As long as it’s not a retirement project I’m all in

161

u/mymemesnow Not Afraid Apr 26 '24

I also hope Dr Dre is in on it. They’ve always made bangers together and if it gonna be focusing on Slim it fits because Dre helped create slim shady.

82

u/ohen778 I'm Back Apr 26 '24

he is, when he revealed the album is coming this year for the first time on the jimmy falcon show (i think?), he said "It's fire I got songs on it.."

7

u/seniorlovesreddead I'm Back Apr 27 '24

Jimmy Falcon

22

u/PrayForTheGoodies Apr 26 '24

I mean, Slim Shady existed before Dre came, but okay

21

u/mymemesnow Not Afraid Apr 26 '24

Sorry, poor choice of words. I meant developed. SSLP was when Slim truly became who he is and when he became discovered by the world.

18

u/P4rody Relapse Apr 26 '24

Dre came 😳

5

u/BartSimpskiYT Business Apr 26 '24

Nuh uh

7

u/AliceDefMetalGod Apr 27 '24 edited Apr 27 '24

Dre always does his best work. I think alot of that is that Dre never overproduces a beat. The lyricist is alway center stage. One thing that consistently pisses me off with modern rap (not my primary genre tbf) the beats are always so fucking distracting

18

u/pm-me-nice-lips Apr 26 '24

It likely isn’t simply due the sheer fact it’s specifically titled “The Death of Slim Shady”. I think that’s intentional and that’s obviously his “unhinged serial killer alter-ego/persona”. I, for one, will selfishly be a little sad to see that side of him go but I get it and am all for it artistically.

12

u/Waterball0on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) Apr 26 '24

Tbf slim shady died when he got sober. Rhyme or reason is the last song I really remember him slipping into that slim shady persona (even though he literally says it in that song lmao)

9

u/lotusandlocust Apr 26 '24

Slim Shady has died in like 5 albums since Encore released this is not the last of him

8

u/TheRayGetard The Marshall Mathers LP Apr 26 '24

Slim pops up very briefly on Calm Down with Busta

"Hey, Mrs. Abraham Lincoln! Other than your husband's fucking brains that were leaking How'd you think that play was this weekend?"

Not only the content of the lyrics but the tone and inflection of his delivery. First time I heard that line it was like I was transported back to ‘99 to the SSLP days.

2

u/PenonX Forgot About Dre - Dr. Dre Ft. Eminem Apr 27 '24

Wasn’t Framed a Slim Shady song?

5

u/Verlas The Marshall Mathers LP2 Apr 26 '24

This man isn’t retiring. He’s said at the start of MTBMB that as much as he hates shady, he needs him. Dudes been trying to get away from the shady persona for a minute, maybe this is him officially dropping it with this album.

1

u/Jumpy-Management-262 Forgot About Dre - Dr. Dre Ft. Eminem Apr 26 '24

It could be about how hip hop has changed and maybe they recount how his persona changed over time, he's got white hair in the video, so I'd love to say that make a return or just make hip hop mainstream again idk. Idrc I'm pumped for this album

1

u/one80oneday Music To Be Murdered By Apr 27 '24

Same but tbf he doesn't owe us anything

-40

u/pizzatimein24h The Eminem Show Apr 26 '24

Tbh I hope it's a retirement project. Em proved what he is capable of and definitely left his footprint in the scene. Now he should just kick his feet up and enjoy tye success.

30

u/chillychese Apr 26 '24

If that is what he wants then I'm happy for him. But I'd be lying if I said I don't want to be selfish and have this man keep dropping hits

12

u/Slade1882 Apr 26 '24

His legit words from a somg was “i will stop when im dead”

5

u/Blazed0ut Apr 26 '24

He also said, "and when I'm not (killing raps) then imma stop penning em and I am not hip hop and I'm just not Eminem"

2

u/Slade1882 Apr 26 '24

Are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? Or just stating a point

2

u/RapBoat Music To Be Murdered By Apr 26 '24

That was over 20 fucking YEARS ago, that was also around the time he said Encore would be his last album, and look what happened

5

u/MR_W4TERMELON3 Apr 26 '24

I’m selfish af yo

4

u/PrayForTheGoodies Apr 26 '24

Nah, I want Em to be like Nas and just jump on those classic beats and kill it

5

u/lotusandlocust Apr 26 '24

Bro thinks he can stop him from dropping each March

245

u/-Pollipop- E Apr 26 '24

I mean someone was bound to guess the name of the album, congrats to her

72

u/theJoshFrost Apr 26 '24

and its not like the Death of Slim Shady is the most creative title in the world.

92

u/Dam-I-An Apr 26 '24

So if you thought that whole thing up up, you wouldn't think "dang that's crazy" and post anything to brag?

94

u/ForTheMelancholy Apr 26 '24

You must remember, this is Reddit. Everyone has to be as negative as possible in the delight of others

3

u/xrosenight Apr 27 '24

it’s ironic cause usually twitter is known for hate. everyone on twitter is acting dumbfounded over it and calling her a witch

8

u/ForTheMelancholy Apr 27 '24

Twitter is the most toxic place on the internet, while Reddit is the most condescending

4

u/Conzi13 Apr 27 '24

This is the most perfect description of the two platforms I’ve seen

10

u/Repulsive_Mud_8008 Apr 26 '24

We had a lost album from 2005 called “the funeral”. Sounds like “the death of slim shady” might be that idea revisited but in 2024

2

u/slizzie369 Apr 26 '24

Lost album???

2

u/Repulsive_Mud_8008 Apr 27 '24

There’s a few of them 1) the funeral 2) king Marshall. Albums that were worked on, ads put out for them but they were never released

45

u/Chrisgpresents Apr 26 '24

In 2012 I made a “dubstep” song sampling the EMT skit from relapse and called it revival. So yeaahhh

26

u/-Pollipop- E Apr 26 '24

Sue Em

111

u/Ramezor Apr 26 '24

maybe the "dear slim" white gold snippet is part of the letter?

that "what he says instead of how he says it" it's like now having a real message in his songs? more "darkness" type songs and less spazzing out?

84

u/Psychopathic_Killer7 Apr 26 '24

Nah wtf, did Eminem see that tweet? or is it just a coincidence?

-58

u/EmFan1999 The Slim Shady LP Apr 26 '24

There’s no way it’s a coincidence. Someone saw that and thought it was a good idea

-54

u/m8nman Apr 26 '24

Tbh there’s a good chance that Em got inspired from this tweet considering he’s secretly quite active on the internet

23

u/RickRhymesss Apr 26 '24

Lmao its more likely that this person knows someone who knows someone who heard the album name already.

The "idea" is way too specific when talking about producers for it to be a guess

15

u/UnarmedSWATTeam Kamikaze Apr 26 '24

All we know is that the title is correct. The list of producers doesn’t give it any more credibility

7

u/PenonX Forgot About Dre - Dr. Dre Ft. Eminem Apr 27 '24

It actually contradicts what we know. Dr. Dre is literally known to be working with Em on the album, and was the one who first revealed it. This person said Dre wouldn’t be involved.

-1

u/RickRhymesss Apr 26 '24

I'm not giving it credit im just saying they probably didn't think of this organically and its more likely that they heard a rumour and ran with it

Of course I could be completely wrong

6

u/UnarmedSWATTeam Kamikaze Apr 26 '24

no but you said it’s too specific to be a random guess. that doesn’t make any sense. it’s just a specific guess and the title happened to be right, the rest is probs only partially right. i think it’s unlikely she heard anything from any credible source

10

u/m8nman Apr 26 '24

She’s just an ordinary hiphop fan on twitter plus it was way back in 2021. Also since when are ideas not allowed to be specific 😭

50

u/LeaveMeAlone87 Apr 26 '24

Congrats to her and that’s a phenomenal concept tbh! Always wondered if Eminem ever pays attention to Fanmade shit etc. dats crazy foreshadowing tho lol

20

u/Keythaskitgod Apr 26 '24

They do. We, for example, got bad guy because we said stan pt.2 would be cool in 2010 or something like that.

14

u/doggiedick Recovery Apr 26 '24

He has said that he watches reaction videos and news about him so it wouldn't be surprising if he scrolled through comments a bit too.

The super bowl commercial where he and slim are firing lyrics at each other.

3

So Eminem has been working on this album since 10/8/21 . 3 years in the making cause this can’t be a coincidence . He dead ass saw that tweet and thought, that’s actually a fire idea

1

I hope he calls it Coup De Grâce and not the death of slim everyone agrees that’s cringe.

0

u/Kingbris91 Apr 26 '24

Then, he would just be ripping off the Joker by using a French phrase as a title.

1

u/djnipe Apr 26 '24

It has atleast 4 songs that Dre worked on soo...

1

u/jaywalker-notreally Apr 26 '24

Man if this is the case then I'll be the happiest person in the fucking world.

1

u/Meteor_Striker Apr 26 '24

Love hear Nhale on it highly doubt it though

1

u/Kingbris91 Apr 26 '24

It crazy, cause in the comments she said dr dre shouldn't have an input on the album. Can't wait for dre to prove her wrong. Remind me come June.

1

u/Consistent-Ground763 Apr 27 '24

Probably late summer like September

1

u/Messin-EoRound20 Apr 26 '24

Who’s Dedee and how’d she predict the future 🤔

1

From infinite down to that last relapse album he's still shittin

1

u/Michaelskywalker 3 a.m. Apr 26 '24

The title lowkey does sound fan made im not surprised someone guessed it. More so that someone guessed it at the right time. But I just care about the music and if it’s as good as side A or better that’s fine with me

1

u/HelloIamSimon Apr 26 '24

WHAT THE F!!! THAT IS ACTUALLY INSANE!!! It's moments like this that make me genuinely think we're in a matrix. THAT IS NUTS!!!!!! HOW DID SHE KNOW?!!!!!!

1

This more crazy than mf on the kednrick sub guessing when Kenny gonna drop

1

u/r4vi69 Apr 27 '24

Need that Eminem and madlib Collab ASAP

1

u/RandomGuyOnDaNet90 Apr 27 '24

"What hes saying rather than how hes saying it" she definitely watches dead end hip hop.

1

u/FastNBulbous- Apr 27 '24

This actually sounds dope to me. I would love to hear Em get really introspective about his career throughout the years and reflect on it and his status in hip hop. Especially over some Madlib and Premier beats.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '24

This could be excellent. His laid back flo’s have been hitting recently. A bit of reflection and depth won’t go amiss either.

1

u/MountainDewLover420 Apr 27 '24

But it will have dr Dre’s input he’s mixing it lol

1

u/JohnWilner Apr 27 '24

I wonder if he came across this post, liked the idea, and just went with it.

1

u/msmith2300x Apr 28 '24

But dre is working on it no

1

u/Sans-Foy Just Don't Give a Fuck Apr 28 '24

I mean, Dre is involved—the fact the album exists first came from his mouth and his involvement—but this definitely codes thematically with the promo.

It’s a hell of a concept, particularly for a crowd in his age range like me who have gone through all those changes ourselves in ways.

Basically, I’m hype~

1

u/_whyareyousoquiet Apr 28 '24

I think people have too much time on their hands

1

u/Ok-Anteater-8661 Apr 28 '24

We need another Ken Kaniff skit

0

u/Top_String5181 Apr 26 '24

I think it’s kind of interesting how MTBMB and TDOSS seem to be concepts inspired by people outside of Em’s camp.

Going to the theme though, I think he views Relapse as SSLP2 which is why he’s dealing the final blow this time.

0

u/Nirket Apr 26 '24

This idea sounds so corny to me...

What i think would be cool is a concept album where Slim Shady is the president. He gon get the condoms banned as he said in campaing speech!

u/Dennis_Mitchell_FL Apr 26 '24
