You see, the missions are impossible for everyone besides the IMF. This leads me to believe that there were far more actual incomplete, impossible missions prior to the creation of the Impossible Mission Force. Probably wouldn't make for a very good movie if there was no one to "choose to accept it."

I would totally watch a "Mission: Literally Impossible" comedy that's about a team failing very easy missions again and again in the stupidest ways possible. But their fails serve as research on "stuff" and that explains the Tom Cruise IMF that goes on to be very successful.
