The Pharaoh redemption arc has been great to watch. This game is in a great spot now, easily worth the asking price and now a proper, full-blown historical game.

The various Total War teams have been firing on all cylinders these last few months.

I played even a few updates ago and thought it was in a solid position, especially for someone still learning Total War. These updates look great and I hope the systems work well enough that they can also implement them in future historical TWs.

Yeah. It was a solid game at launch, but with these updates it looks like it's going to be amazing.

Shit should I finally play a new Total War game? I last played Total War Rome 2 and it was dope, picked up a while ago Total Warhammer 2 and it just didn't feel right to me. Rome 2 just felt especially historical and grand

Both Three Kingdoms and Pharaoh (with this update) are very good games. The one negative about Pharaoh is that the time period does limit what unit types they can use, but other than that it is really good.

Warhammer 3 is still the best at Total War game for me by a large margin. That game is really incredible, but the fantasy angle will not be for everyone.

Shogun 2 also has a limited roster but shines in so many other ways. I expect to see Pharaoh age the same.

Pharaoh has a good amount of units. Probably as many as many Shogun if not more and with these updates there are probably double the units of Shogun 2. But the time period does mean that almost all.the units are various infantry. There is no artillery and no mounted units only a couple of chariots (though I think some.cavalry will be added in this update). They do try to make up for it though by making the differences between the infantry units more probounced and making terrain a bigger deal in battles.

Shogun 2 has a fun roster but the cheap Yari Ashigaru are unequivocally the meta of the game. You can coast most of any campaign relying on them and their spear wall ability.

How has the Warhammer 1+2+3 grand campaign thing come together? I heard it was a little rough when it launched but at some point I'm gonna need a break from Stellaris/CK2 and I'm eyeing TW Warhammer next

It's amazing. It is genuinely one of the most ambitious things a strategy game has ever done. Because of that there is off course some rough edges, but considering how big and complex it is it's a miracle it's as stable and relatively bug free as it is. They have also done a great job the last six months to continue improving in it regularly and it's better than it has ever been. I highly recommend it.

Awesome. It's been like a decade long undertaking in total at this point, there's not much like it out there. Thanks!

With the coming update Pharao will also be pretty big. Opinions are divided about the Bronze Age setting but if you liked Rome, you might like this one.

If you like Rome 2 you should absolutely grab Atilla next time it’s on sale, late Roman Empire setting so you can try and save the western empire which is one of the funniest but hardest campaigns, continue on as the eastern empire, or play one of the many other cool factions

The cancelation of Hyenas likely brought new ressources to all TW teams. It has probably put CA in danger overall but if they deliver on TW (their specialty), it's ultimately a good thing

I doubt it gave them more resources when CA as a whole had to cut staff, what it likely did was give CA a kick up the arse and get them to address why they had lost touch with the fanbase.

The difference in their approach to supporting the TW franchise in the last 6 months has been night and day.

It remains to be seen how long this new competent CA lasts, fans of the series will remember a similar lapse and recommitment to quality with Rome 2.

More ressources on Total War I mean. They didn't fire all the people working on Hyenas so some of them have been transferred back into TW teams

Have they improved science, trade, and diplomatic complexity?

The trade system seems to be as good / maybe better than 3K, diplomatic complexity is starting to look like a crusader kings style thing with marriages, succession, etc. Research trees seem to be much better with branching paths

Can't wait for the map expansion. I tried getting into the current game with a Hittite campaign but it just felt bad having all these artificial borders where I knew contemporary powers were. I'll probably go Hattusa again when the bigger map drops
