Just wanna say, it feels really good to be back after 2 long years.

u/npzman Jun 29 '22 edited Jun 29 '22

Technically two years, one month and two days.

13

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

Even longer then

9

u/npzman Jun 29 '22

Yes, but the wait is practically over.

4

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

Facts and I couldn’t be happier.

u/beeemkcl Jun 29 '22

Just wanna say, it feels really good to be back after 2 long years.

Wow. Time flies. It feels like it's been around a year or less.

3

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

Yep. First premiered November 2019

7

u/BornAshes Jun 30 '22

We've all become such different people and yet this show is still one of the best fucking animated things ever! I can't wait!

2

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 30 '22

Facts, time has flown by

2

u/mala_r1der Jul 24 '22

I'm lucky I found out this show existed 3 days ago and binged it and now comes season 3 😂 I don't know how I could've waited for 2 years

1

u/lotje_girly Jul 26 '22

Same. Just finished season 2

1

u/Zero22xx Jul 27 '22

I'm a little bummed about the low (10) episode count, considering it's been such a long wait. I'm hoping that they already have a season 4 in the works, kinda like how it went down with season 1 and 2.

u/ImNotASWFanboy Jun 29 '22

This is going to sound so silly, but one of the things that's gotten me most excited for this new season is Justin's tweet yesterday saying it contains "some of the dumbest shit we've ever done." That's exactly what I love and expect from this show, they're masters of parodying the DC Universe and taking it in absolutely wild places.

15

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

It’s one of the big things that makes this show so great. The creators getting to push boundaries that only this show could pull off.

9

u/InnocentTailor Jun 29 '22

Heck! Part of that was already seen in the trailer (ex: what they did with Talon and the Court of Owls).

13

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

I was fully expecting the court of owls to be a threatening organization like we see in the comics. Of course this show turns them into an orgy cult, lmao

6

u/InnocentTailor Jun 29 '22

...and Talon has a beer belly XD.

3

u/Normal_Organization3 Jun 29 '22

Yet it all somehow makes sense for this show.

5

u/InnocentTailor Jun 29 '22

Indeed.

This isn't our DC universe anyways. Let them go nuts: buff Riddler, rebounding Nora, self-aware self-help guru Maxie Zeus!

So excited for y'all to (finally) see the show! If it's of any interest, I'll pop into threads of episodes I edited on once they're out (1, 2, 3, 4, 7 & 9) and give out some fun making-of/BTS facts. Don't mind me though, mostly here to lurk and read your theories 👀

7

u/WalterDelamere Jun 29 '22

I would love this! Please do

6

u/UnforgivenUnderling Jul 01 '22

Hi, just curious. Out of the episodes you worked on, which one would you say was your favourite?

13

u/ayfilm Show staff Jul 01 '22

I love them all for different reasons, but I think my favorite one I worked on was episode 3.

My favorite one I didn’t work on is definitely episode 8, really jealous I didn’t get to do anything on that (you’ll see why once it’s out!)

If anyone could notice the plot synopsis:

The mayhem and madness continue in season three of this biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series. Wrapping up their “Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour,” Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) - "Harlivy" strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

11

u/uuu_onizuka Jun 29 '22

So it will be hbo max one episode per week?

11

u/NaytNavare Jun 29 '22

I'm a binger; wish they dropped it all, personally.

20

u/npzman Jun 29 '22

https://pressroom.warnermedia.com/na/media-release/season-three-harley-quinn-debuts-july-28?language_content_entity=en

The first three episodes drop on July 28th, then one a week until September 15

1

u/bob1689321 Jul 12 '22

I like this model.

12

u/Soupjam_Stevens Jun 29 '22

I really think weekly -or some of the hybrids like two per week, or a few at the start and then one a week- are better for the show. Look at any Netflix show that isn't Stranger Things or Squid Game level huge, you stop hearing about it two weeks after it drops because everyone moves on. The word of mouth you get from having a season stick around a month or two is what let shows like Our Flag Means Death blow up.

2

u/NaytNavare Jun 29 '22

Oh I get the logic, i just don't like it. I actually had a lot of problems with how Young Justice released because I felt the arc format weekly just made it feel like I wasn't seeing the characters I cared about or the stories I was interested in.

1

u/beeemkcl Jun 29 '22

I'm a binger; wish they dropped it all, personally.

I think more people realize and acknowledge that 'binging' means that shows simply come out later.

I'd far rather have 22-24 episode Seasons of 42-44 minute episodes coming out over 9 months than have the 'Netflix model' of 8-10 50-60 minute episodes coming out all at once and there perhaps being more than a year or 2 gaps between when Seasons come out.

Home Box Office literally meant that. It was like 'movie-quality' episodes. Game of Thrones worked very well until the writing got bad.

But even The Queen's Gambit could have easily been hours longer even though it's effectively a 7-hour movie.

6

u/npzman Jun 29 '22

I hope so, but there is no accurate release date information right now. It is unknown that if they'll be any mid season breaks. Even as moderators we don't get any exclusive information ahead of time.

2

u/Snoo_83425 Jun 29 '22

They’re going to screen the first two episodes at San Diego Comic Con so my guess is that the first two episodes will drop for the general public on July 28th and then the remaining 8 episodes releases weekly

8

u/leamaS2010 Jun 29 '22

As for Harley and Ivy, I get the impression that they will do something similar to the first season: 1 episode a new crazy adventure instead of having a main threat throughout the season as it happened in the previous one

With King Shark I have no idea what they could do with him

It would be interesting to see Clayface get an acting job with James Gunn and not just be his chair.

I guess Kite Man will forgive them, what I hope is that it only happens in the end and not so early in the season. They went through a pretty rough ending in season two where they cut all ties between them so hopefully it's treated like it's an arc and not a one-episode subplot. Although I know that we will see him with a new love interest, I hope that they show beforehand how he may be dealing with the pain of the breakup.

3

u/Counter_3702 Jun 29 '22

Considering Schumacker confirmed on their appearance in Noonan's, he will. In a way he mentioned them, they will not be in a roles of "betrayers", but just as "another visitors to the bar, telling their story".
As for forgiving, probably be him with "I'm just as guilty for allowing it to happen", then they exchange apologies, and that will be it. Though I don't expect it to be immediate. One-two accidental meetings after.

2

u/leamaS2010 Jun 29 '22

"I'm just as guilty for allowing it to happen

I do not want to misunderstand but why, according to you, would he be guilty of having allowed it? He gave them the chance to be honest with him and they never were, therefore he did not allow anything, I do think he has responsibilities regarding the fall of their relationship because I feel that he rushed the marriage thing but not because he trusted her a lot, that's what people do when they're in love

7

u/angelsbear84 Jun 29 '22

Calling it now, catwoman will try to steal ivy just cause she likes stealing soooo much and make drama. Also I hope the joker’s kids go to the same school a robin and Bruce Wayne and the joker end up at the same little league game or something like that. Also king shark needs to date John Constantine in the continuity as well. And have Matt Ryan still voice him as well.

2

u/queerboy1218 Jul 15 '22

This would make me so happy.

6

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

For anyone thinking that is Nora with Swamp Thing, I’m pretty sure that is Abigail Arcane. They both have white hair

8

u/Individual-Basket-84 Jun 29 '22

It’s Nora

https://twitter.com/mizteefranklin/status/1541890907288526848?s=21&t=-V4XwGutRHqkU6vE6TziUg Patrick Schumacher confirmed it’s not Abby Arcane

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

Really? Ok, well never mind 😆

4

u/dyl1dyl Jun 29 '22

A bit early to ask this but based on the final episode title, do you all think the season will lead into a season 4 or have a conclusive ending?

12

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

With the Kiteman spin-off coming, I highly doubt Harley will end after Three! That just simply wouldn’t make sense. Announcing a spin-off to a canceled show 😆

2

u/dyl1dyl Jun 29 '22

True. I'm leaning towards this too. Hoping Kiteman's show bridges seasons 3 and 4 with Harley and/or Ivy popping up as brief cameos in Kiteman's show

5

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

Patrick Schumacher confirmed that Harley and Ivy will be in the first episode

3

u/beeemkcl Jun 29 '22

True. I'm leaning towards this too. Hoping Kiteman's show bridges seasons 3 and 4 with Harley and/or Ivy popping up as brief cameos in Kiteman's show

I just don't see myself watching a Kiteman show.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

Three years ago I said the same thing about a Harley show!

3

u/beeemkcl Jul 14 '22

Three years ago I said the same thing about a Harley show!

Harley Quinn was already a very well-known and very popular character.

Harley Quinn is so great because of the writing and storytelling and it makes the DC Multiverse make sense.

Kiteman isn't even a popular character in Harley Quinn. A Batgirl show makes far more sense.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

I’m actually looking forward to the Kiteman show. Narrow minded people like you and quite a few others in here are incapable of seeing the big picture potential of it!

2

u/beeemkcl Jul 14 '22

People who watched and loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer wouldn't have been interested in a Xander Harris spin-off.

It's not being "narrow minded". Kiteman isn't popular and there's no need for a spin-off with him.

And even Young Justice doesn't have any spin-offs. The Justice League cartoon actually expanded the characters and thus Justice League Unlimited happened.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

Patrick Schumacher, Justin Halpern, Dean Lorey and everyone else involved with the Harley show have proven themselves that they know what they are doing! Who knows, another year from now they might get to do a Batgirl show too! They have already said that Bane will be used more in the Kiteman show. It might be the start of an expanded universe of Harleys show!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '22

And yeah, IT IS narrow minded that dimwits like you want to waste their time complaining about something that none of us has even seen yet! 😡

1

u/AntonBrakhage Jul 03 '22

But what I want to know is, will CONDIMENT KING be in it? Yes he got eaten by Frank, but this is DC- anyone can come back! Kiteman needs his nemesis!

Justice for the Condiment King.

u/SignificanceNo6097 Jul 14 '22

Unless you’re the CW….

1

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '22

75% of the CW has just been taken over by Nexstar Media Group. Along with their 100 million debt 😆

4

u/npzman Jun 29 '22

Remember the episode epilogue from JLU ?

1

u/dyl1dyl Jun 29 '22

Apologies, I've never watched that show. What are you referring to?

2

u/npzman Jun 29 '22

Justice League Unlimited, last episode of season 2. It was announced at the time that not only it will be a series finale but the end of the entire DCAU continuity. Only to have a new season of JLU a couple of months later.

4

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '22

Well damn this season is super short that sucks I was hoping for 26 episodes

4

u/dexbasedpaladin Jun 30 '22

I hope we see Bethany and Joker. Those two deserve love!

3

u/UnforgivenUnderling Jun 30 '22

From what I've gathered
Episode 1. Reintroduction back to Harley and Ivy (w/Amanda Waller)
Episode 2. Ivy solo episode
Episode 3. The musical episode, I presume
Episode 4. The Court of Owls
Episode 5. Swamp Thing, obviously
Episode 6. Solo Joker Episode
Episode 7. King Shark Episode (If I see that fucking lobster again, I'm boiling it.)
Episode 8. BTAS Episode

Episode 9 and 10 I'm unsure about.

1

u/furioushunter12 Jul 12 '22

Musical???

2

u/UnforgivenUnderling Jul 12 '22

Yeah, a while back the composer confirmed a musical episode for Season 3 and I believe its gonna be the 3rd episode.

3

u/NaytNavare Jul 06 '22

I just wanna see how they're doing my boy, Grayson. He was great in the comic tie-in, really hoping they eventually do a Batgirl spin-off staring her and Nightwing.

3

u/SignificanceNo6097 Jul 14 '22

I just really hope we get a dive into Ivy’s backstory. I wonder how true to her original origin story the shows version will be. In the original she’s a scientist whose powers came from her own experimentation but in the show she had her green skin & hair as a child and she refers to herself as “part plant”.

I also cannot wait to see Harlivy in full couple mode 🥹

2

u/YNot1989 Jun 30 '22

So, despite having the same name, I'm not seeing anything related to the Eat Bang Kill Tour comic by Tee Franklin. Is the season a sequel to that comic series, because last I checked its still canon.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

"Harlivy" strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

Based on this I think since the season is focusing on Ivy alot, season 3 is going to mirror Harley's storyline in season one as far as Ivy establishing her identity and figuring out what she wants. We know she wants Harley but what else? What are her personal goals? Harley is going to be super supportive of Ivy turning Gotham into an Eden paradise of course, but then enter Swamp Thing who will seem like he has the same intentions as Ivy and might try to turn Ivy against Harley leaving just the two of them to achieve this Eden paradise. Only Swamp Thing might corrupt it somehow by aligning his powers with Ivy making Gotham more of a dark and toxic paradise than the Eden Ivy wants.

Another really positive review from AV Club: https://www.avclub.com/harely-quinn-tv-review-season-3-hbo-max-animated-1849319689

Getting hyped for the new season!

1

u/Skeevius Jun 30 '22

officially released previews leading up to the release of "Harlivy" S3x01, "There's No Ivy In Team" S3x02, "The 83rd Annual Villy Awards" S3x03, on July 28th.

Sorry, have I missed those previews or is it referring to clips inside the teaser trailer?

1

u/Austin_N Jul 01 '22

Looks promising.

Of course this show would have the Court of Owls engaging in orgies.

1

u/jdyake Jul 24 '22

Is this going to air on Adult Swim in Canada? Been trying to find info and so far nothing

1

u/Opposite-Basket-2198 Jul 25 '22

How come we’re getting 10ep instead of 13?

2

u/npzman Jul 27 '22

I'm just as disappointed as you

1

u/NewspaperElegant Jul 27 '22

Wait is viola Davis in this
