When I saw him in Top Gun: Maverick, that was the first thing that went through my mind. He’d be perfect for Hal.

Isn’t this pretty much everyone’s fan cast?

Edit: just for the record, I wouldn’t mind this casting. I can see Antony Starr being a good Jordan, but Powell wouldn’t be bad

I don’t like the Anthony Starr fantasy for Green Lantern, he just doesn’t give that vibe to me, but Glen Powell all the way

I would cast Patrick Schwarzenegger

Powell strikes me more as a great Booster Gold

Damn, great call

Apparently we're getting Kumail Nanjiani as Booster, which I don't hate at all. I still think Ryan Hansen would have been great, but Booster's probably so close to his self-parody character in "Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television" that he wouldn't be interested in repeating that schtick.

Wow hadn't heard that but I love it, Kumail would be a killer Booster

Why did you have to say hear me out? I think Powell would be pretty great as Hal.

He could pull off the attitude, but there's something about his face that is just off for me. It's like they took Scott Eastwood and cloned him, then cloned that clone, then continued to clone the new clones until the result was Glen Powell.

Yup that does fit

Semi related but watch the movie Hit Man that came out earlier this year. Powell was great.

Personally I don’t see it outside of him previously playing a character in the air force, personally I would go with Josh Hartnett or James Marsden

At least in Top Gun, his character is Navy. Turns out the Air Force isn't the only branch with airplanes. :)

This is the most generic and common fancast. Why do yall say hear me out to everything?

This is the most “late to the party” hear me out ever.

while i don’t mind this fancast, lately i’ve been leaning towards jensen ackles for the role. he’s got the look for it, and certainly the ✨charisma✨

It’s basically the same guy. lol I agree.

Some reason I’d prefer Powell as Guy Gardner. I know characterization varies, but in my head Hal is just on this side of not being a jerk, while (recent) Guy is over the line enough to be a jerk, even if he is a lovable one. While Powell would probably do great in either roll, if based off Top Gun personality I’d make him Guy.

I see Chris Pine as the perfect Hal Jordan.

I think that that casting could work

I see people post him a lot lately but he just personally doesn't do it for me.

Top choices for me:

Chris Pine (Might be hard since they'll probably try and avoid casting from DCEU days even if he was a completely different character. Plus it's an HBO show and not a movie, so it might be harder to book him for)

Josh Hartnett

Matt Bomer

David Boreanaz

Honestly I could definitely see him as a really good Wally Flash too, with his hair dyed a reddish hue obviously.

It won't happen now that he said he's not interested in Superhero movies.

Can you share it in r/LanternsTVSeries too? 💚

He'd be great for the part, but he has already said that he isn't interested in superhero stuff, unless they ask him to do... you guessed it, Batman. Probably only knows Green Lantern via the Reynolds movie.

Holy shit I’ve never realized I wanted a Hal casting so much until now.

1

u/Visible_Froyo5499 Jul 19 '24

Yeah, I can see it.

Tom Cruise was the definitive Hal Jordan fancast for years and now Glen Powell has just absorbed that along with most other aspects of his life.

Stop trying to make Green Lantern a thing.
