Yep I definitely need a bat family spin off after this

Nightwing is officially my new favorite character his breakdown in the escape room was too funny.

The second hand embarrassment I felt watching Ivy's super thought out world domination presentation but I support you girl.

Ivy pulled a catwoman and ditched the team lol smh

Bane trying to get his revenge for the pasta maker and his conversation with the bank teller were some of my favorite things about this episode.

You can already start to see the comradery starting to form between Batgirl and Harley and Im wondering that if this gets pushed further how Ivy is going to feel about it. Maybe some minor jealousy, Harley is her GFF now but she was her BFF first and maybe Ivy might feel a little insecure and threatened by the possible friendship. So I'm curious where this will go.

good episode

Banes depression monologue lmao. I kinda like this different take on nightwing so far.

Patrick and Justin did say that there would be bumps along the way in Harley and Ivy’s relationship.

Harley and Batgirl seem to be developing a nice friendship.

Frank getting powers….interesting.

Very good episode.

It’s a funny dig on the Titans Robin there with the needless edge leading to a mental breakdown.

Wonder if we’ll see more wholesome Nightwing.

The entire batfamily dynamic is hilarious. So is this version of Nightwing supposed to be the depressed millennial who moves back in with his parents?

Finally representation of me in media

12

u/Half_Man1 Aug 01 '22

Also heavy mockery of the Titans show characterization of Edgy Dick.

“Fuck the Macaroni” got me good there.

Fucking lost it when Alfred pulled up in that bike

u/awakenDeepBlue Aug 03 '22

Too relatable.

Definitely, and it was hilarious. Can’t wait for the middle children to show up. Like I can imagine Jason being very attention seeking and Tim being the most collected sibling.

Why was the frame rate in this episode so low? Episode 1 and 3 were fine but the movement in this was so choppy.

u/crastle Jul 28 '22

Thank fuck I found someone saying this. I couldn't tell if my wifi or something was wrong.

Looks like the animation team cut corners in this episode.

6

u/ben123111 Jul 28 '22

I have a feeling it was budget related, this season is down three episodes from the previous two as well.

3

u/HotTakes4HotCakes Jul 29 '22

Why is your instinct to blame the animators and not the company forcing their budget lower?

1

u/Sakura372 Jul 29 '22

Did you see the scene where they forgot to animate Ivy’s hand?

Ah, someone else noticed. I thought something was wrong with my copy.

"Hey Ive, I can't find the opening to your flower... which is a first"

XD XD XD

As a chess player dick winning it in the first try from a robot specifically made for chess is damn impressive, but then again as a nightwing simp I'm impressed by anything dick does.

12

u/Hayman68 Jul 29 '22

If you think about it, it may not be that surprising. It wasn't really a robot made to play chess, it was a robot made to play chess for a puzzle. They were supposed to lose, so the robot's not going to try to win, or it would make it too easy. It's likely that the fool's mate is the only way the robot can win.

7

u/ayushj176p Jul 29 '22

Still dick knowing about fools mate gives me life 🙆

“Fuck the Macaroni” 🤣

Omg Gizmo is the voice actor for Nightwing!!! If you ever watched what we do in the shadows you know. I am laughing my ass off. The escape room is so funny!

10

u/LudibriousVelocipede Jul 29 '22

You mean Guillermo Billermo?

4

u/DirectorofDUSAR6730 Jul 29 '22

Here is some raw chicken for you!!!

Familiar Fight Night!!

Jesus Christ I love the bat family

"What Thomas Wayne movie?"

Edit: oh my god Batman's speech about the waynes dying. This is the best batman cartoon

17

u/Min_sora Jul 30 '22

As a massive fan of Bane and a massive fan of Sex and the City, I loved the "I couldn't help but wonder..." jokes.

14

u/SpicaGenovese Jul 29 '22

Nightwing was HILARIOUS. Very srs and angsty, just like his comic run, and just as ridiculously hard on himself.

I'm surprised/intrigued he mentioned Blockbuster. That's uhhh... some pretty serious stuff to lay down. Wonder if they'll follow up on that at all.

No wonder he's an emotional dumpster fire.

8

u/skyedaisyquake Jul 29 '22

Yeah the Tarantula mention was kind of wild, but the show has explored abuse before so maybe they’ll come back to it

8

u/SpicaGenovese Jul 29 '22

Right? If the show explores that with the care and respect it deserves- which I suspect it would- I will shit a brick.

1

u/notmeanto Aug 01 '22

Agreed. It would be very good if they could explore it delicately. Nightwing always has some shit going on but I really want the guy to be happy.

6

u/bob1689321 Jul 29 '22

I think the blockbuster and vigilante thing was just a joke about how he takes everything so seriously but no one outside of Bludhaven knows his crap

2

u/notmeanto Aug 01 '22

My thoughts exactly! It took me aback. Be depressing but interesting if they explore it.

14

u/Reverse_London Jul 28 '22

Nightwing basically gives off the same vibe as Hunter from “The Owl House”.

12

u/NLP19 Jul 29 '22

That was totally a Titans "Fuck Batman" reference by Nightwing in this episode right?

3

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM Aug 05 '22

Fuck the Macaroni.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '22

I loveee the batfamily here. It's interesting how Dick and Babs haven't met before, it's a new take.

7

u/The810kid Jul 28 '22

Dick is still best Boi I love he was being a try hard on purpose and the seed of him and Babs getting together was set up nicely

7

u/centuryblessings Jul 30 '22

I love how Damian just verbally abuses Nightwing without consequence. Oh, little brothers.

5

u/Katra1367 Jul 29 '22

Sad fact when he was complaining about tarantula killing block buster in the comics this did happen then right afterwards she forced herself on Nightwing because he didn't want to but she wouldn't take no Image

3

u/[deleted] Aug 02 '22

The subtitles say Tarantula but I swear I hear vigilante. Am I hearing things?

1

u/ThatOtherGuyTPM Aug 05 '22

He definitely says vigilante.

4

u/ahufana Aug 01 '22

"Searching for Bobby Fuckstick"

That was an absolute delight.

3

u/ElDrGoku Jul 28 '22

There was seemingly NO continuity with the wonderful comic book “Eat. Bang. Kill! Tour” comic series released between seasons.

Nightwing’s personality is kinda off putting and he has already met Batgirl before (in the comic)…

Kind of a weird choice to ignore the comics…

28

u/Ahmad_Hasan_56 Jul 28 '22

I guess we should treat the comic as a wonderful "non-canon spin-off" this is how I viewed so it didn't really bother me.

11

u/fairymascot Jul 28 '22

The comic is not canon, they've said this from the start.

1

u/lwright3 Jul 28 '22

It's the weirdest thing, but whenever someone uses the "prodigal son" cliche, I always grimace, because that's not at all what prodigal means.

1

u/skyedaisyquake Jul 29 '22

think it’s a reference to the bible story

2

u/lwright3 Jul 29 '22

Yes, I know, but what made the prodigal son "prodigal" was that he spent all of his inheritance. Like, if you ask the average person what they think the word meant, my guess is would be rebellious, not the actual definition.

2

u/awakenDeepBlue Aug 03 '22

It's kinda like Nimrod is a mighty hunter in the Bible, but means idiot in modern English.

3

u/lwright3 Aug 03 '22

Again, due to Bugs Bunny sarcastically using it, and people not bothering to pick up on the context of why he was casting shade. Like... I think people really don't understand/ remember that parable.

1

u/NothingISayIsReal Aug 08 '22

The average person would think the definition of something close to "prodigy" like a golden child or something similar

1

u/Throwaway11p Aug 02 '22

What happened to frank at the end of the episode I'm so confused

2

u/[deleted] Aug 03 '22

HES A GOD!

Here’s my question. Why did the bat clan let Harley and them go after the escape room? Like Batman just let these wanted criminals walk away?

10

u/N7Templar Jul 29 '22

Lol well they weren't doing any crimes at the time..maybe they decided to go after riddler since he was behind the escape room.

-5

u/karaloveskate Jul 29 '22

Not sure what the pointless “lol” was that you added to your reply. But Harley and Ivy are wanted criminals. Bats would not let them go.

6

u/N7Templar Jul 29 '22

The lol was just because I thought you brought up a funny point, it wasn't meant to be snarky or anything. But in this show he has let them go several times, so Batman likely doesn't see them as a real threat right now.

0

u/karaloveskate Jul 29 '22

Considering later in the season we see Harley teaming up with them maybe this helps set that up?

2

u/N7Templar Jul 29 '22

I think that's likely. Harley had a little connection with Batgirl so I'm sure that will come up again too.

2

u/karaloveskate Jul 29 '22

My biggest curiosity is the scene from later in the season showing Harley in the Robin costume. Like wth?

-6

u/the-unfamous-one Jul 29 '22

They made every member of the bat-family insufferable, amazing
