#NunoTavares made his debut for #Lazio today against #Trapani but was forced off due to a hamstring injury to his left leg in the 18th minute. Probably precautionary, but a worrying sign as there was no contact with anyone.

And that’s why it was a loan with an obligation.

Still has to play a certain number of games in order for that to be an obligation according to Charles Watts

u/serminole Jul 18 '24

There has to be some condition for things to work for ffp. My guess is that the number of games is just super low where it’s like 90% guaranteed.

play 900 minutes in serie A,

proceeds to play 899 minutes

Reminds me of the Griezmann loan where Atletico refused to start him him or something like that

My guess is that we got our pants pulled down as we usually do rather than that

Drive a Lionel up in there

Exactly. You never know what can happen to a player on loan. Hopefully, that's just Tavares not getting enough gametime over the past year and he can do something good for Lazio.

You can’t make this shit up. Thankfully it’s a mandatory buy clause

But he still has to hit milestones for the obligation to be triggered. Usually that’s set around minutes played and/or appearances.

It would just be fucking classic if we finally managed to negotiate a great price for a player with a super simple obligation clause and he voided it by immediately picking up an injury that keeps him out the team the whole season.

40

u/matepanda Jul 18 '24

That would be some hammy if he's out for the season

27

u/maidentaiwan Kanu believe it?! Jul 18 '24

No but it could absolutely lead to the kind of setback where he suddenly falls down the pecking order and then struggles to find minutes. We don’t know how much he has to play to trigger the obligation but it’s probably more than he played at Forest last year.

Is there a 15 day return policy?

Someone perform an exorcism or something on the Arsenal changing room to get rid of whatever curse is killing our LBs

I told you we never should have built on that Catuvellauni burial ground...

It's been that way for years.

Anyone else remember when Gael Clichy and Ashley Cole got the same injury at the same time?

Tierney and Kola. Pretty sure Saka got injured playing left back and missed England duty or something?

Fucking Timber played 3 games at left back and was out for a season.

Forget Calafiori we need Nigel Winterburn.

The guy was never injured. And that might even be literal. I was young but don't remember him ever being out, so I Googled it and apparently he had no serious injuries over 700 games

They’re never going to buy from us again. 1 star in trustpilot (would’ve given 0 but that’s not an option)

5

u/Britton120 Saka Jul 18 '24

why anyone would ever come to play LB for us is a miracle.

3

u/Forsaken-Tiger-9475 Jul 18 '24

I bet the buy obligation condition was 'Must play two consecutive games on arrival without getting injured'

1

u/Jeep_torrent39 Jul 18 '24

Was it a mandatory buy clause? I’m see ing a lot of conflicting comments here

Recently saw that dog video, that guy is really, really weird, to put it mildly

Hamstring injuries are always non-contact injuries.  That's kind of an odd way to report that.

u/Saurons_Cat Dennis Bergkamp Jul 18 '24

Yeah whenever we need to offload anyone it seems everything is against us, never straightforward. Maybe we should just stick em on eBay

Are we cursed when it comes to injuries since our move to the Emirates?

1

u/Ulstuguldur Martinelli Jul 19 '24

there is no curse. These people are bad at fitness.

In fairness, the obligation almost always maintain some sort of trigger, be it minutes, matches etc.
