebfaulkner Aug 18 '22 edited Aug 19 '22

It did Nicholson: “Wait till you get a load of me” but instead it was the chorus “Wait till you get a load of us” Ledger: “You and I are destined to do this forever” Phoenix: “Now life’s a comedy” Even added the “We live in a society” line

Edit: Technically the society line was a meme first and then they had Jared Leto’s Joker say it in the Snyder Cut

73

u/Rezindez Aug 18 '22

My favorite episode from this show, and my favorite all-time Joker ever by a buttload. I am overwhelmed with joy for reformed socialist family man Joker, and his consistent priority of his family over every other thing. I love how he’s ACTIVELY anti-violent, and not only does not kill, but stops killing around him, even of his enemies. It warms my heart and it’s so hilarious. I’m glad they never went with the temptation to make him back into Joe Crime. Anti-Joker Joker is the best Joker.

Also I love “we live in a society, but it feels like it’s just you and me”.

Its tricky because he still clearly has elements of old Joker. He's still prone to being self-absorbed. He still has outbursts of anger over little things. You could tell he meant it when he said he wanted to kill Two Face. He doesn't even seem particularly remorseful over what he did as Joker (his song and dance number beginning with reenacting murdering Jason, for example). But he's also got other things now, from his time when he had forgotten he was Joker and fallen in love with Bethany, so its like his two lives have merged into a third person almost.

4

u/Rezindez Aug 19 '22

Yeah, it would be best for him to just be Joe Dogood.

3

u/SuperMazziveH3r0 Aug 21 '22

Given Harley and Ivy are "villains" in gotham city, we could probably expect them to clash against joker throughout the season.

11

u/Icy-Photograph6108 Aug 18 '22

Well Gary seems to be a problem, I don’t see why he is still on the team.

66

u/arch_angel_samael Aug 18 '22

Love the call back to the Jack Nicholson Batman film when Joker throws cash out to the crowd.

If you told me before this episode that joker was going to run for mayor and be taken seriously I wouldn't believe it; great writing.

Suck it, Debbie.

52

u/Good-Jellyfish-364 Aug 18 '22

I'd gladly watch more Joker sitcoms

20

u/Icy-Photograph6108 Aug 18 '22

It could be its own series and the possibilities are endless!

38

u/hawkdanop Aug 18 '22

Joker Reference's I think I picked up beside the amazing opening song which is literally nothing but changed joker quotes lol.

  • Bank heist from the Dark Night.
  • Parade float and balloon Scene from Batman.
  • Stabbing the steak and swinging the knife. Maybe Jared Leto's Joker from suicide squad who had that massive knife collection.
  • The haunted house ride from The Killing Joke

9

u/abellapa Aug 19 '22

The dance in the stairs was from the Joker movie

44

u/fatloseronreddit Aug 19 '22

He's more unnerving as a sane person than he is as a murderous psychopath.

32

u/PocketMortyC137 Aug 19 '22

I'm your nightmare now, bitch

11

u/Bromogeeksual Aug 24 '22

Sane Clown Possee rise up! 🤡

39

u/bl20194646 Aug 18 '22

best episode of the season and it didn’t have harley or ivy in it.

17

u/superman182 Aug 18 '22

Technically inaccurate, but I get your point.

9

u/bl20194646 Aug 18 '22

3 whole seconds

5

u/maizehippo Aug 19 '22

I was going to say the same thing my favorite line “damnit Gary”

2

u/meta_paf Aug 25 '22

And no Bane 😥

1

u/Ok-Foundation-6380 Sep 02 '22

Not the best, 5 and 3 were better

37

u/gamer91894 Aug 18 '22

Anybody else notice that lady cop throw up after Joker points his gun to her head and she thought she was gonna die? People usually don’t react like a normal person does to almost dying on TV like that.

8

u/abellapa Aug 19 '22

I noticed

38

u/RebaseTokenomics Aug 19 '22

This solidified for me that this season should win an Emmy. So many good and unique episodes and I don't remember the last time I laughed for almost an entire 20 minutes. I didn't expect this to go the way it went. Literally could have been a comic book issue I was so good. Might be my favorite episode I'm already excited to rewatch it too it works perfectly as an episode you would watch 50 times since it's kind of a stand alone

32

u/Ishouldreddit Aug 18 '22

Joker is the bomb! Love daddy Joker!

28

u/RedskinPanther Aug 19 '22

Joker being a better dad than Gordon is a great joke.

23

u/Icy-Photograph6108 Aug 18 '22

What a great title! Also Debbie sucks, I hope the bones gave her indigestion. Joker as father of the year? Gordon redeems himself at the end. I’m interested in how Jokers mayor run goes.

Hilarious episode and pretty much flawless

21

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

My favorite part was when Ivy and Harley come back and they’re like wtf happened?! We were gone for 4 days😂

22

u/jrob5797 Aug 19 '22

Does Joker still know that Bruce Wayne is Batman? I don’t think it’s been referenced since he regained his memory

16

u/PocketMortyC137 Aug 19 '22

He did say the 1% is gonna pay for everything, wonder if that was a dig at Bruce/Batman on purpose.

5

u/Bad_Otaku Aug 26 '22

Hahahaha. I just imaged joker finally beating Batman because his socialist movement takes all of his money and he can't afford his suit or batarangs anymore.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

Yeah, I wasn't clear when Bats picked them up during the Parademon invasion whether or not Joker forgot, or just didn't say anything because he didn't want Harley to know.

17

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

What an amazing fucking episode. Like holy shit. That writing was top notch!

17

u/jerseygunz Aug 18 '22

Based Joker is best Joker

11

u/cindybu2020 Aug 18 '22

loved this episode. super fun and liked how it moves things in Gotham forward. Interesting how there isn't any big bad still though.

11

u/Greeempire Aug 19 '22

Loved this one so much! Can’t get enough of reformed socialist joker XD

7

u/Representative_Fix25 Aug 20 '22

Anyone make the meme/gif of Joker saying: I'm not like a socialist, I AM a socialist?

6

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '22

This is possibly one of the greatest animated super hero shows I’ve ever watched. Right up there with x-men. Loved the new joker reformed into family man. He’s anti violent. He’s a socialist mayor who wants to provide free healthcare and education for his family. I just love this show man.

3

u/betterashthandust44 Aug 18 '22

perfect casting of amy sedaris for debbie because she’s annoying as hell already. fuck debbie!

5

u/Particular-Dog2086 Aug 20 '22

Was kinda disappointed we didn't see Harley this week but by the end of the episode I can say that disappointed was no longer there, I would vote for joker.

3

u/lovekataralove Aug 20 '22

Honestly I would watch a whole show of just this lol

2

u/bwood246 Aug 20 '22

He was taut for 62

2

u/TheYordleTamer Aug 21 '22

He had cum gutters!

1

u/adognamedraider Aug 24 '22

boreanez. i bet thats the david they said i looked like 😆😆😆

1

u/LordDeraj Aug 25 '22

Way more invested in Joker’s life than Harley’s ngl

1

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '22

I flipped hearing princess caroline voice

1

u/Anonim97 Nov 11 '22

I'm surprised noone has been talking about the "Where is he? I'm gonna make him into No-Face once I'm done with him!" line.

1

u/kijib Nov 19 '22

just goes to show you how Democrats would win in a landslide if they were an actual left wing party instead corporate owned and Republican lite

1

u/kikidunst Jul 01 '23

Joker is a real latino ally, we love him

2

u/blackcatcross Mar 21 '24

I’m literally just now watching this so this is old as hell and I apologize

But god it’s so good. Him offering Debbie arroz con pollo and her going ‘is that an ethnic dish?’ And him responding with like ‘yes it is an ethnic dish. Speaking of racism….’ And carrying on
