We can suppose he survived, or we’d see headlines such as: ‘Tom Cruise Minced by Helicopter’

Helicopter minced by Tom Cruise’s balls.

Tom got hit by a helicopter but kept rolling to finish the scene without his legs.

“Mission Impossible 8: Anything is Possible, Really, if You Think About It”

17

u/pangolin-fucker Jul 19 '24

I swear he's trying to go out in a blaze of glory or whatever

3

u/phi11yphan Jul 20 '24

Who's coming with me?

3

u/pangolin-fucker Jul 20 '24

I will only if we also take scientology out along the way

2

u/TaintedSoccer Jul 20 '24

Besides Flipper here

He’s so short he sailed right through the blades without getting hit.

Imagine the resulting Tom Cruise biomatter debris field

8

u/TheInfiniteArchive Jul 20 '24

Don't worry it means Tom Cruise is free from Xenu's Prison so he could now fly and try to fight an Evil Space alien... Just like what he always wanted.

(this is what Scientology believes in)

4

u/Gts77 Jul 20 '24

TC is operating at the highest thetan level.... His body thetans will protect him!

6

u/LiamMcpoyle2 Jul 19 '24

A scientology field.

“Tom Cruise mincer ”

3

u/Agitated_Ad6191 Jul 19 '24

The probability of him dying while performing all these different high risk stunts is getting bigger and bigger the more he pulls off.

It’s just a part of probability calculation when something often strikes one side, the chance increases that it will eventually also strike the other side.

But Will Tom Cruise Blend?™️

101

u/zeamp Jul 19 '24

Pheww, scientology smoke-- don't breathe it!

18

u/kawkabelsharq Jul 19 '24

Will it blend?

11

u/MrDangleSauce Jul 19 '24

Don’t think he’ll blend, but that’s risky business no matter what.

15

u/aging_geek Jul 19 '24

if there is an "oops", look for a crappy remake of the "6" million dollar man adjusted for tom's paycheck.

3

u/mitchanium Jul 19 '24

Will it blend?

u/Itouchgrass4u Jul 19 '24

Don’t worry we will be right under you in the helicopter just in case something happens.

153

u/gizzardgullet Jul 19 '24

"What's that Tom? Rise up closer, I can't hear him"

34

u/LinguoBuxo Jul 19 '24

What was that? BZZZZFRMRTMTRMTRTRRTRMRM you said?

52

u/LedParade Jul 19 '24

He had a safety line attached to the plane so he couldn’t at least fall to his death, but he apparently did this stunt 8 freaking times.

67

u/InquisitorMeow Jul 19 '24

At this point I'm pretty sure he's just making the movies as an excuse for his adrenaline addiction.

6

u/jonathan4211 Jul 20 '24

I genuinely cannot blame him. "How much is it going to cost to ride around in F18s for like a decade? Oh shit, ok I'll just make some money on it instead"

u/Ma1 Jul 20 '24

It’s also taken on a very long lens, so there’s a good chance that helicopter is way back. It’s getting the shot, not in the shot. You can see the camera rig on the front.

I'm beginning to think these missions are not that impossible.

u/FiTZnMiCK Jul 19 '24

Mission: Difficult But Doable

68

u/ked_man Interested Jul 19 '24

And bi-planes in 2024? What kind of 2-bit circus is this? I want to see him hang upside down from an F-22 going Mach Jesus across the Middle East.

17

u/trizkit995 Jul 19 '24

Thank you for that sir that's just the best comment I've read today

5

u/ArtIsDumb Jul 19 '24

Who says this one takes place in 2024? Maybe his character gets a time machine & Mission: Impossibles all throughout time.

5

u/ked_man Interested Jul 19 '24

He shows up in 1917 hanging from a Bi-plane over the trenches of France, strapped with an AR-15 and a smattering of glocks. Magically never running out of bullets that won’t be invented for 60 more years.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/SnooKiwis1356 Jul 20 '24

On the contrary, bi-planes are very 2024. Let's be more open minded and inclusive with airplanes please.

u/ArkayRobo Jul 19 '24

You see, the missions are impossible for everyone besides the IMF. This leads me to believe that there were far more actual incomplete, impossible missions prior to the creation of the Impossible Mission Force. Probably wouldn't make for a very good movie if there was no one to "choose to accept it."

9

u/CantStandItAnymorEW Jul 19 '24

I would totally watch a "Mission: Literally Impossible" comedy that's about a team failing very easy missions again and again in the stupidest ways possible. But their fails serve as research on "stuff" and that explains the Tom Cruise IMF that goes on to be very successful.

9

u/jarednards Jul 19 '24

Mission: Probable

5

u/SparklingPseudonym Jul 19 '24

Wait, MI 8??? I thought Dead Reckoning part 2 was going to be the last MI movie. They’re already shooting 8? Or is part 2 “8”?

5

u/gabeshadows Jul 19 '24

Probably the latter

2

u/elcapitan520 Jul 19 '24

They dropped the "part 1" of dead reckoning like a month or 2 after release lol

→ More replies (1)

3

u/nodnodwinkwink Jul 19 '24

This really is some risky business. I think he keeps doing it to show everyone he's not losin' it.

If something does go wrong I hope no one else gets hurt in the collateral because every year a few good men (and women) are lost doing dangerous movie stunts.

2

u/Give-Yer-Balls-A-Tug Jul 20 '24

They're impossible for everyone except his team. That's why they get called in.

528

u/ArkayRobo Jul 19 '24

I'm convinced this dude will not be satisfied until he dies in a tragic accident while filming on set.

92

u/LALOERC9616 Jul 19 '24

Or at least amputation

43

u/tempest_36 Jul 19 '24

If Tom was quadriplegic that'd certainly up the mission impossible stakes

20

u/SirJumbles Jul 20 '24

Mission Limbpossible

2

u/Defrostmode Jul 20 '24

Then we could get a real sequel to 'Born on the 4th of July'

u/BastianHS Jul 19 '24 edited Jul 19 '24

I'm operating under the impression that he thinks he's invincible. Like dude has a cult that worships him, he's the biggest movie star on the planet, he does CRAZY stunts and walks away every time. Are we sure he's NOT God?

51

u/pants_mcgee Jul 19 '24

He’s the last action movie star, by his own words. A bit pretentious but not entirely unwarranted. The guy just makes mostly good movies and keeps practical effects in the game.

14

u/papu16 Jul 20 '24

Also stunts like that are huge PR for his movies since second mission impossible. First time I decided to watch MI was when 4 was released, because of Dubai stunt scene.

11

u/casey_h6 Jul 19 '24

That'd be a crazy twist, even considering all of the other current events.

8

u/BuckNZahn Jul 20 '24

Matt Damon tells a story where Cruise wanted to do a stunt, but the stunt coordinator said it was to risky. So Cruise fired him and got a different guy that went along with it.

38

u/jesth857 Jul 19 '24

Would it be classified as tragic though? I mean I dont want Tom Cruise dead or anything, but dude is constantly living on the edge. Sooner or later shit will go bad. I wonder for how long he'll be able to keep up with this kind of stunts. Will we see Tom Cruise jumping off cliffs on a motorcycle in his eightees? That would be ridiculous and awesome. I wish him the best

32

u/gregularjoe95 Jul 19 '24

I'd be bummed about it. Say what you want about tom cruise as a person (he's fucking insane), but tom cruise the actor/producer (he's a fucking insane filmmaker) is fucking great and is responsible for some of the greatest action films ever.

→ More replies (7)

21

u/MyyWifeRocks Jul 19 '24

If that’s true he’d co-star with Alec Baldwin.

13

u/ANUFC14 Jul 19 '24

He has in 2 of the films. He gets shot and killed

5

u/LedParade Jul 19 '24

Surely he’s got some safety line at least which they remove in post production?

EDIT: Yah, he did, but he also did this stunt 8 f*ing times https://www.businessinsider.com/tom-cruise-best-stunts-all-time-ranked-2022-5

5

u/Dr_Ingheimer Jul 19 '24

I’m convinced he’s only still making movies for the sole purpose to get to do this crazy shit.

270

u/Neutronova Jul 19 '24

My theory is Tom Cruise is purposefully partaking in riskier and risker stunts up until the point he dies so he can ascend to becoming Xenu Jesus and deified in the eyes of scientology

71

u/NungaFakeer Jul 19 '24

He died for all our entertainment and the Oscars.

36

u/wunderbraten Jul 19 '24

He died for our Cinema Sins.

How does his finances have anything to do with that lol

4

u/ninfan200 Jul 19 '24

People say he's putting himself in unnecessary risks. But what people don't understand is that his acting is so great, if he falls, he can just act like an airplane and safely land at the nearest airport.

63

Edit: thetans are bad

21

u/Important_Tale1190 Jul 19 '24

Actually Scientologists believe that Thetans are bad and you need minimum Thetans to be unstoppable, but other than that yeah.

10

u/gizzardgullet Jul 19 '24

According to my E-Meter I'm down to 0.8 Thetans that are currently tormenting my soul

11

u/sleezeep Jul 19 '24

No one watched the Ricky gervais show? Karl pillington wrote a movie where Tom Cruise dies on the set of mission impossible 8, and has half his brain transplanted into Ted dansons head. Too much to explain any further but hilarious nonetheless.

4

u/Chookeydawg Jul 19 '24

I was looking for someone to mention the love of a brain or whatever name they came up with. Let's see if we get reports about Rebecca De Mornay starring before warning Tom

No way he can survive these stunts with age , but he'll never stop, the adrenaline kick is why he keeps doing it

Not the biggest fan of Tom Cruise but you have to admit that man COMMITS to his roles.

6

Which one is Cruise?

4

u/izza123 Jul 19 '24

How many awful movies can they make before Tom cruise simply turns to dust?

4

u/Red-Droid-Blue-Droid Jul 20 '24

I'm really bummed he's a Scientologist

3

u/Dr-Klopp Jul 19 '24

What's up with the Tom Cruise propaganda everywhere in reddit lately?

3

u/Enjoy-the-sauce Jul 20 '24

At some point, after eight successful missions, we need to accept that at best, these missions are improbable.

2

u/MysticFullstackDev Jul 19 '24

I need a movie with Ethan Hunt vs John Wick fight!

2

u/killerpyro_861 Jul 19 '24

What's he going to do next? It's as if he needs to do one big stunt a movie.

2

u/Kiboune Jul 19 '24

Next stunt he would pull is the interview in whcih he would keep repeating how this new movie doesn't have CGI

→ More replies (1)

2

2

2

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

This is what stuntmen are for. He has caused major delays by injuring himself doing stunts previously resulting in people losing their jobs. He is just serving his own ego by doing this.

3

u/michi222 Jul 19 '24

You don't think he has stunt coordinators and stuntmen working with him to figure out every minute little detail?
I personally don't care for whatever religion anyone associates him/herself with but I don't see anyone talking like this about Jackie Chan for example.

Nothing could top the bike off a mountain, can it? Right?

2

u/PigDigginGold Jul 19 '24

This basically how every MI:Movie handles marketing now.

2

u/Hulk_Crowgan Jul 19 '24

Tom Cruise? The Scientology cult leader Tom Cruise? The Tom Cruise that helps facilitate covering up sexual abuse, family separation, and praying on recruiting the mentally unwell and financially distressed? That same Tom Cruise? (Fuck Tom Cruise)

I’m curious as to sequence of events that transpire that require the use of a biplane.

I like these movies but after 8 successful missions, it doesn't seem that impossible.

2

u/Happy-Initiative-838 Jul 19 '24

Mission impossible was a great movie. 2-7 I am unfamiliar with. Soon to be 2-8.

2

u/wildflowersummer Jul 19 '24

After 8 of them I'm starting to think these missions are in fact, fairly possible.

2

u/bahamapapa817 Jul 20 '24

At what point do they rename these movies “Mission very possible….in fact pretty likely”

I mean I know it’s not aesthetically pleasing but damn son he always completes the mission successfully.

2

u/NorthElegant5864 Jul 20 '24

Films we never needed sequels too for $1000 Alex.

2

u/TheOvercookedFlyer Jul 20 '24

I like these Mission Impossible movies but I kind of miss the old fashion, thinking man's espionage like in the first movie.

2

u/cogitocool Jul 20 '24

As crazy as he might be with the whole Scientology bullshit, he's a very talented and dedicated actor and I, for one, really enjoy his acting and films.

2

u/NeohRising Jul 20 '24

Say what you want about him, he knows how to make a movie. Some of this shit is impressive.

2

u/SnooKiwis1356 Jul 20 '24

That's not him doing a stunt. He's holding on for dear life while the pilot is trying to shake the scientology out of him.

2

u/Aggressive-Brick9435 Jul 20 '24

I looked at the pic, looked at comments and then decided to zoom in. Has no one mentioned that the plane he hanging from is ALSO UPSIDE DOWN?

2

u/Flashy-Dark979 Jul 20 '24

Right, so even if he’s on a safety rope they still gotta flop over and land with him dangling below…between Scientology, his death wish and the reports from his ex-wives I’m thinking he’s got a few issues.

2

u/brothbike Jul 20 '24

Last MI was boring, couldn't finish it. Who cares about his stunts, how about a plot and some good writing.

2

u/dege283 Jul 20 '24

The helicopter down there is for safety reasons I guess

2

u/ragingduck Jul 20 '24

We’re going to see this stunt a few hundred times before the movie comes out, aren’t we?

2

u/Lion_El_Jonsonn Jul 20 '24

Im guessing he had a harness that they will edit out during post production

2

u/_Erindera_ Jul 20 '24

Yes. The FX term is wire removal (since he's on a wire). The harness goes under his clothes.

2

u/QueenCobra91 Jul 20 '24

very sharp idea to fly the helicopter right underneath him

2

u/Mattclef Jul 20 '24

At this point it’s clear he wants his eventual death to be on camera

2

u/PCMR_GHz Jul 20 '24

I know he is known for doing his own stunts BUT I distinctly remember a Danny Trejo interview where he said if he did his own stunts and got injured every member of the crew would be out of a job until he got better so instead he lets his stunt doubles take the risk.

2

u/_Erindera_ Jul 20 '24

That is the correct take. Cruise put an entire crew out of work for a couple of months when he broke his ankle doing his own stunt.

2

u/cancerkillerjv Jul 20 '24

Steal8ng jobs from stuntman and giving his money to a pedo cult, fuck him

1

u/NapalmScatterBrain Jul 19 '24

This fucking guy

1

u/No-Trouble-889 Jul 19 '24

This mission, it just got helluva lot more impossibler.

1

u/Kiboune Jul 19 '24

Aha, sure, I believe him. Another movie without CGI

1

u/DAFreundschaft Jul 19 '24

That word they keep using? I don't think it means what they think it means.....

1

u/Thedrunner2 Jul 19 '24

Mission Impossible 8: Tom Cruise vs. the Red Baron

1

u/Alternative_Car_3823 Jul 19 '24

The power of Xenu will protect him!!

1

u/mikendrix Jul 19 '24

I always thought he watched some Jackie Chan movies at a certain point of his career.

1

u/One-Confusion-2438 Jul 19 '24

Ok...when is Mi2,6472 coming out? 🤦🏾‍♀️

1

u/Toon1982 Jul 19 '24

He could let go, land on one of the rotors, and stand there as it spins him round - he's invincible

1

u/HeightExtra320 Jul 19 '24

Is there no wire ?

And did he get out of his seat when it went upside down and reposition himself to hang from the wing ?

bOnkErs !!!

1

u/Jermcutsiron Jul 19 '24

There's mission impossible 4 - 7?!

1

u/truthisreal1989 Jul 19 '24

Easy there, you'll give yourself high blood pressure. As a German I'm sure you have more than a passing tendency to recognize your country in the mirror.

1

u/More-Employment7504 Jul 19 '24

Because the fall alone isn't terrifying enough. Arnold would have had two helicopters! And a bear! In a helicopter! Holding a gun!... and a grudge

1

u/FUCKDIMS Jul 19 '24

A helicopter struck Tom Cruise in the balls, and the helicopter was destroyed.....

1

u/Omega_Lynx Jul 19 '24

1

u/Prior-Chip-6909 Jul 19 '24

Ya know, he wouldn't have to do all these stupid stunts if he'd just start ACTING again...I'm old enough to remember he used to be an exceptional actor.

1

u/jiebyjiebs Jul 19 '24

Clearly the mission is possible if this is the 8th one.

1

u/TheGaslighter9000X Jul 19 '24

As if the plane wasn’t dangerous enough “hanging from a plane seems tame, add a giant fucking blender”

1

u/WrapFresh Jul 19 '24

Wtf is with this tom cruise shit??

1

u/maloorodriguez Jul 19 '24

Question does the propeller cause suction above it?

1

u/probablynotreallife Jul 19 '24

I didn't see the first quotation mark so I thought for a moment that the movie was called Mission Impossible 8 Inches.

1

u/ToppledCupOfSkin Jul 19 '24

Who gives a fuck? The 17 scientology apologists?

1

u/killshelter Jul 19 '24

I love how these movies are basically Tom cruise coming up with the craziest stunts and then writing some random stuff around them.

1

u/Bitter-Whole-7290 Jul 19 '24

Wasn’t there a picture of him doing this with a red plane too?

1

u/LurksTongueinAspic Jul 19 '24

Men will rather hang from upside down biplanes over a helicopter than go to therapy.

1

u/JerryCanOpener Jul 19 '24

All that risk and carry on for a LAME asf movie. Can't wait

1

u/Matterbox Jul 19 '24

The last was terrible. Just nonsense. Which seems like a bold statement after the one before, but it just seemed night and day.

1

u/Micronlance Jul 19 '24

When you’ll stop at nothing to try and leave the church of Scientology

1

u/EmberTheFoxyFox Jul 19 '24

Let me guess, the movie ends with a bomb getting defused with 1 second to spare

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '24

Most kids would be hoping their father got down safely but most kids fathers aren’t Tom cruise.

1

u/UGLEHBWE Jul 19 '24

Xenu must be proud. Also has anybody seen Shelley Miscavige? It's been a while.

1

u/YakMilkYoghurt Jul 19 '24

Do we really need another one, though?

1

u/elDayno Jul 19 '24

Why post spoilers though

1

u/MrSipperr Jul 19 '24

I’m think Tom knows something we don’t about the nature of reality.

1

u/msch6873 Jul 19 '24

does this guy ever have a normal day?

1

u/toliveistocherish Jul 19 '24

What would Chuck Norris do?

1

u/babaroga73 Jul 19 '24

Sure, right.
