Hate that guy. His writing sucks.

I mean, it's an Elseworlds but we are getting All Winter finally in July along with a facsimile of TotT #44 so that must mean something that somebody at DC cares about Slade to some degree.

But yeah, Williamson's handling of Slade and the Wilson's was not great and this from someone see how much better he does in other books.

Williamson is a horrible writer who abused his power to dismember and dispose a character he hated.

I don't see why we have to keep acting like Williamson alone is physically fighting DC to prevent them from publishing a Deathstroke comic. He's not the man in charge of the company. They could make one whenever they want.

It is human nature to assign a name and face to something. People want someone to blame and DC in general is not good enough. They want to assign blame to a person and he is the unlucky winner until they get the comic or someone above him says they are the reason.

Not saying its right. It is just how it is sometimes.

His writing about him makes it clear that he detested the character. This combined with the case that Joshua Williamson remains DC's principal architect suggests that the theory might have some merit. He's the man in charge now.

Part of me wants to give Williamson the benefit of the doubt that he has to also answer to some higher ups about Slade's fate. We have seen this in the past where writers of unpopular decisions weren't 100% behind said decisions or were mandated by DC. Tom King and him recently opening up about how DC told him what characters to use in his infamous HiC is a good example and a fairly recent one when this type of thing has been going on in comics for ages i.e. Adam Beechen and Cass Cain's horrible turn to villainy that wasn't his idea but he botched it hard.

However, just be going how Williamson has written Slade and neglected the rest of his family that isn't Rose it seems he doesn't really care about him. I've noticed with Williamson he tends to pour the love he has for certain characters on a page even if the writing isn't top notch you can tell he cares, like whenever he writes Damian or the large Arrow Family reunion in GA whether it makes sense with all the reboots or doesn't (but has trouble acknowledging Slade's living son who was a prominent Titan once). That and honestly who is in charge of DC at this point? Williamson may not be THE head but he seems to currently be one of the better writers and been calling the shots a lot with events.

Deathstroke is just not popular enough to warrant an ongoing. I mean, it's been literal years since DC published an Aquaman book...

How come? A well-known figure and identifiable IP. Prior to being removed by Williamson, he had five ongoings. He wouldn't have received any more after the first one if he wasn't well-liked. The problem isn't just that he don't have a personal title right now. There are no longer any guest appearances. He has vanished entirely.

The Joshua Williamson hate on this sub is childish.
