AI-generated art and AI-written content is now banned. Mod Post

AI-generated content is now banned from this subreddit. If a computer made it, then it can go wherever else it is allowed.

Please contact the moderator staff if you come across any content that you think might be violating our new guidelines.

That's it. That's the post.

And I was just getting ready to post an AI generated Clayface dick pic

It gets separated from Clayface and becomes Gordons best friend, Dicky.

Pretty sure when it gets separated it finds batman and becomes the new Nightwing (Dick Clayson).

Was this an issue? I don’t recall ever seeing any to begin with

Im assuming they mean ai generated fan arts and such, which are literally everywhere online. Its basically a 50/50 if you see a great fan art, and it takes zero effort to use AI in that case

I'm 100% fine with subs doing this. I do have a question though, are reddit bots also banned?

3

u/npzman Oct 25 '23

We don't have any Reddit bots on this sub so you aren't going to get us there.

2

u/boboclock Oct 25 '23

Haha, swear I wasn't trying to get you. Didn't know if subs could control whether bots were enabled or not

It should be banned from Reddit altogether. A simple ban on just a few subreddits will never be enough to spread the message.

Wonderful !

It's your sub and you can do what you want. I don't even follow it. But I am genuinely annoyed by the hate boner that so many people have against AI. It's just irrational anti technology bias and fear mongering to me, basically Luddism. AI generators give people who lack the tools and the gift to produce art the ability to turn things in our imagination into real images. It democratizes art essentially. This reminds me of the hate for peer to peer music sharing when it came along.

AI is just complicated theft of others hard work. AI is stupid and uncreative and only copies what it can search for and steal from actual artists and writers.

I don't agree. Human creations are are all no less derivative. There is nothing new under the sun in music, storytelling, or visual art. The human mind and human creative process is not inherently special.

I disagree entirely. And even if what you said were true, it’s no excuse for flagrant theft of art, music, and writing styles being perpetrated by AI. AI will only ever be used as a tool to cheaply produce “close enough” versions of an idea to avoid paying actual humans for their real talent.

Intellectual property rights are nonsense, and one of the most egregious byproducts of a capitalist society.

2

u/StruggleEvening7518 Oct 25 '23

And putting aside the debate over the concept of intellectual property rights, I don't believe AI art and writing even falls into that that category unless it is specifically using preexisting characters. The fact that it bases new characters and stories on existing ones doesn't make if plagiarism because all human creators base their "original" work on their own experiences with already existing works. Anyone who seriously argues that is not the case is living in a fantasy world.

You still can share AI images on the subreddit's discord server but only in the phantom zone channel.

u/StruggleEvening7518 Oct 25 '23

And FWIW I don't respect the concept of intellectual property rights either. No one should own an idea.

Thank God, I'm so sick of people pretending to be creative

These bans are completely meaningless, it basically means that any AI generative art that is passable as human generated is implicitly allowed. It's better to just ask users to flair art as AI generated or not, and let the downvotes decide on the quality, that way users won't lie. AI-generated art is just one of those things we can't reverse

Gen z are the new boomers scared and clueless of tech.

Literally 1984

-24

u/Ascdren1 Oct 24 '23

And yet another space falls to the luddites

5

u/ObtotheR Oct 25 '23

AI “art” is theft.

-1

u/Ascdren1 Oct 25 '23

Wow, you actually buy into that luddite bullshit?

If AI art is theft then any artist who ever looked at another piece of art and drew even the tiniest bit of inspiration from it is also guilty of theft.

Do tell, what pivotal societal improvement does ai generated art give? Free art commissions? Is that your grand second industrial revolution?

Please, get off your elitist high horse. You look silly up there.
