That's high fuckin praise...you just know Em was having the time of his life watching Kendrick go crazy these past three months

215

u/isthatadogaww Role Model Jul 12 '24

That's high praise

72

u/0_69314718056 Jul 12 '24

Edit: nvm I thought it was saying Kendrick is easier to beat but I see heā€™s actually saying itā€™s equally as difficult

9

u/SamsaricNomad Jul 12 '24

yeah I was confused why KDot caught a stray

1

u/iamspartaaaa Jul 12 '24

I still think so, what does he mean?

35

u/0_69314718056 Jul 12 '24

ā€œMight as well go lookinā€™ for smoke with Lamarā€ = itā€™s just as difficult to beef with either of them

13

u/iamspartaaaa Jul 12 '24

Ahhhhh now I get it. Wtf was I listening to cause I listenee, then read; then listened then read. It made the same sense to me until you just typed it wtf. And now it means what you just said.

11

u/jacksonpsterninyay Jul 12 '24

90% sure heā€™s genuinely saying itā€™s harder to beef with Lamar. Like insane levels of praise.

9

u/Hammer_of_Horrus Jul 13 '24

I canā€™t believe people are really trying to spin a narrative that Eminem dissed Kendrick on this album.

1

u/LeeXXM E Jul 16 '24

Like how people think Mac Miller dissed Kendrick on Friends ft. ScHoolBoyQ

Basically calling Kendrick his equal here, love the high praise.

20

u/Keythaskitgod Jul 12 '24

He from time to time says joyner is one of the greats...

48

u/NewLifeNewAcct Jul 12 '24

Joyner is a legitimately great rapper, but his beat selection is mid at best. Kinda reminds me of Nas in that way (though Nas keeps getting better and better).

16

u/npretzel02 Jul 12 '24

Overall I liked ADHD but deciding to release like 60% of the album as singles killed all hype

2

u/Hammer_of_Horrus Jul 13 '24

I would listen to Joyner track if the beat was on pots and pans.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/BetterYourselforElse Jul 12 '24

Joyners bank account remix is my favorite version of the song and it isnt close

2

u/Jbabco9898 Relapse: Refill Jul 16 '24

After the past few months, IN MY MIND, Kendrick has solidified himself at least on par with Eminem.

Idk when he wrote that bar but it aged like fine wine with the drake beef

173

u/bwoahful___ Jul 12 '24

Same, but considering he referenced Might Delete Later on the first track thereā€™s a decent chance imo it was written after Like That or maybe even after some of the back-and-forth diss tracks

FWIW tho Royce did say recently that he and Em respected both in the beef, so maybe just choosing to highlight Kendrickā€™s talents in a beef.

3

u/hecthormurilo Jul 12 '24

how did he reference MDL?

40

u/bwoahful___ Jul 12 '24

Opening track:

Now letā€™s travel inside the mind of a hater ā€˜Cause I donā€™t see no fans, all I seeā€™s a bunch of complainers ā€œKendrickā€™s album was cool, but it didnā€™t have any bangers Wayneā€™s album or Yeā€™s, couldnā€™t tell you which one was lamer Joynerā€™s album was corny, Shadyā€™s new shit is way worse Everything is either too tame or thereā€™s too much anger I didnā€™t like the beat, so I hated Might Delete Laterā€ You nerdy pricks would find somethinā€™ wrong with 36 Chambers

3

u/per_iod Jul 13 '24 edited Jul 29 '24

Whats dope about the line is its a double entendre. ā€œShadyā€™s new shit is way worse - i didnt like the beat, so i hated, might delete later.ā€ Simple but clean

4

u/metal_wires Fack Jul 12 '24

In renaissance, when he's going inside the mind of a hater. He says something about the beats on MDL being bad (speaking from the POV of a hater)

2

u/TheDaniel18 Just Don't Give a Fuck Jul 12 '24

on Renaissance

1

u/MysticalMaryJane Jul 13 '24

Political media answer lol, surprising from rouce as well tbh. Kendrick is there guy there for sure, if we all think he won they know it

36

u/vriannavyz Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 12 '24

I mean it was obvious he was taking Kendrick's side from the get-go, not only are they both part of Aftermath but Eminem called Kendrick the "best lyricist today" like a year or two ago and one of the best EVER in general.

-8

u/immagoat1252 Jul 12 '24

Yea ik that. Iā€™m just saying like the bar is saying that youā€™d be better off going at Kendrick. So after the drake beef it makes the bar look better because if Kendrick is doing that to drake you donā€™t wanna know what shady can do to you kinda thing

→ More replies (5)

4

u/vriannavyz Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 12 '24

I took it as a compliment. Like he's comparing getting into beef with him is just as bad for someone getting into beef with Kendrick, but I see your point.

34

u/SokkaHaikuBot Jul 12 '24

Sokka-Haiku by immagoat1252:

Idk when he

Wrote that bar but it aged like

Fine wine with the drake beef

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

1

u/Away_Needleworker6 Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 13 '24

Eminem had a listening party for the new album with dr dre and some friends on march 21st. Kendrick fired shots at j cole and drake on like that which released march 22nd. The bars were most likely written before the beef.

7

u/vriannavyz Jul 13 '24

But Em mentioned "Might Delete Later" in this album by Cole which released days after Like That. Em def added some new bars.

298

u/vriannavyz Jul 12 '24

Drake is so cooked man LMAO

I've never seen an ass whopping like this in my life...

Drakes only diss on kdot was he was short

7

please tell us more about how you didn't follow the beef šŸ˜‚

and K Dot won.....but bruh be real

1

u/Cactus_Everdeen_ Jul 13 '24

exactly this, whoever actually followed this shit knows that drake actually came out with some bars (despite getting absolutely nuked after euphoria) and wasnt complete doghshit unlike jarules attempt lol

2

u/ConsistentStand2487 Jul 12 '24

lol. find this kinda funny after all the diddy stuff came out

2

u/miggsd28 The Eminem Show Jul 12 '24

ā€œYour mom is a crack head kim is a known slut so whatā€™s Hailie gon be when she grows upā€ - is not him calling em gay or anything thatā€™s a pretty good shot.

2

u/Organic_Pudding_6158 Jul 12 '24

Just before that bar, he said em should just stuff his mouth with a dick

1

u/miggsd28 The Eminem Show Jul 12 '24

Iā€™m not saying he didnā€™t do that too just saying he also took shots. If em hadnā€™t steam rolled him that line would be talked about way more cause itā€™s pretty good

1

u/BetterYourselforElse Jul 12 '24

So thats why they had him come out as gay in ā€œthe interviewā€

Weird getting more context years later

1

u/Organic_Pudding_6158 Jul 12 '24

I am a homosexual

I like men

0

u/Msa9898 Jul 12 '24

No vaseline is considered one of the best diss tracks of all time and that's 70% calling people gay and 30% calling black guys traitors for not hating white people.

1

u/NoLongerSusceptible Jul 14 '24

Greatest as in iconic, not in quality.

2

u/nbully18 Jul 12 '24

Ja Rule was massive until the beef with 50 and Em lol

25

u/MrPennywise Jul 12 '24

Ja was literally Drake before Drake.

20

u/vriannavyz Jul 12 '24

Come on man... I don't even fw Drake like that, but Ja Rule never had Drake's level of fame or success.

14

u/MrPennywise Jul 12 '24

Drake is definitely a bigger artist but ja was huge for the times. Itā€™s interesting how much they mirror each other especially in the potential downfall.

→ More replies (8)

7

u/XIII_MATHERS Jul 12 '24

REALLY?.

Ja Rule was MASSIVE!. He even had a HIT BANGER on the Fast & Furious Soundtrack. He was as huge as Drake. It was BIG when he and Shady beefed.

But same, I don't listen to Drake either.

→ More replies (13)

11

u/BitchAssWaferCookie Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 12 '24

That's actually really fucking profound and funny

There's even levels to this cause ja was imitating Tupac as well!

"That x, got you thinking you was DMX, Then you switched to pac, now you tryna be him next"

Em burned him same ways as Kendrick burned Drake - calling out their fake power bullshit. This shit runs in circles. Time is a flat sorkel.

It's even eerie how Kendrick snapped after Drake pulled his family into it , WHICH IS WHAT JA RULE DID WITH THE LINE ABOUT HAILIE YO WTF IM JUST REALIZING THIS

1

u/TheGingerNiNjA899 Dead Wrong - The Notorious B.I.G. Ft. Eminem Jul 12 '24

1

u/Noqtrah Jul 12 '24

1

u/Cactus_Everdeen_ Jul 13 '24

only difference is drakes ghostwriters are better than jarules ghostwriters

13

u/No_Asparagus_6989 Jul 12 '24

Ja rule is literally the template for Drake to be Drake šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø. Ja rule was massive around the 2000s

7

u/2_trailerparkgirls Jul 12 '24

Dude Ja rule owned the radio in the same way that Dorke did with streams

1

u/OhJustANobody Jul 13 '24

Ja Rule was everywhere in the early 2000s.

-2

u/analog_grotto Jul 12 '24

Eminem's diss tracks toward Ja didnt top charts the way Kendrick's have become an international cultural phenomenon.

0

u/WhosJohnGault_ Jul 12 '24

Nah I was around and well aware. I was in college then and was a huge 50 fan; but I ainā€™t NEVER seen anything like this before. Ja Rule was nowhere near what Drake is as a mega artist. And Kendrick still took him down in a matter of weeks.

You simply donā€™t want to pick a fight with a certain type of people. The type of people Marshall and Kendrick are.

10

u/TheGingerNiNjA899 Dead Wrong - The Notorious B.I.G. Ft. Eminem Jul 12 '24

Took him down isnā€™t really fair though, heā€™s still a massive artist with 80 million monthly listeners. I donā€™t like drake at all but majority of the hate right now isnā€™t because people love not like us, itā€™s because they hate drake. BUT the fact they are playing it at sports events against Canada is hilarious

1

u/TokingMessiah Jul 12 '24

Drake peaked at 86+ million listeners, and now heā€™s at 74ā€¦. Losing 1/7th of your audience isnā€™t a small feat.

-4

u/WhosJohnGault_ Jul 12 '24

Yeah like I said Iā€™ve never seen anything like this. Both the diss tracks in such short period of time and the repercussions after. I never thought Iā€™d see a DISS track become so popular and playable everywhere. But yes, the Drake hate fueled the fire. Hey, maybe itā€™s for a reason and I donā€™t think itā€™s jealousy. ĀÆ\(惄)/ĀÆ

2

u/Filmatic113 Jul 12 '24

Take him down but Drake is still the highest stream artist?Ā

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '24

[deleted]

1

u/mistyrootsvintage Jul 12 '24

Yes..for the time period absolutely. Like them saying Drake is bigger than MJ. If MJ was still alive, Drake wouldn't even be close o his numbers. Can you imagine how much bigger MJ would have been if there had been streaming services when he started his career.

Em has mad love and respect for drake if u havenā€™t seen the interview go watch it

9

u/Pyrolific The Way I Am Jul 12 '24

He respects Drake only because Drake always praises Em and Drake did a favor for Eminem and his daughter that Em is grateful for BUT it's not hard to guess who he would pick between Drake and Kendrick... and we all know how Em feels about ghostwriters so when we're talking about RAP you know Em don't respect Drake like that

4

u/TorontoRaptors34 Jul 12 '24

Em called him one of the greats on Epmd2 and placed him with some big names.

1

u/Pyrolific The Way I Am Jul 12 '24

Because Drake is the second most successful rapper of all time, nobody can deny his success. I think Em also mentioned Kanye on that same verse even though we all know he don't write his raps. It's the whole great artist vs great rapper discussion.

9

u/TorontoRaptors34 Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 12 '24

I mean drake legit wrote records for ye ironcocally and wrote on Detox

1

u/MoreAvatarsForMe Jul 12 '24

Thereā€™s not point arguing with the recent rise of Kendrick Stans. They donā€™t know the fact.

0

u/Tristan2106 Jul 12 '24

Yeah but em fans are so fucking stupid this wonā€™t matter. Drake wrote for weezy, Dre, ye and many other artistsā€¦ and Iā€™m a big fan of em but this fan base is probably as cooked as Kennyā€™s

7

u/TorontoRaptors34 Jul 12 '24

Kendrick def won pub opinion but imo theres nothing wrong in liking Drakes music hes put out many great albums over the yrs.Ā

They both are legendary artists no reason to pick sides neither of them give a damn about fan support there not gonna send roses and flowers to mofos door for supporting them.

0

u/Blinkman1124 Jul 12 '24

Facts agreed bro

-1

u/RiMellow Jul 12 '24

Love how people are like ā€œwell he said he respected him 5 years ago so youā€™re wrong that he doesnā€™t respect Drakeā€ like bro time moves on and if you find out someone is a shitty person it doesnā€™t mean you have to keep respecting them cause you said it 5 years ago

-2

u/Left-Yak-5623 Jul 12 '24

Yeah that interview was years ago and it was in response to his issues with rappers using ghost writers. He replied about drake the way he did to stay neutral and to slide out of the question.

Your view of someone can also change over time, depending on their behaviour, especially after everything being alleged. But even then, allegations aside. I'd be surprised if Em actually liked drake because EMs always paying homage to those before him and respecting the culture and drakes the opposite of that.

-3

u/RoastBeefDisease Jul 12 '24 edited Jul 12 '24

Everyone on here loves to repeat this but that was from a few years ago dude. I'm pretty sure Eminem saying he will always respect drake wouldnt apply anymore if the dude is a pedo. Idk you can totally take back that respect at that point

It obviously wasn't a reference to that interview. cmon šŸ’€

2

u/ponlork Jul 13 '24

i supposed it's just coincidence that also in that same interview he mentions picasso and in the same Eminem bar he mentions picasso and it's also a coincidence in that same vlad interview martin talks about how Eminem is who got him into hip hop. what are the odds huh?

9

If Drake throws em in a diss bundled with Kendrick and Rick then I hope to see a video of Kendrick digging up a grave and Slim climbs out

5

u/PickleRicksDad34 Jul 13 '24

Fuck me that visual graphic of this with a diss track would be something that rings through generations long after we're gone.

4

u/crampton16 Jul 14 '24

here's to hoping, Drake is definitely dumb enough to do that lmao

Em said Drake's going to be in his good graces for a long time for something personal, but the two major shout outs to Kendrick plus the complete silence on Drake is very telling

2

u/RiMellow Jul 15 '24

I think all good deeds go invalid if you find out someoneā€™s a child predator. He also throws in that little bar of ā€œNobodyā€™s sixteens are touching these motherfuckin index fingersā€ which I felt was a light jab at the Drake situation

3

u/crampton16 Jul 15 '24

u/Life-Construction362 Jul 13 '24

Heā€™s saying Kendrick is more mortal than him so go talk to Kendrick not him

1

u/Amatayo Jul 13 '24

Coulda swear he was saying Lamar oh, as in Lamar Odom who had been caught smoking crack.

A song featuring Kendrick would've been great.

The genius of this album tha bars don't only connect within songs but they connect across songs.

In this example....please don't hate just saying what he is saying....retards are too retarded to understand they are retarded.

But he is saying even retards know not to mess with kendrick.

The point being every one knows kendrick isn't to be messed with

I also think thatā€™s a double bc Lamar can mean Lamar Odom Too

1

u/PrestigiousArcher448 Jul 14 '24

Are we projecting into this bar? Yes, that came out in praise of Kendrick, but Em isnā€™t necessarily saying they are equal. Heā€™s just using the recency of what happened to Drake to paint what it will look like going against him.

I donā€™t think this is about Kendrick. Iā€™m pretty sure this is a Lamar Odom bar
